Crochet for Christmas

Eachpeachpears · 23/07/2023 19:09

Does anyone want to join me in a thread for Christmas crochet chat/ideas?
I realise it's a bit niche but Crochet and Christmas are my two favourite things!
I'm fairly new to Crochet but planning on making Christmas pudding tree decorations for everyone, stockings for the DC as well as toys to go in the stockings. My DC love to watch me crochet so I think they'll like them!
So, would anyone care to join me?

I’m just in the process of learning to crochet so I won’t be able to make much of a contribution but I shall oo and ah at what everyone else does!

Share your project anyway! I’ve been crocheting for years but I’m still not that good. I do it for mental health and the feeling of making something by hand.

So please don’t be afraid to share ☺️

That’s beautiful @littleblackcat27

littleblackcat27 · 24/07/2023 08:43

@LMNT [waves] keep seeing you on different threads 😅

littleblackcat27 · 24/07/2023 08:47

@LMNT The lady who does these patterns is amazing. I'm working on the Narrow Boat one at the moment and really enjoying it. The patterns explain all the stitches - and she's recorded Youtube videos for tricky bits. It's nice to learn something new! Your daughter's blanket looks nice and cosy - and hopefully ready in time for xmas. This project I'm starting might turn into a gift for 2024 - we'll have to see!

britespark1 · 24/07/2023 11:00

I don’t have a pattern for the pigs as I just hodge-podged it together from the other animals I already make, although there’s bound to be similar ones out there The rectangular blanket was a “hooked by robin” YouTube tutorial as I can only normally make squares 😂

CrochetBug · 24/07/2023 11:43

Hi < waves>
I don't have any Christmas projects planned, other than finishing the nativity set the Vicar asked me to make . I love the pigs in blankets though, I might have to make one for DS2s stocking!

If anyone fancies some non Christmas related crochet chat you'd be very welcome on the long running crochet, knit and natter thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/arts_and_crafts/4710230-its-crochet-knit-natter-10-new-year-new-yarn-new-thread?page=36&reply=127632638

Ooo no I haven't, I'll have to go and have a look. Thank you!

It normally starts around September time but there are a few posters who crochet on there and your pigs in blankets would go down a storm I think. Last year’s thread is on page 4 if it helps.

Also, may I just say how envious I am at all of you who can do this. I can knit, I can sew but I cannot get my head around crochet. I’ve even had lessons but I find it impossible.

@littleblackcat27 waving back at you 😁

Her patterns are amazing! I’ve just had a browse and have put some in the basket for later in the year

coodawoodashooda · 24/07/2023 14:10

Is there a really simple beginners crochet anyone could link me to?

LMNT · 24/07/2023 14:21

I learned from The Crochet Crowd on YouTube.
The videos are really well done and easy to follow https://youtube.com/@TheCrochetCrowd

It’s her Vintage florals one I’m battling to finish at the moment. I want to do the touch of frost one of hers next.

LMNT · 24/07/2023 15:46

@BooksAndHooks do share a photo ☺️

Eachpeachpears · 24/07/2023 16:08

I couldn't hold bad any longer! I've been desperate to try this pattern so took the opportunity of DC being out with grandad to have a go. Slightly larger than planned but the whole patter was in double crochet. I think single crochet throughout would make it the perfect size for the tree!

Can I join? I love crochet which I only started last year. Not so much Christmas, I don't think I'm good enough to make gifts.
I love making blankets which might make good gifts but each one takes me months.
I just finished this one.

These are great ideas. I might have a go.

ScottishBeth · 24/07/2023 17:34

This is amazing! I've been looking for something to crochet my nieces and will definitely do some chocolate orange covers. Plus some other things.

ScottishBeth · 24/07/2023 17:53

Oh, plus I'll make some crochet finger puppets for my little girl.

LMNT · 24/07/2023 18:45

@Eachpeachpears thats so cute!!!

Lovely blanket @Hookalong

Snorklette · 24/07/2023 19:06

@Eachpeachpears @Hookalong they are both great! I’ve done baby blankets, but I have the attention span of a distracted goldfish. Little projects suit me best, I’ll definitely have a bash at the Christmas pud! Covers for Ferrero Rocher are also great for a quick crochet hit 😁

I'm so on board with this! I have a short attention span so I need instant results 😂
