Most came down last night. The tree finally went today. I'm probably miserable but I can't bear going back to work and them still being up.

Ours stay up until 12th night. We're off work until after New Year so this is still the Christmas holidays for us and if we have visitors I like the house to be festive. However we do only put them up a few days before Christmas (this year they went up on 23rd as we were away until 21st), none of this November malarkey! 😀So they're only up for 2 weeks - I can understand people wanting to take them down on Boxing Day if they've had them up since Hallowe'en 😂

FindingMeno · 27/12/2022 19:29

Mine will be down tomorrow and it would have been today if I had time.
I'd rather they didn't go up at all and I have no tolerance for them once Christmas day is over.
Do people really just lounge around eating and watching TV all the way to the new year and beyond,?

Fairislefandango · 27/12/2022 19:35

Mine will come down on 2nd Jan after our NY guests have left. We go back to work on the 3rd after having the whole Christmas and NY period off.

I don't hate Christmas. I just don't have an ongoing love for decorations whilst I'm back to work. Plus my birthday is just after new year so good to get rid before then too

Lol 'back to work'. Some of us work right through the Christmas period.

Why would having the decorations up mean that you have to lounge around watching tv and eating? Confused

We put the tree and decorations up on the 16th and were staying with family from 24th until today. We have guests staying from 30th to 2nd Jan, so still want all the festive stuff. There will be plenty more good food and fun once the guests are here, but we won't be slobbing on the sofa watching crap tv and stuffing ourselves with Celebrations!

NotAGrinchII · 27/12/2022 19:42

@Willowswood don't throw that at me. You don't know my job. I worked Christmas Eve and Christmas Day night shifts thank you and still celebrated with my little boy during the day dog fucking tired. And guess what? I worked last year and the years before that too.

Mine will be tomorrow, mainly because I am bored rigid and the clutter is driving me mad.

Woooo calm down! 😂😂

What's 'lol' about the fact that people have different jobs and working hours?

What does the presence of decorations or lack of have to do with the above?

Snoops123 · 27/12/2022 19:54

Mine are always down Boxing Day - like Christmas but once it’s done ready for a good clean and fresh start! We do put them up on 1st though so definitely ready 😃

bibbif · 27/12/2022 19:55

Admittedly I do lots of lounging & tv watching with family & friends over this period, it's bliss.

Skyeheather · 27/12/2022 19:57

Kids go back to school on 5th January so I'll take them down on 4th. DP always insists they stay up until 12th night but I don't want to be up late in the evening taking them down so 4th it is.

Mrsfussypants1 · 27/12/2022 20:00

Ours will be down just before 12th night this year, I'm back to work and my next day off is 2nd January and back in 3rd so the 2nd it'll come down and a good spring clean. I love coming in from work and switching all the sparkle on and raiding the fridge. The twixmas bit between christmas and new year is my favourite bit, in our family it was still part of the celebrations.

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 27/12/2022 20:00

Not yet. We used to wait til 12th night but will probably take them down on the 2nd or 3rd.

TrifledOut · 27/12/2022 20:01

Usually take them down on New Years Day.

Current toy enjoying being cosy on the sofa with the Christmas tree lights and a big platter of cheese!

NotAGrinchII · 27/12/2022 20:04

@Mrsfussypants1 twixmas?

Adeckofcards · 27/12/2022 20:10

I usually take them down on the 1st or 2nd January. I only have Christmas cards and a tree (which I need to ring the people I bought it from and they will collect it to make wood chippings).

I didn't bother with a wreath this year and didn't put lights on the tree outside (which I had intended to do) and I don't have decorations up around the house either.

WaddleAway · 27/12/2022 20:13

No, I love having the tree up. I’ll probably take it down on 3rd Jan when my children go back to school.

No. I don’t lounge around eating and watching TV at all, even at Christmas. What has the presence (or absence) of decorations got to do with peoples eating and lounging habits?

BasilParsley · 27/12/2022 20:21

Given I didn't put mine up until three days before Xmas, (it's a real one!). I'll not be taking it down until twelfth night...

I'd be sad they're down so soon but I totally get wanting to be straight before going back to work. We're exactly the same except we're lucky that we both work in industries that usually close completely between Christmas and New Year so we generally take them down on the 2nd of Jan.

DeadbeatYoda · 27/12/2022 20:24

Mine went up on 21st and will probably come down on 2nd-ish. I think some people put their decs up much earlier so are bored of them by now. Each to their own.

Joystir59 · 27/12/2022 20:26

All cleared away and fresh bedding on, house clean. But it's very much still Christmas, I'm enjoying the down time and the festive food. I just can't stand the dusty mess of the tree and decs once boxing day is over.

Joystir59 · 27/12/2022 20:27

My decs went up on the 19th. A week is plenty.
