Most came down last night. The tree finally went today. I'm probably miserable but I can't bear going back to work and them still being up.

It’s still Christmas!!
ours went up end of November and will come down usually the 6th Jan . Kids & myself back at school/work on the 5th so may take them down on the 4th this year

Wexone · 27/12/2022 18:33

it's still Xmas. am enjoying that in between stage where you don't know what day it is. fridge is full of leftovers and chocolate. where you can lie on the sofa watching TV and do nothing if you want. I don't want to even think about taking them down till the new year. it's not a huge job but it's one that doesn't need to be done now

maddiemookins16mum · 27/12/2022 18:38

Ours will be down by the weekend. I hate them up at NY and they’re aew always down before I go back to work.

ivfbabymomma1 · 27/12/2022 18:38

12th night for us too

BrewandBiscuit · 27/12/2022 18:39

I’m slowly doing it. I’ve taken down all the cards, put away the wooden advent calendar’s and little nick nacks. Tree will probably come down Friday or Saturday

ReindeerSkull · 27/12/2022 18:39

Mine are coming down at the weekend, before going back to work and school for all of us. I've started a general household declutter today and was briefly tempted to include Christmas stuff, but I'm still enjoying the twinkly lights too much!

Luana1 · 27/12/2022 18:42

We took ours down today, although I think we'll leave the wreath up on the front door for a while as it's still got more life in it.

Normally we wait until after NY to take everything down, but because we had so many Christmas activities and outings the week before Christmas it feels like we've had a long enough Christmas period and don't feel the need to eek it out as we have done some years.

HelloBunny · 27/12/2022 18:43

My house is a pit of despair filled with toys, clothes, food... And everything else that was here before Christmas. Don’t even talk to me about the Christmas tree!

Slimjimtobe · 27/12/2022 18:45

Going to leave ours up until next Monday or so

justasking111 · 27/12/2022 18:46

DS home till 30th, then family with children on the 1st. Will make a start after that

Christmas begins on Christmas Day! Hmm Have you not heard of the 12 days of Christmas?!?!

Ragwort · 27/12/2022 18:46

We keep the tree up until 12th night ... I love having it up for NYE. But we have no DC at home (well, a 21 year old one!), went 'present free' this year so no clutter no more than usual. And we've been away for three nights so nice to be back in our own home with our own decorations.

SchnauzerEyebrows · 27/12/2022 18:47

TheChosenTwo · 27/12/2022 18:05

Yep, all down and away. I love Christmas but for me Christmas has finished and we are looking forward to going on holiday tomorrow for new year - and I’m not someone whose has their decs up since august, they’ve been up for 2 weeks and 2 days! Long enough for me. And since I’m the one who takes them down they come down when I want them to come down. Which was today! Start the year afresh.

🙄

RaisinRainbow · 27/12/2022 18:47

The illuminated reindeer clattered dramatically off the roof when the wind picked up, they will stay down,
I'd like to take the tree down but leave up exterior icicle lights as it;s so bleak and grim out there, and one strand of fairy lights in the living room, just for a bit of sparkle!

bibbif · 27/12/2022 18:54

where do people put their trees if they take everything down so soon? Our council doesn't collect them till the 5th.

Starburst8 · 27/12/2022 18:54

Aah I wish I could take mine down now 🤣 I have a 4 year old who loves the decorations but they'll be taken down on 2nd. I don't think I'll get away with any sooner!

KillingLoneliness · 27/12/2022 18:55

Ours have been up since mid November, coming down on the 7th as then we have the weekend together to get it all done.

Tigger7654 · 27/12/2022 18:58

Today, all done for the year yay

HappyHogan · 27/12/2022 19:04

I usually take them down in the 6th but have a new sofa being delivered Friday so want them out of the way by then

catsandkid · 27/12/2022 19:08

Mine will be down tomorrow night after work! Often take them down day after Boxing Day as I go straight back to work as soon as bank hols are finished, however have been feeling awful with lurgey so couldn't be bothered today!

We tend to put them up start of December as we enjoy the run up to Xmas far more than the aftermath! Once Boxing Day is done and we've cleared the house and made space for kids new toys it just feels fresh to get the decs down too and have the house all clean and tidy. We love Xmas, but for us Xmas is mainly the run up due to work commitments between Xmas and NYE.

stargirl1701 · 27/12/2022 19:09

Not mine. They just went up on Christmas Eve. This period of time is Christmas. Advent is done and now I can just enjoy time with my family. No demands; pure bliss!

woodhill · 27/12/2022 19:15

No but will be on 12th night. We tend to put us up later

Lordofmyflies · 27/12/2022 19:16

Ours stay up until the 12th night. We are still celebrating Christmas, having friends over, playing games with the kids and relaxing until at least the 2nd Jan.

dutysuite · 27/12/2022 19:19

Keeping mine up until the 2nd, I love having my tree up for NYE and in my family ever since my parents were children we have always had a big meal similar to a Christmas dinner on New Year’s Day with more family over so like the tree up for that.

MittenstheMurderKitty · 27/12/2022 19:19

Up on Christmas Eve, down on 12th night. Always rather sad after they come down, the living room feels a bit bare afterwards.
