My favourite present is a box of chocolates bought for me by DS2 (age 20). He has ASD and a learning disability and this year was the first time he’s ever been interested in buying gifts. He went out with his support worker despite suffering crippling social anxiety, chose and wrapped (completely by himself, took him ages bless him) presents for me, DH and 3 siblings. He even bought and wrote a card for each of us signed with love which is unheard of! The look of pride he had on his face when we opened them completely made my day!

DH got me a seated elliptical trainer which I’m over the moon with. I have really struggled to be motivated enough to go the gym since starting a WFH job, put a lot of weight on and have suffered issues with my back/legs due to sitting at desk. Really delighted with it and keen to start using it.

DD got me some gorgeous fluffy slippers which I also love. Lovely scarf, books, smellies as well.

HotChoxs · 26/12/2022 00:00

A box of mince pies.
I told people not to bother buying me presents a long time ago, but if they felt they needed to then chocolate or sweet things would be fine.

The mince pies are great, the peace of mind better.

FilthyforFirth · 26/12/2022 00:01

Ive hosted today so not opened much but my fave gift is a 3 day break to Berlin in Feb half term from DH. He has sorted childcare and everything. We are staying in a fancy hotel and have 3 glorious child free nights.

Am delighted!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 26/12/2022 00:13

Speaker for my drums, two pairs of earrings, cloud nine straighteners, next voucher, two bracelets, money

dontgobaconmyheart · 26/12/2022 00:34

I love seeing what other people do/eat/get at Christmas, I could read these threads all day. My highlights include:

Some gorgeous and fairly niche coffee table/hardback books on things I'm interested in but didn't realise DP knew I was:
The Bloomsbury Look
Vita & Virginia
from Field & Forest and From Coast and Cove
The Wasteland; A Biography of a Poem

Lovely monogrammed leather bookmarks and a book voucher.

Several Boxes of (all!) my favourite Chocolates.

A swanky food processor ( that I asked for)

A small but lovely antique oil painting I pointed out in a shop months ago that I'll treasure.

Some gorgeous candles and a handy candle lighter

A Harry potter trivia game, even though he bloody hates it, knowing he would be obliged to play and subsequently lose for the same reason.

Lastly some very excellent and very thick tog rated socks for my constantly cold feet.

DP and I don't usually bother exchanging any gifts or celebrating Xmas much but decided to this year as it's just us and agreed to do each other a stocking which was also bags of fun. I've had an awful year health wise and lost most of the year very deep in grief after a loss so was so touched by the presents he gave and the effort behind them.

SaveMeCheezus · 26/12/2022 00:46

From DH

Lovely soft lounge wear
A tin of toiletries I love
A new jigsaw (I love jigsaws)
Posh chocolates
A jumper I'd asked for
An address book (I'd asked for a new one when writing Christmas cards)
New cashmere socks
A book I'm sure I'll enjoy

From my parents

Euros for our New Year city break

Plus other lovely bits from wider family and friends.

Feeling very loved and lucky ❤️

HarrietSchulenberg · 26/12/2022 01:22

My family nailed it this year, after a few years of weirdness. I did give them a bit of a wishlist but they still surprised me.
Some art pens I've dropped huge hints about for months.
Alan Garner's Treacle Walker (also hinted at).
A cheese making kit (surprise and love it as biggest boy clearly put some thought into it).
Japanese style watercolours from youngest child (mid teen, chosen entirely by himself, presented with great and justified pride).
My favourite perfume which I've not been able to afford for years.
My favourite chocolates and smelly things from Lush from middle child, who normally complains that that shop makes his nose fall off when he passes within 30 feet of it.

alanabennett · 26/12/2022 01:26

My DH has been ill with COVID all week and just as he was starting to recover, had a kidney stone. So I decided to buy and wrap myself some books and label them from him.

He actually surprised me - he bought me an individual coffee maker, coffee supplies and a nice mug for my new office space. And a new wedding ring as my fat fingers got even fatter after having three kids and my original one no longer fits. He's in my good books!
