Unexpected Christmas present wins

There was a thread a couple of years back where people posted their unexpectedly brilliant present wins - it was quite heartwarming so I wondered if anyone had any this year? I do - we got DS these tiny rubbery creepy crawly tentacle things you chuck at a wall and they slowly roll down, as a stocking filler, and he’s been playing with them all morning - the greens and yellows are zombies and the others are the goodies apparently - there has been much monologue-ing! He’s barely touched anything else 😂😂😂

A "safe" money box (from Smiggle). DS1, aged 8, is obsessed. Winner!

Hot Wheels cars (bearing in mind how many the kids have already, I was most surprised they were THAT excited by them).🤣

And, for both DC, a simple pencil case each was a huge hit. (Dinosaur one for DS2 and a remote controller-shaped one for DS1). Who knew?!

Mini farting trumpets for my 2 and 4 year old, they absolutely love them and think they are the funniest thing ever!

Trumpton · 25/12/2022 19:51

Dgs (12) has a baseball cap with light up peak. He has worn it all day and keeps tapping himself on the side of the head to tun it on and off.

JosephFrancis · 25/12/2022 19:58

Christmas crackers that each contain a little hand bell. Then you all ring them in sequence and there tinkles forth a lovely Christmas tune. Husband, Dad, teens, and little mr 7 all loved them!

HippyChickMama · 25/12/2022 19:58

A Simon Air for dd(9), she has developed a love/hate relationship with it but it's kept her entertained
The Cunk on Britain book for ds(15), he's been laughing hysterically at it all afternoon and reading bits out to us, highly recommended if you like the TV programmes

elevenplusdilemma · 25/12/2022 20:00

A second-hand (but immaculate) Percy Pig onsie for DD that i bought in the charity shop for a fiver. She's 13 and still doesn't bat an eyelid if we give her second-hand clothes. She said it's the thing she wanted most 😍

zazzabeans · 25/12/2022 20:12

My 3 (20,15,14) have spent the last hour playing with a £3.99 puzzle ball 🤣

AlliwantforChristmasisgu · 25/12/2022 20:26

@Haysfam where did you get the Pin Art from? DS’s has got lost in the post and I may need to go to a real life shop!

hiredandsqueak · 25/12/2022 20:31

I bought coal for adult ds's stocking. Dgs's (3) face was magical as he's been telling ds that he was on the naughty list for weeks now. That Santa gave him coal was the best thing ever. He's been talking about it all day and listing ds's misdemeanors that resulted in him getting coal.

DoubleHelix79 · 25/12/2022 20:32

Uno for 5 year old DD. Absolutely loves it - we had to pry them from her at bedtime.

Yabado · 25/12/2022 20:35

I bought my late parents neighbor an original Oddie

I wasn’t sure as she’s 82 😂 but i got a lovely text from her niece telling me she absolutely loved it and a picture of her wearing it so I’m really happy that she liked it

SouperNoodle · 25/12/2022 20:35

Slime 😂 my 2 DDs recently discovered slime videos on YouTube Kid’s so I bought them each a £1 tub of slime as a stocking filler and they're obsessed 😂

Santancrap · 25/12/2022 20:51

11year old DS loved his box of broken biscuits off a market stall!

Haysfam · 25/12/2022 21:00

Charity shop but originally from smiggle !

custardbear · 25/12/2022 21:07

A splatted cat 'decoration' ... it also has lights (not set up yet) I love cats by the way, I have 3... including a black cat!) 😑 .... and it was from my husband 😳👿🤣

TinfoilTwat · 25/12/2022 21:08

A mango.

Dd grew up in a hot country where mangoes were cheap, plentiful and delicious. We now live in a country where mangoes are imported, exorbitantly expensive and not very good. Father Christmas threw caution to the wind and put a huge, ripe mango in her stocking. She was absolutely thrilled and ate it for Christmas breakfast. Best present of Christmas.

Squarerootofpi · 25/12/2022 21:17

Took a chance on a Plasma ball from Amazon for ds thinking it would be a cheap version. It's amazing! It even has an audio setting. I've spent ages playing with it.

The electric marble run, on the other hand, can go fuck itself.

Placemarking for inspiration for next year.

Harmonicas from home bargains!

mac1974 · 25/12/2022 21:32

A reversible cow print bucket hat from SHEIN for DD age 8. She's had it on all day!

mummydoris2006 · 25/12/2022 22:12

DD16 absolutely over the moon with a spanner set and pink ratchet (She is an apprentice agricultural engineer).

Shodan · 25/12/2022 22:22

Speed poo for both dss (26 and 15).

Because of their age gap I like to try and get them silly things that they can do together. A couple of years ago it was mini nerf guns (although frankly, I suffered at their hands!).

They spent quite a long time searching for batteries together, then racing their speed poos against each other.

Plus, you know- they're boys and it was poo 😂

rumbypumby · 25/12/2022 22:32

Electric doodle pad thingy each and Pringles selection tubs

Shergill15 · 25/12/2022 23:08

DD loved the whoopee cushion from her stocking 😀
