Turkey which says feeds 12
gammon which says feeds 9
over 100 pigs in blankets
plus all the usual sides

I think 15 will be ok, people can have 2/3 of the turkey they may normally have but then they can bump it up with some gammon and multiple pigs in blankets.
I don’t think there will be any/much turkey left over for Turkey sandwiches.

BarbaraofSeville · 22/12/2022 09:07

I think there's plenty unless you have a lot of big eaters, or few that will not eat the leg meat.

MrsWhites · 22/12/2022 09:12

Some of the responses on here - how much meat do you allow for each person???

I’d have said 15 OP so I think you’ll be fine, if having 2 meats plus pigs in blankets, stuffing etc I think people take less of each. Especially if the sides look delicious too!

If you are concerned you could always serve the meat rather than putting it on the table, my mums table isn’t big enough for joints of meat as well as everything else so she asks who wants what meat wise and plates that part up in the kitchen before we all go in to sit down - obviously if you do this it helps to have place settings.

InTheFutilityRoomEatingBiscuits · 22/12/2022 09:22

I have two chickens, a big ham and 36 pigs in blankets and that’s to feed 14, with leftovers for Boxing Day lunch. I am feeding a lot of big eaters and teenagers. The key factor is there will also be everything else! Your food sounds plenty for 15 OP don’t worry.

wheretonextyear · 22/12/2022 09:23

If you have any PiBs leftover, give me a shout, we never seem to buy enough 😭

RosesAndHellebores · 22/12/2022 09:34

I think you will get 15 adult portions from the turkey and there shoukd be a slice of ham each from the gammon. 4/6 pigs each should be enough. However, you won't have much left for sandwiches - if anything.

When I've had a turkey that says feeds 10 to 12, and I've had 10, there has always been enough for cold meat the following day for a full portion of cold meat for about 6.

RosesAndHellebores · 22/12/2022 09:37

Oh and just to add, my family are quite hearty eaters who like meat.

Montague22 · 22/12/2022 09:38

15

pimlicoanna · 22/12/2022 09:41

12

Orormno · 22/12/2022 09:46

I think it was 5.5kg? I’d ordered a 6.6-6.8 kg one and I know it was over a kg smaller. Getting to it involves emptying a lot of other stuff out of the fridge so can’t check just now

OP posts:
Justisme · 22/12/2022 09:51

15-20 with all the other sides / potential starters and dessert

Wisteriaroundthedoor · 22/12/2022 09:57

That can’t be right on turkey op. I got a 5,4kg one from markies, says it feeds 6 to 10, looking at it, it is 6 max unless small slices

there is no way you can feed 15 people with that. And generally folks don’t think it’s turkey or ham, they would eat both.

for me the meat is really under catered.

SausageRoll2020 · 22/12/2022 09:57

Twenty if all adults, slightly more if some are children.

You'll probably still have leftovers.

this Is turning into the crimbo version of the mythical mumsnet chicken,

20 😂

Benjispruce4 · 22/12/2022 10:29

15 or more. But 100 pigs in blankets???? Mass catering?

Benjispruce4 · 22/12/2022 10:29

2 each in this house.😀

Benjispruce4 · 22/12/2022 10:31

My turkey says 7-11 servings . There are 7 of us.

walkinthewoodstoday · 22/12/2022 10:36

15

Undertheoldlindentree · 22/12/2022 10:43

At first I thought 20.

Now downgrading to 15. People eat a greater volume of food when there's more variety available. Saw at TV experiment on this a few years ago using coloured M&M's!

ThinWomansBrain · 22/12/2022 10:44

If it's to feed 15 people that should be sufficient - presumably the 'serving estimates' on the meat are assuming a full portion - not turkey AND gammon (plus half a dozen sausages).
If you're concerned, make sure you cook plenty of veg and potatoes.

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 22/12/2022 10:56

Why are people “presuming” there’s a starter? I don’t know anyone who can be arsed with making a starter as well as doing everything else.

OP if you carve and plate the meat rather than letting people help themselves you’ll have more than enough, especially as some people won’t want both

MyAnacondaMight · 22/12/2022 11:03

I’m really cautious with this sort of thing, and would still say you’ll be absolutely fine for 15 people with a 5.5kg turkey and a 2.5kg (guessing) gammon. No need to do another turkey! You could add some sausage meat stuffing if really worried.

What I would do is serve all the veggies and sides to the table first - while you carve the turkey and ham into thin slices. Then people will have full plates before adding the meat - they’ll probably just add a slice or two and consider their plate full.

ifonly4 · 22/12/2022 11:16

On the turkey and gammon it states a total of 21 portions - some people won't want both. Also, no one here has more than 2-3 pigs in blankets, so you've easily got loads for 20-25 people. By the time you've added potatoes, veggies, possibly stuffing or yorkshire and gravy, it'll look like a plateful if you've got around 20.

YaWeeFurryBastard · 22/12/2022 11:22

8-10 I’d say, so get another turkey if possible and you should be fine!

I can’t believe people are saying it would feed 20?! Who wants to feel like they have to be abstemious on Christmas Day! The “serves” portions are always smaller than reality IMO.

Really? I’d say most people will probably want both and the usual here is 4/5 pigs in blankets per person!
