Turkey which says feeds 12
gammon which says feeds 9
over 100 pigs in blankets
plus all the usual sides

OP posts:

15-20 assuming substantial sides. But depends a bit on the people involved - my Grabby for example eats an awful lot less than my 18 year old nephew!

FabFitFifties · 21/12/2022 22:28

12 to 15 adults, depending on age, appetites, etc. Tbough thats a lot of pibs

Canthave2manycats · 21/12/2022 22:33

How many do you need it to feed?

Sisisimone · 21/12/2022 22:41

12-14

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 21/12/2022 22:44

What is the weight of the turkey?

Adviceneeded200 · 21/12/2022 22:45

10 to 12 adults
There will be pigs in blankets left over.

Augend23 · 21/12/2022 22:45

I would have assumed 16

12+9 is 21 so with pigs in blankets as well I would expect it to easily do 16 but likely with pigs in blankets left over if they're full size sausages. If they're the baby ones I could happily eat 6.

WimpoleHat · 21/12/2022 22:45

I’d have said 25. It never ceases to amaze me how the average 1.2kg chicken says “feeds 6”. Possibly if you boiled every scrap off it to make casserole and padded if out etc etc. But the reverse logic seems to apply to Christmas turkeys. I ordered a 2kg turkey which claims to serve 3!!! So I reckon a turkey that says it feeds 12 will feed at least 20 - and then you’ve got loads of ham and sausages to add to that.

StarDolphins · 21/12/2022 22:46

I’’d say 10 but with50 pigs in blankets left!

Augend23 · 21/12/2022 22:47

Do you have the weights of the gammon and the turkey?

Jackie17177 · 21/12/2022 22:48

12-15, more if the sides are very substantial.... Although I don't eat a lot of pigs in blankets... If you are feeding 15 that would be 6-7 each on average... That seems a lot? is that a lot?

I don't know, appetites can vary massively. I intentionally overestimate on the food and plan how to use leftovers. I am terrible at portion control and I would rather have too much than too little on Christmas day so what do I know! 😂

NoelNoNoel · 21/12/2022 22:48

It’s probably for 6 people and the OP is Christmas panicking.

WhyWhyWhyMum · 21/12/2022 22:58

8-10

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 21/12/2022 23:12

Butcher told us allow 2 pounds of meat per person.

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 21/12/2022 23:13

If that helps?

SoShallINever · 21/12/2022 23:15

10

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 21/12/2022 23:17

20

But I don't much like meat so if I can get away with half a slice that suits me as I'm all about the veg.

Really? That's approx one kilo!?

Presumably that’s bone-in weight on the turkey though so it would actually yield a lot less meat.

howmanybicycles · 21/12/2022 23:50

15

HeddaGarbled · 21/12/2022 23:59

12, but I’d freeze half of the pigs in blankets and use them gradually over the next few months.

Changeisneeded · 22/12/2022 00:03

Depends personally I’d have a normal portion of Turkey with a slice of ham and couple of pigs in blankets so for me the Turkey says 12 so that’s how many people it feeds as I’m not fussed by the ham etc! However If some of your guests go more for ham and/ or pigs and blankets then obviously you can round it up?

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 22/12/2022 05:07

It was a lot of meat but we all got to make hot sandwiches the next day.

blisstwins · 22/12/2022 05:16

12-15

Orangesare · 22/12/2022 05:18

Unless you’ve got people who eat a lot of meat I would say 20 as I presume there’s a starter and pudding.
i would plate up the meat and only do self serve veg. Although I just plate up everything as it’s easier now.
