I know every year it gets slated by the ones who click on It to say how awful it is. But don't know if it would be genuinely insensitive?
I'm only asking because I finally have a proper huge fridge for the first time in years 😀

This is my dedicated Christmas fridge. Boring everyday stuff is in my other fridge!

I'm jealous of all the big fridges, I feel a bit inferior now!

PreVerbalGerbil · 22/12/2022 19:21

Here’s mine as is at the mo, a tonne of stuff in the freezer too. Booze, spare milk and pop in separate fridge in the outhouse!
I love my fridge a little bit too much, the cheese drawer is a thing of wonder and will hopefully be even more full when hubby has been to the deli!

Great pics of your fridges! I won't show mine cos it hasn't got too much in it really as there are just two of us for the big day and we eat out the rest of the time mostly, or make do with leftovers etc. We don't drink alcohol either so that saves space too! But we do have some in a crate outside the back door for visitors just the same!

Anyway as I was organising the fridge earlier and fed up of rooting in the back and things stuffed one on top of the other I got a brainwave (for me anyway as that's rare!). I found some lowish storage baskets in the spare room. Dumped the crap that was in them in a bag and lo and behold they fitted the fridge perfectly. So I can pull out each box/tray and find everything without the whole lot falling on top of my head.

I know we can buy fridge insert boxes now, but I never bothered. I will be after Christmas. Need to get the measurements right.

Would be so much easier if every shelf had a drawer like the salad drawer, and I often wonder why not?

Merry Christmas everyone.

That’s a bit woo. And yours is looking decidedly more excitingly packed. The almost bare shelf at the bottom is the only one the kids are allowed to touch. Need a rejig but am drinking wine and can’t be arsed don’t want to confuse them!

troppibambini6 · 22/12/2022 19:45

I give you Xmas fridge and Xmas pantry.

In my defence I have 6 kids. Also I'm hosting Xmas day, boxing and new year and have lots of people/kids/teenagers coming and going who always need feeding/ drinks/ snacks.

Just spotted the photo bombing dog too! He gets the doors opening five miles away Wink

MisgenderedPaul · 22/12/2022 20:22

Mrswhites poor you. After a similar incident years ago, I won't do the final shop online. I hope you can get to the supermarket.

Flyinggeesei234 I always prefer to keep potatoes in the fridge. I did an experiment with some in the fridge and some stored in a sack in the garage, and fridge ones lasted way longer and stayed looking good. * *Mind, I would keep just about everything in the fridge, if space allowed.

I am loving having a look at everyone's food choices, and the different fridges. Including store cupboard with dog!

Thanks@MisgenderedPaul re the potatoes. Will try that.

Maya678 · 22/12/2022 21:24

Filled with my Christmas shop today, there’s only 3/4 of us and no meat eaters or drinkers so that saves on space but I did the obligatory Christmas fridge clean. Love this thread.

@Dimpous you're fridge is impeccable. So tidy. Care to share tips? Or is this a Christmas fridge clean special?

@TheRealKatnissEverdeen it's usually like this but less food! The storage boxes help, if something spills etc in the dishwasher they go!!

PollyEsther · 22/12/2022 21:42

Flyinggeesei234 · 22/12/2022 18:54

I’ve noticed a few with potatoes in the fridge - do they keep longer that way? I’ve never refrigerated spuds but have been thinking recently about how they don’t seem to keep as long as they used to. Would the fridge help?

Those who refigerate spuds? Why? TIA.

My mums stores them in a drawer and they last ages. I tried the same and they barely lasted a week. Last us aaaaaaages in the fridge!

Here's my fridge. Drinks are in an outdoor fridge freezer. No turkey - we are having beef. Tesco sent several small joints instead of the big one we ordered! Bacon is for Christmas and Boxing Day breakfast.

My first ham in Coca Cola is already cooking as God daughter has requested it for her Christmas lunch alongside her veggie family!

Veggies are in drawers in the bottom of the fridge. Cauliflower cheese is in the freezer. Making Jamie Oliver gravy tomorrow and will freeze it.

Thank you for this thread. It has brought me great joy Smile

Is that butter at the top inside the door?

ChristmasLightsLover · 22/12/2022 21:46

@yaflouloci Yup! I hate having to check for everything every week so I usually buy in bulk where I can... The butter just lives there and when there's a couple left I restock. Same with tins - beans, tomatoes, soups. And chilli, pasta and curry sauces.

It is a Smeg, along these lines shop.smeguk.com/fridges-freezers/fridge-freezers/fq55fxdf-84cm-two-door-two-drawer-fridge-freezer-stainless-steel-effect But I only bought it about two years ago and I am sure it was half the price. It is called French style, have a look around.
