@IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile Argos have some in the mens section, you could see if the smallest size fit if they have them in your local store to collect?

Nekoness · 21/12/2022 22:26

@puppydisaster, I placed an order with Hype on 18 November and received my parcel on 21 nov. Order from there regularly without any issues.

Peabody25 · 21/12/2022 22:33

@IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile gap have some that you can collect in store on Friday if they can be delivered then! www.gap.co.uk/style/ls326847/k15254

IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile · 21/12/2022 22:50

@sycamorescrumptious and @BloodyMabel Thanks I hadn't considered men's I had assumed they'd be huge! None in a 30 or 32 green near me unfortunately or I'd have given it a go. I'll add small mens to my searching tomorrow though thank you both.

I’ve bought my mum a coffee maker for Christmas as, at the age of nearly 80, she has just discovered she loves coffee shop cappuccinos!
Had ordered some specialist chocolate powder to sprinkle on top but it is now out of stock
what other sort of chocolate can I get from a supermarket or delivered by Christmas to top a cappuccino with? (Have bought a stencil too so it feels like a coffee shop one!)

BloodyMabel · 22/12/2022 03:33

@LittleMousewithcloggson Any chocolate powder will work sprinkled on top but I know Tesco were selling little jars like the ones herbs come in with chocolate ‘topping’ powder specifically for hot drinks. They also had cinnamon and I think vanilla ones too.

My local independent coffee shop uses regular Cadbury's hot chocolate as a cappucino topping!

ScarlettDarling · 22/12/2022 07:05

@LittleMousewithcloggson Look for ‘cadburys chocolate sprinkler’ on Amazon, it’s on Prime so will arrive on time. Hope I’m still discovering new things when I’m 80!

@Puffalicious Shipbob distrubute, fulfill and ship warehouse orders for various companies, so it could be one of around 7,000. Hopefully it's what you have been waiting for!

Well that's added some frisson to my day- wonder what will turn up 😁. I imagine it's HonestlyEco, but could be anything- I/DH orderiing in my name via PayPal could have ordered other bits. God knows!

No Vitamaaques, like PP suggested, though.

I finished work yesterday and started shivering like a loon last night 🙄. In bed with Lemsip as my best friend, so I'm so, so grateful to Reastie and these threads for being organised super early- I'm even wrapped and smug. I tested positive for Covid on Christmas day last year (I know!!!!) so I'm in denial at the minute, hoping Lemsip does it this time. I work with children, so I blame them every time (I've had it 3 times 🙈).

Have the best Christmas one and all 🧑‍🎄🧑‍🎄🧑‍🎄🧑‍🎄🧑‍🎄🧑‍🎄🧑‍🎄🧑‍🎄🧑‍🎄🧑‍🎄🧑‍🎄🧑‍🎄🧑‍🎄🧑‍🎄

CarrieMoonbeams · 22/12/2022 08:35

It's too late for Christmas now, but I've just bought a cracking deal from Laithwaites.

If you go to Subscriptions, then World Highlights, they have a deal where you get 12 bottles of wine - you can choose all reds, all whites, or mixed - for £65, plus 2 free glasses (normally £18 for 2), a lovely free table top wine rack (normally £25) and free delivery (normally £7.99).

It said it should be delivered between Christmas and New Year, that's fine for me. It'll top up my wine rack after Christmas, plus I can give a couple of bottles for January birthdays.

It is, of course, a subscription, but you can cancel by email if you want to. I think we'll probably keep it going though, their wines are lovely. Cheers 🥂!

IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile · 22/12/2022 08:52

@Peabody25 Thank you, I had discounted Gap as our local store had closed but have just managed to order for delivery to Next on Friday right next door to DH work.

And with that I am officially done 😀

Thanks so much for all the bargains, help, and general niceness in these threads, this is my 10/11th year I think and the spirit stays the same whatever craziness is happening in the outside world.

Reastie and Sideorderofchips, thanks for another year. And to everyone reading I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful 2023.

@Puffalicious fingers crossed ut's what you're waiting for!

Super grateful for these threads (and the Summer ones! We have enjoyed a beer52 adventure calendar, a baby anabell one *prequel) and Candy Kittens. Wrapped presents last night whilst doing Smashed Grapes wine tasting and eating bargain Green and Blacks- gifts included bargain oodies, kuddly sliders and a Candy Kittens hamper (for the born again vegan) to name but a few!

cymrumam · 22/12/2022 11:03

TK Maxx have put all their Christmas tableware into clearance including the Spode Christmas - most of their Christmas gifting is also now reduced

reallydoihaveto · 22/12/2022 11:19

It’s a Christmas miracle - my Smashed Grapes order arrived! I had non working tracking details and a £20 voucher sent to me in different emails so had no idea what to think but here we are! Phew Christmas presents for adults in family saved!!

mumonthehill · 22/12/2022 11:56

Also adding my thanks for this thread! Looking forward to next years!

Cuwins · 22/12/2022 12:04

If anyone is after last minute edible stocking fillers Tesco have Reese's trees on Clubcard offer- 75p down from £2.50 and chocolate orange truffles on a similar discount but didn't note the exact amounts

Mince314s · 22/12/2022 12:05

hotel chocolat Velvetiser and podster for £100 in store I saw it in Watford but looks to be more widely available. They say it's a saving of £££ but I think it's £20 off the best current offers and if you were in the market for a nice Cappuccino maker or a proper espresso machine it's a good combination.

And just to add thanks for the threads to the lovely reastie and sideorderofchips and everyone else being so lovely, definitely a good dose of Christmas spirit and my favourite part of Mumsnet 😊

Holidayqueen1 · 22/12/2022 12:06

Thank you @Reastie and everyone else for all the bargains. Beer advent calendar was my top bargain I think, but lots of others too!
last min request- I’ve got to buy a secret Santa ( for the new year), budget )7.50, recipient is female, not into fashion, make up or smellies. Has just moved house and is always cold, also runs and plays rugby, I have no clue what to buy, any ideas please? Thanks ( oh and she already has multiple pairs of turtle doves!)

frauzen · 22/12/2022 13:28

Hello bargain hunters and excellent ideas people, I know this is not a bargain but I have a gift emergency! I'm a foster carer and the kid's social worker has just given them new scooters as a gift (out of her own pocket so really very lovely) BUT the 6yo's main gift from us is a new scooter. So... to prevent a slightly flat Christmas morning I need gift ideas for a 6 year old, about £35/40 that I can get in a shop - can get to most main supermarkets and chain shops probably. She loves space, dinosaurs, drawing and colouring, being outside and singing. She's got lots of little bits so I need to make it one present I think. Does anyone have any ideas that might work? Thank you!

noscoobydoodle · 22/12/2022 13:36

@frauzen - roller boots, pogo stick or Cottage garden den kit ? (can buy all at John Lewis and probably lots of other places).

noscoobydoodle · 22/12/2022 13:39

Ooh or a kids kareoke machine- my DD had one from Argos that she loved.

frauzen · 22/12/2022 13:42

These are all great suggestions, a pogo stick might work! she is definitely not ready for roller boots (hyper mobile and clumsy!). We have a den building kit already and her Santa gift is a usb microphone thing. Xmas Confused
