I feel such an idiot

A few weeks ago with our Tesco order we got the preorder food catalogue.

It looked yummy and so I picked out what I liked the look of and put it in my basket for the Christmas delivery. I have been asking my oh to go through it and make the choice, which trifle. Which cake. Which meat etc for a few days and now he's finished work he sat down to do it last night

Only to find out it can't be changed as it has already been ordered. The cost is horrendous but the waste is awful. There are two of us, no guests and we have several trifles, logs, cakes cheeseboards. Party food, joints of meat, all 8 portions! The intention was to choose one of each.

I felt ill when he told me, luckily he was calm about it. Christmas is gonna last into February at this rate. Please tell me I'm not the only one?

It just shows you how many idiots posters don't bother reading OP's updates. It seems to be getting worse on MN for this lately. I really don't see the point, they don't bother reading anything, don't interact with anyone, just post their two penneth and go. So strange.

What do other people get their children? Stop comparing, you'll make your life miserable. Two year olds like balloons and a packet of chocolate buttons, they won't even know any different.

Refuse the delivery and get refunded. No biggie.

dancingqueen123 · 17/12/2022 22:52

I'd just cancel op & go shopping 🤷🏻‍♀️

You have got them what other parents get their children. The rest of it is just shit. Give her a box and she’ll be as happy as Larry. I used to think like you. Had a friend who would spend shit tons on her kids. Took me years to realise it’s all for show and most of it was crap. I’ve got two teens now, even I don’t remember what I got them at the age of 2.

Hairsolutions · 18/12/2022 01:52

If you’re giving presents to family/friends then keep the presents you’ve bought for birthdays or return and make up hampers with the tesco items and give that to them instead. Aldi have got cheep hamper baskets on sale at mo.

Just cancel the order and go to the shops for what you need. I am struggling to understand what the drama this TBH

I’m struggling to understand why people are still posting answers like this when the OP said pages ago that she’d sorted it out 🤷‍♀️

Probably because they can not find where she said it. I scrolled and scrolled and could not find the outcome. What is it?

If you click on “see all” it gives you just the OPs posts

she phoned Tesco and they took out the bits she didn’t want

LucyBee666 · 18/12/2022 10:09

Hi
Could you just tell the delivery driver that you’d like to decline some items as they’re not needed anymore?

thriftyhen · 18/12/2022 10:19

Just freeze it. Virtually everything freezes including cakes and cheese. You'll have nice food to last you over the next few months. If you don't have space in your freezer, maybe throw a party!

Sunshineamong · 18/12/2022 10:23

When the delivery arrives, say you’d like to do some returns. Take the things out you don’t want and have them back. I’ve done this with Morrisons with a few items. I’m sure you’ll be able to do it with more items. It’ll help in the refrigerator van until it gets back to the warehouse 😉

QuietOne121 · 18/12/2022 10:25

When the delivery driver arrives simply tell the driver that the good people of Mumsnet told you to do this and do that despite you already having sorted the issue last week.

ScreamInBlue · 18/12/2022 10:55

Ha ha ha, and it goes on...

sassdunn · 18/12/2022 10:56

True that! I was waiting for someone to pick up on it 😂 👏

birder · 18/12/2022 10:56

The gift that keeps on giving.

sassdunn · 18/12/2022 10:58

Oops... Replied in the wrong place. I was commenting on M&S not being able to sort a Tesco order out. Made me chuckle! 🤭

Needmorelego · 18/12/2022 11:03

This has made it to the press. Popped up on my Facebook feed. Birmingham News or something.
(Apologies if it has already been said that the press has it 😂)
