What gifts are you getting yourself this year?

Anyone else bought themselves a little gift (or two) this year?

I've decided to treat myself to a box of Christmas chocolates from Hotel Chocolat. I'm into fitness/running and nobody every buys me chocolate at Christmas because they think I'll disapprove?! (Definitely not the case!) Every year I watch everyone else opening their chocolates with envy...

I just bought myself a pair of earrings to wear at Christmas.

It's also my birthday in December and while I get lovely gifts, I do buy one thing I don't want to ask for as I think people will look strange at me. It can be anything, small, bigger, but it's normally something I really want for myself.

Ladiva1971 · 08/12/2022 21:49

Bought myself a Ninja foodi 11 in 1. I love it!!

Blowyourowntrumpet · 08/12/2022 21:51

I'm going to get myself a new iPad mini in purple

DipmeinChoc · 08/12/2022 21:51

Tickets to see Pink next year and a shiny new TV. Don't want/ need anything else.

Hush pyjama bottoms

Enjoychristmas · 08/12/2022 21:54

Would love to get myself a cashmere jumper. I generally can’t cope with wool as find it itchy but I have one cashmere jumper and pretty much living in it. Haven’t bought it yet though.

Same here. I get mine from John Lewis, they lasted ages. But I washed it with the wrong load and it shrunk :-(

I've done myself a stocking. No one else will be awake first thing in the morning so I will unwrap it and act delighted. It has:

  • a jar of honey
  • a mini Prosecco
  • some tiny gold earrings
  • a book
  • a bag of liquorice all sorts
  • a face mask
Nothing expensive but just nice small things. I am eyeing a very expensive candle though...

This is such a lovely idea, I'm doing this too and quite excited about Christmas shopping for me! I'm going to remove prosecco, earrings and liquorice and add:

  • warm woollen socks
  • ear buds
  • mascara
  • turkish delight (all mine as no one likes it 😂)

I bought new bed linen from a hotel supplier website , it's lovely and so white for now. Also the fluffiest white bath mats. I feel very pampered

Always keep shrunken Kashmir for the children. My girls were kitted out like the Beckham’s because I kept stuffing up the laundry.

LaurelGrove · 09/12/2022 08:57

@Justwanttobebythesea i think the trick to a great "me stocking" is to buy things that you know no one would ever give you but which fit the "small pleasures" brief. I'd absolutely buy socks if I didn't have lots. Other things I thought about:

  • incense sticks
  • tiny fairy lights for my bedside table
  • a little box for my medicine
  • a can of posh tinned fish

I am going to drink the Prosecco in bed when I wake up because why not?

Rainbowlights · 09/12/2022 09:29

I’ve bought myself Replica Beach Walk Perfume and a pair of doc Martin boots.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 09/12/2022 10:03

The other day, while in M&S buying a few small boxes of chocs for extra little presents and dh’s stocking, I bought myself a box of their peppermint creams, and ate 6 of them on the bus home. 🐷🎄
The rest didn’t last much longer - I did very nobly give a couple to dh, though.

MyCatsSlave · 07/12/2022 21:20

@MerlinsButler I have a very generous pet too,, so far my cat has got me a cashmere jumper, a book, some silk hair bobbles and perfume. She still needs to get chocolate, nice soaps and pyjamas. She’s not great at wrapping so I’ll do it for her.

I am loving all these generous pets! Who knew they made the best Christmas shoppers 😂

It acutally fits my daughter but she hates the colour (not black enough, it's rasberry pink) and I wear V-Neck and she doesn't.

Oh bugger, someone will be absolutely thrilled to receive it they are so cozy

AnyRandomName · 09/12/2022 11:32

I've just bought a few goodies from L'Occitane. Some that I needed and some as a treat.

I've also got my eye on an Hermes twilly scarf as I wear similar scarves in my hair quite regularly.

Gifts always hit and miss, eg last year someone gave me a door stop and I also received a hand whisk (!) so I like to treat myself too.

RosettaStormer · 09/12/2022 11:34

QueefofSheena · 06/12/2022 17:48

I’ve spent a bit on a some beauty advents and other skincare offers. They are my gift to myself and a nice treat in the run up to Christmas.

That’s what I have done too.

Mrsfussypants1 · 09/12/2022 12:26

Dcats do the stockings for dh & I, there are lots of us out there who have generous pets.
Mine this year:
*Bath honey
*Nails Inc Percy pig scented nail varnish set (I'll use these with dgd)
Hotel chocolat selectors x 2 was 3 ate 1 already
*Leaf shaped pop socket for my kindle from etsy
*clear case for kindle
*bed socks

I normally treat myself to a big ticket item in January usually something electrical like new tablet, or necklace but I don't need anything right now. I'm on holiday 2nd week of January, I plan on going to ikea and buying some new house bits, glass storage containers for the new fridge freezer, one of those fridge turn table things and some rechargeable light things.

2 pairs of fluffy "thigh high" socks (which are going to be knee high on me..)
A long sleeved slouchy top
A lovely notebook
and a 3rd oversized hoodie
a new bath towel sheet
Dragonfly printed bedding

PIL gave us an amazon voucher and told us to get ourselves things

KittenCatt · 09/12/2022 19:20

I’ve bought myself a North Face puffer jacket from Vinted (though, it’s new with tags), a pair of Hunter wellies and Loccitane almond shower oil 😊

Soccermumamir · 09/12/2022 20:07

I enjoy the sales after Christmas 🙂 That's when I'll get myself a little something 🎅
