I usually put mine up around the beginning of December, DH is usually happy to leave it to me and doesn't usually have any festive cheer until he's finished work for Christmas. This year is different though, he's already watched Christmas films with dd who's 7 and he's mentioned putting the tree up this weekend. I'm not sure if it's too early? On the other hand if he's found his festive cheer I'm going to enjoy it, christmas is my favourite time of year and I'm usually desperate for him to be more festive 😂

We put ours up when schools break up (so around the 15th December). I love Christmas, but I hate the idea of starting it early and dragging it out for a month or more.

We've got the tree up but only because we just bought a new one and didn't want to put the box away for a week. Decs aren't on it yet though!

Exactly the same here. It arrived on Thursday and seemed silly to pack it away.
So now it's up with about 3 decorations on (until later today when the kids will attack it with baubles). It is pre lit though so at least it looks pretty anyway.

First weekend of double figures in December so a few weeks to go yet.

I am however probably going to play my all-time favourite Christmas CD - Hely Hutchinson Carol Symphony.
Happy for that to have an airing early.

I don't understand the rush to get trees up so early! our tradition is always the tree needs to be up by 14th (my late sisters birthday)

paintitallover · 19/11/2022 09:25

Mine normally goes up around 19 th December.

So you can be first to post on social media? By middle of December everyone is bored of "likes" for Christmas decorations. Perhaps.

LuckyLuckyWoman · 19/11/2022 09:27

When I've got a day off sometime middle of December, comes down new years day while I'm at work :)

Totally agree, decorating a tree is part of our magic, and it just works better for us to do it when school is winding down, work slowing, Christmas movies are on, Christmas music on the radio.

We do love Christmas and like it to feel lovely and special, so to us, not everyone, but to us having a tree up longer than the summer holidays wouldn't make it feel special come Christmas day.

BettyOBarley · 19/11/2022 09:34

I adore Christmas but November is too early for me to put the tree up. Always first wknd in Dec for us and down on NY Day.
I'd probably have it up earlier/longer but Xmas decorations + mountains of kids toys makes my brain hurt after a while.
In your shoes though I'd be fully embracing it this year if your DH is feeling festive for a change!

RichardOsmansXraySpecs · 19/11/2022 09:38

I saw 5 different houses/flats with Christmas lights up yesterday and it made me happy. Too early for me though.

GravyDramas · 19/11/2022 09:41

I’m doing a spring clean of my house this weekend and have a day off work on Monday, so I’m thinking about putting up then. My next three weekends are really busy, so might as well do it while I’ve got time.

I’ve never put my tree up in November before, so it’ll be a novelty!

M8nes been up.for a week. Put it up when you like!

FlowersareEverything · 19/11/2022 09:55

You’re harming nobody, put it up whenever you want to. I’m happy to see others being happy.

Ours will go up at the beginning of December as usual and I really don’t care if anybody thinks that’s too early.

I'm putting mine up today. It will definitely make me happy, I went through a miscarriage 3 weeks ago and I need all the happiness I can get. I don't care about it being too early.

Snoooozzze · 19/11/2022 10:04

No, not got ours up yet!

My DH sounds like yours and he's suggested this year to put up the decs earlier that usual! Must be something in the air Grin

We usually do them the last weekend of November but we're going to York for the Xmas market so 1st December is our date! I'm looking forward to putting them up but I get tired of the clutter so don't like them up too early

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage, I've had 2 so know how it feels. Enjoy the Christmas decorations 😁

Had mine up since 1st November. Xmas Grin Have now bought all the pressies and they are wrapped underneath the tree.
Don't give a shinny one that others feel it's to early.

@CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease thanks so much for acknowledging my comment. So sorry for your losses Flowers

I wonder what's happened to all our DH's? Mine keeps asking when we can put the tree up. We usually do the first weekend in December and last year I ended up doing it in the second week by myself like it was a chore. Neither of us were really feeling Christmassy. This year he seems desperate to crack on.

LaurieFairyCake · 19/11/2022 12:08

Crack on !

I've literally booked the 1st December off work to put mine up as work was so awful
last year I didn't put mine up at all

I'm feeling SUPER Christmassy already - probably because I'm currently ironing and listing Christmas Pj's/jumpers that don't fit us on EBay !

Floralnomad · 19/11/2022 12:08

Ours are going up next Sunday - I’m out on Saturday evening which will give my husband time to do some deep cleaning before they go up .

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 19/11/2022 12:18

I went out this morning and came home to DH and DD decorating, so this weekend apparently.

Shodan · 19/11/2022 12:37

I've had to work hard scheduling an exact day and time when ds1 is free to come and choose the tree (always get a Norway spruce) because neither he nor ds2 will agree to one missing out on the annual tradition.

So buying the tree will be at 10 am on Sunday 4th December (and I will probably be slightly hungover due to a Christmas party the night before) 😂

Decorating it and the house will be sometime after that.

It's very strange. My DH usually has zero interest in putting the tree up and likes to avoid all thing's Christmas until he breaks up from work, me and the kids tease him every year about being a grinch but this year it's like he's had a Christmas personality transplant.
