Just saw this thread on waking and panicked that it was about Taylor Swift tickets 😂

blitzen · 15/11/2022 06:56

I've been on about 10 minutes now and I'm at 227k. It says wait time is an hour.

I8toys · 15/11/2022 06:57

On website at 0530. Queue 0545. Checked out 0620. Website better than app as all kicked me out once. It's got to be easier than this!

I’ve never actually ordered online food because I worked as a Sainsbury’s picker back in my uni days when it was all quite new (maybe 2007?).

The shopper would have ordered ‘fresh bunch of mint’. If it wasn’t in stock, my logic would tell me to give them the pot of fresh mint, but the computer would suggest a tub of ‘dried mint’. Or if they picked ‘Orange marmalade 500g’ and it wasn’t in stock, I’d have chosen them ‘Orange Marmalade 300g’ but the machine would say ‘Grapefruit marmalade 500g’.

It has genuinely put me off dotcom for life.

I do regularly order online and we're normally quite lucky with substitutions. And we're not really fussy so we can usually use them without a problem even if they're a bit weird.

I remember one of the substitutions I asked for a refund on was for nappies. My 13 yr old son is disabled and still in nappies so I quite often buy the Huggies Dry Nites, age 8-15 yrs of age.

They were out of stock so they thought that giving me the Huggies Dry Nites in age 2-4 yrs would be a good substitution.

It might have covered one of his arse cheeks I suppose 😅

Given up
Twice I've got to the front and that's as far as I go
Either I'm being v stupid (possible!) Or it's tesco

primeoflife · 15/11/2022 06:58

FFS got to 75000 and the app crashed so I'm giving up now. Could cry as set alarm half an hour early

Mummyoflittledragon · 15/11/2022 06:58

243006 thanks for the reminder!

Bemyclementine · 15/11/2022 06:58

This is bonkers, I logged in to sainsbury , booked a slot, put sone gin in the basket and checked out. Took me about 3 minutes with no queue

I honestly hate to be the one that tells you this but it's going down at a rate of less than 1000 per minute. If that carries on, you're going to be waiting nearly four hours.....

I'm currently staring down the barrel of a two hour+ wait and I've been on nearly an hour already.....

SalmonOnTheRock · 15/11/2022 06:59

@Bigboysmademedoit

Pre Covid, I had online accounts with both Tesco and JS, that I used intermittently, I was declared CEV post radio and chemo on March 23rd, Tesco emailed me overnight and effectively said we have your back.

I heard nothing from JS, so I called them three weeks later and was told we will get around to you, so I went from spending the GDP of a developing nation in JS with Tesco.

Still nip into JS for little bits, but they lost my loyalty of thirty years.

Bet you are sorry you asked... Grin

Beachhutnut · 15/11/2022 07:00

Just done mine. Loads of slots left right up to 23rd. When I got to front of queue I thought the page had frozen so took a screenshot and was panicking but after a minute of no action it automatically took me to the usual page so don't panic and leave the queue! Good luck everyone.

SalmonOnTheRock · 15/11/2022 07:01

Right pack to bed, leccy blanket is on, so retired bed snoozy bed beckons.....

🤣 now that will be some queue!

MermaidEyes · 15/11/2022 07:02

Tesco is always horrendous, they need a new system. Doesn't help they're the most popular for online shopping either which is probably why people booking with Sainsburys or Ocado don't have these problems.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 15/11/2022 07:02

My time isn’t going down at all now. The numbers slowly.
people need to just order something and update it later. I think loads must be doing their full Christmas shop now

dudsville · 15/11/2022 07:03

Wow, there's a big flaw in their system to do this to you all!

Sainsburys opened theirs a few weeks back and it was a calm process, log in, get your slot, done.

I love home delivery so much.

Mindymomo · 15/11/2022 07:03

I cannot believe there are that many delivery saver customers. I joined at 6.05 am and was 176000 in queue, now nearly hour later 132000. I really just want a normal Monday am delivery early that week.

Elmo230885 · 15/11/2022 07:03

I thought you were queuing for Peter Lay tickets. Just clicked on my Tesco app to check I wasn't being bullshitted! Good job I don't want a delivery any time soon.

You need to calm down.....

MrsLargeEmbodied · 15/11/2022 07:06

i thought it was mn registration number

DarkNecessities · 15/11/2022 07:06

I can’t be bothered tbh.

I usually order non perishables early Dec and store in a box. Then visit local/independent stores, farms and markets.

Notjusta · 15/11/2022 07:06

70000-ish! Mental. Set my alarm for 5:55 as had no idea it would be this bad. I don't understand why they can't cope with more people at once. My queue position goes down by about 500 every minute or so - surely they can cope with more people than that?!!

I was thinking earlier how shit this is really, but didn't want to sound like a whingy fun sponge.

But honestly, Tesco know what the traffic to their site is going to be like, to be THIS slow is pretty bloody shitty.

They should have increased their server capacity to deal with more traffic because a 3 hour+ wait is just stupid. Especially when other supermarkets seem to be able to deal with similar demand without a problem.
