Thread 9 - the one with stocking fingers

Reastie · 03/11/2022 14:41

@6poundshower thanks for the title. A stocking finger sounds far too small to fit many bargains in though! 🤣

Apologies for belatedly setting this up - was at a primary tour for potential school for ds and then working. Pesky RL! Hope you can all find me.

Is it Phillip Jones that quite often do discounts on their jewellery. Dd has asked for a bracelet and earrings from there but don't want to miss the chance to save a bit of cash!

Blizy · 06/11/2022 18:22

I'm looking to buy my 2 year old some Happyland or fisher price little people sets. Has anyone seen them anywhere with a discount?

If you don't mind second hand try Facebook marketplace or ebay- we got a happyland treehouse off eBay for dd a few years ago and it was great condition but much cheaper 😀

Blizy · 06/11/2022 18:37

I've been checking market place but nothing locally.
Thanks for the M&S tip, I'll have a look.

STom2 · 06/11/2022 18:40

@malingeringmary I picked some Cocomelon bits up for my 2 year old DS on the ToysforaPound site. A little clock, card game, stickers etc. Delivery was within about 2 weeks although not sure how reliable it is the nearer it gets to Xmas.

STom2 · 06/11/2022 18:42

Also @malingeringmary Aldi has a great Cocomelon vehicles set in atm (spotted online this morning). But it is over budget at £17.

Can I please ask for some help? I’m struggling for ideas! I have a £30 budget to get my BFF something. She’s very well off & I usually get her something kinda “luxe” (candle subscription, cashmere wrist warmers/socks). She’s very sick at the moment & isn’t looking forward to Christmas. I have no idea what to get her. Please help!!

thaegumathteth · 06/11/2022 18:46

@happytobemrsg what about a photobook of memories of the two of you? Or tickets to see something together if she's up to it and within budget?

BeaLola · 06/11/2022 18:51

Ewock I posted about it earlier today - it's the hardback version of Marple Twelve New Stories - £10 instead of £20

I also had an offer to add a new card to my Amazon account and received £5 credit against the book so a bargain at £5

I love the “space masks” warming eye masks, really luxurious and calming. They sell them in a multipack in Liberty around £15 and there are also some lovely Liberty jigsaws with 20-30% off so both together would be within budget at the moment if that would be her sort of thing.

TheHappiestChristmasTree · 06/11/2022 18:56

@Blizy if you get them from the entertainer website they often have money off, and you can use your Jack's Birthday Club 20% off too- if you sign up and put a birthday 3 weeks from today they will send you a code

ChristmasCwtch · 06/11/2022 19:06

@ahunf I bought packs of small baubles from TK Maxx for my DCs’ mini bedroom trees

Startuplife · 06/11/2022 19:11

Oh yes space masks are brilliant. I had one in my stocking last Christmas and thought it was a bit of a gimmick but I wore it on a flight in the summer and slept the whole flight. I can never sleep anywhere except in bed in the pitch black so I was amazed!

I did think of something like that but in Christmas she’ll be recovering from surgery & seeing if she needs more treatment & I’m worried it’s a bit too sentimental for now.

@NWnature i like the face mask idea. I’ll check them out l. Thank you

Does anyone remember what the ASOS Black Friday deal was last year? I’ve got a basket full of stocking fillers and I’m not sure whether to use today’s 20% or wait.

SBAM · 06/11/2022 19:20

@ahunf Primark had boxes of tiny baubles in their home section last time I was in there.

Are they single use or reusable?

For those wondering why the Smashed grapes codes only seem to be working for some...

FRCW56842Z gets you this cheese and wine kit:
www.smashedgrapes.co.uk/collections/tasting-kits/products/cheese-wine-tasting-kit

FRMW16985Z is for the Malbec one: www.smashedgrapes.co.uk/products/love-malbec-tasting-kit?_pos=1&_sid=cbeee90c5&_ss=r

Thank you, I have ordered the mixed wine and cheese kit :) It let me select a Christmas delivery date, so hopefully no issues with the cheese!

Startuplife · 06/11/2022 19:27

Single use unfortunately as they heat up when they come out of the packet

This reminded that the lady who sellls these usually has an offer on around now for buy 5 boxes get 1 free so if u like them/ use them amongst friends gifts worthwhile stocking up

Luckycatt · 06/11/2022 19:36

Space masks are incredible. I had no idea how relaxing it would be to heat your eyes up 😂. Guaranteed to make me fall asleep and sleep soundly.

They're really expensive for a single use item, though. I hate the waste and can't afford the cost.

psuedocream3 · 06/11/2022 19:36

Samsung galaxy s20 fe 5g in orange reduced to £379 at selfridges with 12 months Disney plus free, cheapest I've found by far. Link

Holidayqueen1 · 06/11/2022 19:41

@happytobemrsg how about cashmere socks or some really nice pjs? Esp if she will be recovering from surgery?

gavisconismyfriend · 06/11/2022 19:41
