I'll be doing theatre tickets or vouchers, book tokens, maybe 1 hoodie each, chocolate....last Christmas Japanese sweets were a big hit!
No more filler gifts, I've learned my lesson, just not worth the expense.
Experience vouchers are good.

snowmanshoes · 17/09/2022 15:37

Typo is much loved in our house.

Floor cushions/tote bags/nacho bowls/candles/mugs

Worth a look on their website -don’t work for them although have posted about them the other day too 😁

snowmanshoes · 17/09/2022 15:39

I agree @gerbo I’m stopping the filler presents too. Not necessary and my dd16 would prefer a £10 voucher for food with her mates than things that I buy because I feel I should lol

spagbog5 · 17/09/2022 15:48

We are getting dd3 (17) -

Harry styles standing ticket - going with friends
Dior lip gloss
Charlotte Tilbury miracle cream
Dressing gown

Stocking -
Costa card
Chocolate orange
Large smartie tube
Christmas coaster for her desk
Christmas decoration
Selfridge's London ready voucher -(manicure and brows)

Older dd's still get a stocking but less value other gift .

MissyB1 · 17/09/2022 16:04

No “filler presents” here either. Waste of money and I end up taking them to charity!

Ds will be 14 at Christmas. I’m thinking
Football kit
new football
Goalie gloves
North Face hoody
Football stadium tour
Nando’s gift card

Stocking
Pringles tube
stationary
big Toblerone
slipper socks

Deckthewallswithpaintandplaydough · 17/09/2022 16:10

Great ideas! Others I thought of:
manga books
japanese sweets
studying/revision supplies
face masks, skincare makeup etc.

My dd is nearly 16 for her birthday she’s requested the following:
Nomination charm
Victoria secret body spray
Benefit brow gel & mascara
plt pjs
A4 notebooks

Deckthewallswithpaintandplaydough · 17/09/2022 16:21

ah yes body spray <shudders> Dneice asked for tonnes of the bloody things last year

Also:
pandora bracelet and charms
pin badges
vinyl stickers for laptops etc.

I'm stopping all the fillers / bits I feel she will like too and only buying what I know she wants/ uses as otherwise it just such a waste.
Now things are back to normal I think tickets/ experiences are much more popular with our lot .

Brogues · 17/09/2022 16:59

The mumsnet beloved velvetiser.
Fitbit/smart watch.
Electronic diffuser/lamp.
kawaii plushies.
Ninendo anything.
Ear buds.

Holidayqueen1 · 17/09/2022 17:41

Great ideas, thanks! I’m shopping for a 13 yo boy and love the idea of Japanese sweets, where is the best ( cheapest!) place to get them or are they are pretty much similar prices?

thanks

alwaystrainers · 17/09/2022 18:34

Loving these thanks.
Velvetiser would go down well here too!

Deckthewallswithpaintandplaydough · 17/09/2022 20:37

Hi @Holidayqueen1! glad it’s useful! Do you want a selection box so to speak or individual sweets?

OP posts:
Deckthewallswithpaintandplaydough · 17/09/2022 20:39

Oooh we have a velvetiser! It’s awesome, dd likes hot milk with a little bit of cocoa powder and sugar in it, and I like a Baileys and white chocolate one (or vodka) Xmas Wink

Hobbycraft currently have some posca pens half price including a pastel pack.
Home Bargains have boxes of those Japanese Hello Panda biscuits for 25p.

Deckthewallswithpaintandplaydough · 17/09/2022 20:54

Great thanks for the pen tips, I will buy those for myself, have been wanting to for AGES

OP posts:
Holidayqueen1 · 17/09/2022 20:59

Thanks, that’s a great deal on the pastels, may get some for my son!
re Japanese sweets, I don’t mind whatever is cheap 😜
thank you!

Shwighty1 · 18/09/2022 02:49

We were buying Yeti cups for teens in the family, I’ve just discovered Wilko’s are doing a version of the wine tumbler and the tall tumbler for a quarter of the price!!

HM vouchers always go down well too

Deckthewallswithpaintandplaydough · 18/09/2022 06:29

This one looks good
