I had thought about new brushes. The sweet thing I could probably swing for both of them, as who doesn’t like sweets!!

Deckthewallswithpaintandplaydough · 20/09/2022 18:47

Sweets for both!!

For eldest dd, I have this actually and it’s great

For youngest dd, looks super comfy!! And great reviews

if neither are suitable I’m happy to look for somethings else Xmas Smile

My 14 year old ds is getting

Aftershokz bone conductor headphones and case
Face scrub/masks and bathbombs
Costa gift card
GAN pyraminx and skewb
A chess book he wants
Japanese sweets
New drumsticks
Piano sheet music
Plectrum holder
Running trainers
Clothes
A new board game-not sure which yet.
A guitar magazine for Christmas Eve, everyone gets a magazine on Christmas Eve, my Nan started the tradition and we kept it up.

That's from the whole family not just DH and I! We don't really do filler gifts, and honestly lots of it is things they would probably get anyway as they are mostly needed, everything on that list will be used.

YSL Beauty have 20% off fragrances and if spend £70 a free gift - think it’s a makeup bag and one brush but double check that!
I know Black opium is popular among my dd and her friends so thought I’d mention it!

Oh god remember last year's John Lewis glitch with YSL? Properly had folk frothing at the mouth.

Vargas · 21/09/2022 15:26

So pleased to see people saying NO USELESS FILLERS. Now let me try to convince DH not to buy any tat, he is terrible for crappy little toys and games that no one even unwraps...

Ideas from teen dd's recent birthday list:

magnifying makeup mirror
pillow sleep spray
poetry books
Agatha Christie books
lip gloss
balm cleanser
toiletries bag
pyjama bottoms
small nylon cross body bag
weighted blanket
gig tickets
art supplies
And lots and lots and lots of clothes!

hellswelshy · 21/09/2022 16:07

Thanks for the thread op, will be watching with interest for my dds. One beauty product mad, and the other books and art. They already have Harry Styles tickets so not looking to spend more than £150...hopefully

Another one trying to stop the filler bits. My ds is 17, a guitarist at a Performing Arts college. He lives and breathes guitars so I'm currently trying to ease a few different things in between the guitar based gifts! No fillers!

22Giraffes · 22/09/2022 14:13

Studio have unisex Vans here for £25.90 until tonight. Only up to size 6 so maybe for younger teens but still a bargain!

CamdenLurker · 22/09/2022 14:35

For anyone who has a dd requesting the Dior lip gloss/oil/balm if you buy direct from Dior it's free DPD shipping right now and you get to choose two free samples which come in a lovely Dior cotton drawstring bag which makes a great stocking filler (I choose miss Dior and Joy perfume samples) I'll take a photo and post it once I'm home.

I know the cost of these is eye watering, but honestly I'd rather spend the money on something I know dd's will love and is really special.

Last year I ordered the Lip addict balm from John and it just came in a standard mailing bag - so I guess that's why I'm so impressed!

JubileeTrifle · 22/09/2022 14:50

So far for DD I’m thinking:
DM boots
a case for her instax camera pictures and photo lights
painting stuff
chocolate
some posters
a dvd set (something we can’t stream)
trying to find nice socks she would like

i also not buying fillers, waste of money.

PolkaDotMankini · 22/09/2022 14:55

I've just bought DD a mood journal from Doris & Fred: www.dorisandfred.co.uk/collections/mood-journals/products/young-person-mood-diary Hers is the kids version and it's ace.

Looks lovely! Great ideas everybody! There are some books by this lady who was on gbbo, Kim joy, which would probably appeal to the teens that like baking. I have the celebrate one and it’s awesome!

Wow wouldn’t mind that myself!

Londoncatshed · 22/09/2022 21:31

Thank you @CamdenLurker
my DD has requested Dior. Previous years would have thought too expensive but trying to think less but what she actually wants!

CamdenLurker · 22/09/2022 21:46

I’m the same and always think about how much I could buy with the money spent on a lip gloss… but I gave in last year and got one each for my two dds and it’s probably the most successful gift they got, they both still know where it is and use it regularly, although they are almost used up and definitely ready to be replaced.

I’ve also got them both really nice perfume, eldest dd has Miss Dior which I got from Boots with £10 off, a free make up pouch and £10 in bonus points, and dd2 has Lancôme Idol which she’s been after for ages.

Rainbowshit · 23/09/2022 21:33

Last year I got the DC a box of Korean noodles as a bit of a joke. Could not believe how popular it was with them and their cousins.

snowmanshoes · 23/09/2022 21:59

I agree with everyone saying buy direct for things - or Atleast look as often there will be freebies with it offers and agree the packaging is so much better - makes it a bit more special when not buying as much but more quality items!

Whengodwasarabbit · 23/09/2022 22:32

mines having miss Dior and the lip gloss as main presents. Really pleased I read here those little samples are cute in the bag perfect stocking fillers Thankyou.
Also having charm for her Pandora bracelet, a seller on eBay makes them personalised with a photo so I’ve got one with our dogs on. Cost under 10 pounds.
kiipix Polaroid printer, different styles/colours of film, a scrapbook loads of stickers, tape and craft bits so she can make nice arty photo albums. So much nicer than them just being on camera roll, old school.
Custom Nike socks, so far have bought tie dye pink, purple and baby blue.
Hagrid’s hut terrarium it’s so cute and cost just over a tenner. Be something fun to make over Christmas 🎄
Im also not buying fillers or tat this year to bulk it out I’m buying a fake oodie fluffy pjs and socks. She likes to dress like it’s summer and whack the heating up. That’s definitely not happening this year 🤣

saltedcaramelhotchoc · 24/09/2022 12:43

CamdenLurker, thanks for the Dior tip. That looks great. I'm just ordering - did you select eco shopping or couture gift box? Thanks!

CamdenLurker · 24/09/2022 14:10

If you select the couture packaging it comes in a nice gift bag too! I took the small bag out to photograph 👍🏻

ohmyohmy123 · 25/09/2022 13:33

Does anyone have any good experiences they can recommend for 13 year old? I feel like he'd appreciate something to do rather than gifts either with us or with friends.

I've thought about a driving experience...he's too young for the go karting near us as that's from 14 other otherwise he'd have loved that.
