I can never usually think of anything nice to get off DH (who always asks what I want and I can never usually think of anything). What's everyone asking for this year? x

As I'm a single parent I'll 100% be buying myself gifts this Christmas (though my friends will probably take DD shopping to pick something up for me). Dream wish list would be:

Bottle of the verrrrrry expensive perfume I like but can't afford
New Balance trainers
Scarf from Black & Beech
Bottle of good gin and tonic
The red coat I didn't buy 4 years ago and still regret
A £100 book voucher
Fjallraven backpack🎒

I don't know if your on the bargain thread but there was a really good deal on a first box from craft gin club that I believe included really good gin (I don't drink but got one for my bf Xmas present).
The offer has finished now but apparently they appear reguarly

Gift giving between DH and myself is relatively new to us, in the past we’ve never had finances and it’s always been about prioritising the DCs. After reading a MN thread we decided to buy our own gifts that we really wanted rather than needed then we gave them to each other.

I bought, several pairs of new earrings, fancy fashion ones I’d never normally justify buying just to go with one outfit type thing.
Jewellery box to put them in.
Perfume that reminded me of my youth and party days
New Dress
Expensive Candle. I also bought a hogwarts one which really did make me think it smelled like Hogwarts.

This year I’m getting myself new make up brushes, nice ones not cheap homebargins ones for a change.
More perfume, something more expensive than anything else I’d buy normally buy.
Seriously considering a Dyson air wrap (struggling with the cost though)
New purse
Id like some jewellery, new every day diamond studded earrings or a nice ring, I can’t wear my wedding or engagement rings anymore as I’m a lot fatter these days and like some bling on my fingers.

SkirridHill · 02/09/2022 19:50

@Cuwins I am lurking on those threads! Have been debating the craft gin box. Will keep my eyes peeled. Thank you!

SingaporeSlinky · 02/09/2022 19:50

My problem is that relatives start asking me what I’d like them to get me, so I look for ideas, but end up wanting such a specific one that I end up just buying it myself. Let’s say I want a book on houseplants, I’m a bit too much of a control freak to just ask for ‘a book on houseplants’ so start looking in shops and find a good one, then think ‘well it’s on sale’ so buy it there and then. Then when they ask me, I’ve got no idea again.

The £9.99 deal was I think (without knowing anything about gin) a really good deal- if it comes round again I would definitely get it as gift to yourself!

PeanutCat1 · 02/09/2022 20:09

I haven't really put much thought into what I'd like yet but DH got me a really nice Elemis Marine range skincare set last year, it was an excellent price as well so if they do them again I'll probably ask for one of those.

I've also asked my mum to knit me a nice pair of socks which will be lovely.

I really enjoy and value homemade gifts and also like a surprise so I'll be happy with anything really. Both of our families are very crafty and thoughtful so I can honestly say I've loved every gift in the past.

spiderontheceiling · 02/09/2022 20:59

I have quite a long list most years!
This year, I would like some new perfume, a gold necklace (or two as I can't decide which one I like most!), a new handbag (or three! Again, can't decide)
And that's just the immediate things I can think of!

ytrewq1 · 02/09/2022 21:48

@YelloCar a very lovely memory!

Nidan2Sandan · 02/09/2022 21:59

DH usually buys me trainers or boots and he has fabulous taste. This year we're probably too skint so wont expect anything, but if he does I hope its sketches uno trainers 😁

One year he bought me a bunch of chunky knits which was amazing!!

17caterpillars1mouse · 03/09/2022 17:30

Books mainly that I'll then struggle to read as I can't seem to focus on anything these days. Books and chocolate truffles.

I'd like cash really as need new clothes, winter coat, boots etc but nobody gives me money or vouchers as they say I'll just spent it on the kids (probably true)

If I was being frivolous I would love the new Lego Creator lighthouse but at £250 it's not going to happen

Needmorelego · 03/09/2022 17:37

Some Lego....cos I need more (🙂 see user name).
Not decided on a specific set yet. It's always a dilemma because there's the January 1st releases so I often ask for "money for Lego" but I do like something to build on Xmas Day.

MotherWol · 04/09/2022 17:49

dudsville · 02/09/2022 07:42

@MotherWol , which peanut butter is that please?

@dudsville any peanut butter! I really like Pip and Nut but to be honest I’d be thrilled with a big hamper of different brands of the stuff and some crackers to put it on!

ThreeRingCircus · 04/09/2022 18:56

I have a list that I keep updated all year round with things I'd like but aren't strictly necessary so I can give DH and DM some ideas when they inevitably ask me what I'd like for birthday or Christmas. We don't do a lot of presents in our family, usually two or three items so I won't get everything on here but it's a list of ideas:

Microfibre hair turban
Lindor dark chocolate truffles
Really nice bottle of Pinot Noir
Neom reed diffuser/scented candle
Turtle Doves cashmere gloves
Amaretti biscuits
Miss Dior perfume
William Morris print mug
Bed socks
Bottle of Bloom gin
Pyrex baking tray
Cake stand
Coffee beans

Stompythedinosaur · 05/09/2022 21:41

I think I will ask for a third of a cricut (so a joint gift between me and my two dds as I think we will all use it).

Brogues · 06/09/2022 07:33

Cuwins · 01/09/2022 20:49

I have the same problem so I have been making a little list over the year- helped by the fact I'm on mat leave so not able to buy myself things as I would normally. I have: phone case, iPad case, a couple of books, a new lunchbox and water bottle, pjs and possibly a Fitbit but that might be out of budget as my partner and I keep a strict budget which isn't very much hence why it's none expensive things.

Tesco club card points x 3 for the Fitbit maybe? Just got the kids one each for free using mine.

I’d love a Fortnum and Mason wooden tea advent calendar but can’t bring myself to spend that much on tea!

Other things on my wishlist are
roller boots
Sezane Artemis belt
gold plated earrings

PP who wants a crystal maze team member - I’m in!

Defiantlynot41 · 06/09/2022 10:57

Everything on @SkirridHill and @ThreeRingCircus lists (except the Dior perfume, for some reason I cannot get on with Dior) - I'd swap for Jo Malone English Oak & Hazelnut

Beauty Advent calendar - Fortnum & Mason, John Lewis or Harrods
Hotel Chocolat dark chocolate advent calendar or one of the little dark choc wreaths with fruit & nuts. I do wish they'd bring back the "less sugar selection" box of chocolates too
Petite length leather biker jacket if such a thing existed
New yoga gear - Sweaty Betty, Lululemon or other fancy/high performance brand
Trip to the Northern Lights (we ARE talking a fantasy list here, right?)
Hot brush to tidy up my hair
Living Proof or Pureology hair products
Monthly flower subscription from Cornish Blooms
Coffee subscription from Colombia coffee roasters in Oxford
Magazine subscription
Selection of paperbacks
Half bottles of champagne
Some really nice white wine - Pouilly Fume ideally

Ah well... I can dream !

Pompom2367 · 08/09/2022 06:26

This year I'm struggling last year I had just had DD and this year I will be pregnant again with our little surprise so want to avoid clothes will need to wrack my brain

Sweetener12 · 08/09/2022 11:04

Fancy pjs
Funny socks
Some really nice smelling body lotions
Also I've been into genealogy lately, so would probably appreciate getting books on that. I'm having my eye on Photoglory Pro at the moment, would really love to upgrade the standard version I have now, but that's probably what I'm treating myself with on my own waaaay before Christmas comes.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 08/09/2022 11:10

Lego. I would love the lighthouse. I also love the Harry Potter stuff and we don't have any of the newer ones but we have soooo much and nowhere to display it. The lighthouse would be very much mine and could go on display.

Book tokens. Occasionally books but frankly having to tell people which ones to get takes the joy out of it. Plus special stuff I tend to preorder a nice edition anyway.

Nice dark chocolate. Not hotel chocolat. Either seriously posh or just something like the dark lindt balls.

Cocoa butter bath melts.

A new White Company fireside candle. I'm not generally a scented candle person but that one smells beautiful and mine is nearly finished.

Matildahoney · 08/09/2022 11:16

I hate people asking me as I have expensive taste & my family don't have the budget, so I just ask for a voucher.
I'm 40 in November so coupled with Christmas I'd love a classic Chanel handbag, but I'm also in early pregnancy so the £3k could be better used elsewhere!
OH and I usually just go for a Michelin star meal as we love our meals out & probably won't get chance for a couple of years now!
I think this year's request will probably be John Lewis vouchers so we can buy baby things!

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 08/09/2022 12:07

new blanket/throw for the bed
black casual jersey type blazer
trainers - stans or air force 1
nice bath stuff - Neal's Yard, Molton Brown, M&S fragrance collection
good chocolate
Sour Cherry dinosaur stud earrings
Thick wool socks

Watchthesunrise · 08/09/2022 12:16

Luxury bedding
Silk pillowcase and silk eyemask

Ancfib · 08/09/2022 13:23

I have a few things on mine this year! I might ask for a oneforall eat out voucher, Or a Waterstones one!
I also am going ask for a yeti water bottle and travel mug :) I've heard great things about them.
I might try and convince my partner to get me a kindle.. see how well that goes! Haha and I need some new trainers so I might ask for those too. :)

torthecatlady · 08/09/2022 20:36

A new Filofax insert and a massage probably.
