Ah these are good ideas thanks. My son's teacher is BRILLIANT so I really want to acknowledge that but appreciate that the volunteers are doing so much of the grunt work and the 121 time with all the little ones it's unfair to miss them out. My son going to school has been such an eye opener (who knew every week there was Pudsey week, sports day, book day etc... Darn expensive!!)

RainbowPhilosophy · 07/07/2022 12:44

I bought a load of Terry's chocolate oranges (maybe 10? they're only £1 each in Asda so don't break the bank) and gave them a big bag so all the staff could take one. Then for his keyworker I bought things I knew she liked and he drew a picture and card etc. The chocolate was very well received!

EverydayIsPJday · 07/07/2022 14:22

Thanks very much everyone I will go down a similar route I think. I snapped up that bath flower soap petal gift set from amazon the other day for his teacher so will find some nice choccies to go with that for the rest of the staff.

On a different note I've just found this marble run for my son, don't actually need it for his birthday but he will LOVE it so may swap it for something else that was on his list. Currently half price at John Lewis and Amazon for £18.50

Nursery teacher gifts I have bought a Yankee candle, set of face masks with headband from next, some bath bombs that I've wrapped in colourful paper. I have five to buy for (special needs nursery unit) but not sure of it looks a bit naff?? Also not sure if it looks enough? I'm going to get son to make cards too. They've been brilliant which is why I feel I need to get something else too?

Favouritefruits · 07/07/2022 14:56

Lindt are doing 5 boxes for £20 I’ve bought these for my sons nursery teacher and my other sons school teachers/assistants.

FluffyFluffMonster · 07/07/2022 16:09

Thanks to the poster who suggested the usborne dolly sticker books. I got the set today and it's lovely!

Fuckingfuckssake · 07/07/2022 16:56

I don't suppose anyone can link to the sticker dolly books at Aldi please? I'd really like some but I'm housebound with Covid currently.

FluffyFluffMonster · 07/07/2022 17:17

I just looked and it's buy in store only.

Fuckingfuckssake · 07/07/2022 17:54

Thanks @FluffyFluffMonster

FluffyFluffMonster · 07/07/2022 18:44

I didn't see this in store today but how lovely is this set and a great price too!

John Lewis has further reductions.

For example, in the Sewing, Knitting and Crafts section there are Rowan yarns in a few colours at less than a quarter of the original price, which could either be Christmas presents in themselves or crafted into them, Christmas and other fabrics at 70% off and this felt Holly wreath kit for £3:50 - apparently reduced from £24.

Thanks @tabbycat985 for that advent calendar thing with the little bags, that's such a bargain!

I'm going to attempt making that up for DH, he's been absolutely fantastic this year in terms of supporting me through my mum's decline with dementia and I'm now going to be looking for thoughtful wee gifts for him.

FluffyFluffMonster · 08/07/2022 10:58

@CarrieMoonbeams sorry to hear about your tough time!

Smuggle have an amazing sale on atm. Great prices on back to school bags, bottles etc. there's also a beauty advent calendar for £9 reduced from £26! It's up to 70% off and an extra 40% until Monday! Free delivery over £50!

Iwantthesummersun · 08/07/2022 13:38

Teacher her. In Scotland so on holiday already. I have been overwhelmed by the gifts from families this year up but the most precious has been the letters of thanks. They mean so much more than any gift Please never think that anything you give is considered naff. It isn’t. It’s so appreciated.

InDreamland · 08/07/2022 14:18

Not a bargain or even gift related but thought worth sharing that Boots have released appointments to book a Winter Flu Jab from September.

tabbycat985 · 08/07/2022 15:13

I'm sorry to hear about your mom @CarrieMoonbeams Dementia is such a horrible, heartbreaking thing.
I hope the little bags are sturdy enough, the reviews are good so fingers crossed!

Would anyone have a working discount code for H&M please?

CarrieMoonbeams · 08/07/2022 16:27

Thanks @FluffyFluffMonster and @tabbycat985 , that's very kind of you.

It's nice to have something positive to think about, and that's why I was so happy when I saw those wee bags - I'll spend time thinking of nice wee things to put in them for him. We don't have DC but we absolutely love Christmas!

Burnt0utMum · 08/07/2022 16:35

If you don't already have a H&M account you can get 10% off when you join. When you enter your birthday enter tomorrow's date and you'll get a voucher for 25% off 1 item. If you're already a member, you could try signing up again with a different email address, not sure if that'll work or not as haven't tried myself.

Magik01 · 08/07/2022 21:12

2 piece puzzles for toddlers half price on Amazon, down to £6 from £12. All based on books like the gruffalo, snail and the whale etc. would make a lovely present for a child aged 18 months upwards I would say.

Magik01 · 08/07/2022 23:09

Apples to Pears Ocean Adventure Tin down from £14 to £3.50 on John Lewis, would make a lovely stocking filler for young children.

They also have Apples to Pears My Garden Playset In a Tin down to a fiver.

My son received the farm version of this for his birthday and loved it. Really handy if your going on holidays/out to a restaurant and want to keep the kids entertained as well!

That ocean adventure one looks like something I would love for my daughters birthday but I'm thinking most of the pieces might be too small as she will only be 1. I wouldn't mind if some of them were to small- I could put them away but it's hard to tell in the pic if any of them would be big enough

Magik01 · 09/07/2022 05:26

@Cuwins I found this picture on Amazon on the sizes of the animals on the farm tin, I’m assuming the ocean one might be similar.

You could always get it and save it for her second birthday if you think they are too small 😄
