Joining as the time of year I start to really plan Christmas. Want to get DS a switch this year, anyone have any tips on how to keep an eye out for deals? New to buying tech so a bit clueless!

@Fuckingfuckssake Yes, order receipt email Friday evening, despatch email Monday and it arrived yesterday :)

@DreamingofItaly2023 I've picked up a switch today. The best deal I could find was from Argos where you buy the console and can get a free game or a game for £5/£10 extra depending on what game you want! I got pokemon for an extra £5 so it came to £265 in total. Game is usually £40

I also did PayPal pay in 3 so I can spread the cost over 3 months. Doesn't seem so bad that way

For anyone struggling a bit with the big ticket items, I highly recommend working out roughly what you'd spend and saving about that each month then transferring it over at buy time. Sounds really basic but makes it so much easier to buy as and when you want plus easier to see how you're doing against the total.

Thanks to the poster who mentioned the Christmas wrapping paper in John Lewis in Oxford. I think I have just bought enough roll and tags to last a couple of years, for the princely sum of £1.50!

Small gift bargain, Ohh Deer are selling 3 mini plant pots for £5 (normally £8.95 each), I also picked up some of the packs of mystery seeds to go with them (hopefully!).

They ship outside UK, will charge in Euro but there is no free shipping option outside the UK.

Anyone else having trouble with Hamleys? I ordered two items and one was out of stock, so they sent the one in stock without telling me about the issue, but I don't want just the one. This means I have to return the thing I don't want, but they won't refund the postage, despite not giving me the option to cancel before dispatch. I'm quite annoyed.

@NoWordForFluffy haven't ordered from hamleys but if you happened to use PayPal i think you can claim the postage back

@NoWordForFluffy not this year but have had problems with Hamleys previously. Took ages to send out and like you had stuff missing and then had to chase for refund.

My John Lewis order arrived. The onesie are fabulous, can't wait to see the kids in them at Christmas.

They've actually refunded me after I put the problem to them very clearly on Twitter DM. If they'd just given me the option before dispatch, there wouldn't have been a problem!

I think someone up thread said H&M pull similar daft bloody tricks.

We got the dog onesies from JL. They're adorable and look very useful for winters without heating!.
