Morning. Good luck with the SenCo & giving blood today Fluffy

puss I topped up my potatoes yesterday but I think I may have been too late with the one bag as the shoots were getting big

I ordered circular knitting needles which should be coming today or tomorrow and have started another cross stitch Christmas card to keep me busy (the Wrendale Christmas Robin one).

Work then voting in the local election (only 2 choices, Tory or labour in my area) then to my parents for tea and to see my niece and nephews today.

WreckTangled · 05/05/2022 09:59

There's no elections here. Annoyingly

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 05/05/2022 10:11

We don't have elections either Wreck.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/05/2022 10:49

We do. I spoilt my vote, as I did last year too. Doubt they'll get the message, however.

Choice was C (nope), L (doesn't know what a woman is), LD (ditto), G (ditto). We need a decent indie to stand up here!

CrazyBaubles · 05/05/2022 11:05

It's really annoying - where we lived before we had a lot of options, including 2 independents. Here there are just the 2.

The C candidate is a young young lad. His dad has been out knocking doors with and for him. Had an 'interesting' conversation about some local issues - weirdly he hasn't been back although he's returned to our street 😂
Haven't seen or heard from the labour candidate at all so I have no idea what he believes or stands for.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 05/05/2022 11:16

I bought a "feliway" yesterday, on the advice of the vet.
I'm starting to think it works on men...DH insists it's made him tired and he needs a nap 😹 win-win...he's already nodded off on the sofa 🤦‍♀️ I've shifted him to the conservatory for some peace and quiet.

Good luck with the SENCo Fluffy.

No elections here either.

Crazy They'll be fine - it won't be too late, the tiny baby potato buds won't be bigger than a pea yet. You just need to check them each afternoon/early evening and top up as you go. As long as it stays warm and damp they'll grow really quickly.

I need to order some 4mm circular needles as mine have disappeared somewhere - I've rooted through my "Chester" drawers (I bought them from a shop in Chester😹), spare wardrobe (with enough yarn to keep Glamorous Woolly busy for a year) and cupboard of many patterns. They're not in my stitchy/knitty bag of current projects either...hmm, I didn't check my box of aida, but why would I put them in there..?

CrazyBaubles · 05/05/2022 22:00

puss What is a feliway? And did you find your needles?

I'm just home. My knitting needles have been delivered. How long should they be? These are approx 10cm(?) - they look so small! I'll try them out tomorrow and see how I go.

Morning!

It was a lovely day yesterday. I'm hoping the corner has been turned on the weather front. Nighttime temps are all showing as double figures, so that's something.

Thank god it's Friday. I'm tired this week.

WreckTangled · 06/05/2022 06:22

Morning. I feel really sick this morning. And sweaty too. Yesterday I had a headache all day and woke with it still but it's not with paracetamol. Might do a Covid test just in case. Bleurgh.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/05/2022 06:25

Oh no, Wreck. I hope you feel better soon, whatever it is.

OP posts:
pussycatlickinglollyices · 06/05/2022 08:33

Crazy no luck on the needles, I don't know where else too look. Yours sound a bit short for me, I usually buy separate pairs in the size I need, like these which are the current MIA pair.🤦‍♀️
The Feliway thing is a plug-in diffuser. It's supposed to calm the cats down. There's a tabby that keeps visiting our garden and kitchen roof and it's upsetting our 2. I chase the little bugger off when I see him even if he is quite cute but I need to scrape ours off the inside of the windows calm ours down a bit.😹

Wreck hope you feel better soon.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 06/05/2022 08:38

Crazy fancy having a bash at this 🐶

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 06/05/2022 16:49

Hope you feel better soon Wreck, so many colds about at the moment as well as Covid.

I was on ecg and venepuncture training today. Very disconcerting having to stick a needle straight into someone's arm but quite therapeutic when you see the blood going into the bottle.

WreckTangled · 06/05/2022 17:03

I feel better thanks.

I have venipuncture training in a couple of weeks. Not that I'll ever do it but it's an option as part of my uni course and I thought why not Grin

Morning!

The forecast was thankfully right, and it's now sunny this morning after raining from mid-afternoon yesterday. Two loads of washing are waiting to go out on the line once the starlings have had their breakfast.

I was going to go to Sainsbury's, but can't really be arsed. I'll have a shorter wander to Aldi instead.

I'm on day 3 of a headache. Not sure if it's hayfever or hormone related. It's annoying, however.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 07/05/2022 09:32

Morning. We had an almost hot day yesterday. It was 21°. Looks like it might rain later today so trying to get the washing done. I didn't get home until 1am so am very sleepy.

Fluffy that sounds horrible

NoWordForFluffy · 07/05/2022 10:18

The starlings are getting feisty! Just had one sitting in the windowsill flapping at us to get more mealworms out (they were soaking in a tub by the window)!

It's lovely outside today. We've not had the same temps as you though, Wreck!

Morning!

We had a BBQ yesterday, but it wasn't warm enough to eat outside. I was also exhausted and could barely stay awake all day. I ended up in bed just after 9pm! Woke early though, so maybe got 8 hours.

Headache is ongoing. It's either hayfever or hormones. Or both. Happened last year too, IIRC.

Allotment today for a bit. Weeding to do!

WreckTangled · 08/05/2022 10:18

A day of housework here today. Pil's might pop over later. Lovely sunny day again.

CrazyBaubles · 08/05/2022 11:43

Morning (just). It was boiling here yesterday and seems to be the same today. Met office says 19° but it feels hotter than that already.

Yesterday we used it to clear the washing basket. Today DH is doing the lawns.

I went out for lunch and into town for some shopping with a friend yesterday which was nice.
Today is for the last bit of housework, possibly an hour of work (application for a promotion 🤞🏼), cross stitching and possibly some knitting.

Hay fever has been awful the last few weeks and it's caused a few headaches here Fluffy so you have my sympathy. I'm currently taking 2 antihistamines on the worst days, plus nasal spray (a lot) but haven't found anything that stops my eyes from watering yet.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/05/2022 11:59

The headache went with paracetamol and codeine, thankfully. I woke in the middle of the night, and it was horrific at that point. At least I got back to sleep.

I've cleaned the kitchen etc and made spiced red cabbage, as it's too nice to only have at Christmas! I'm heading off to the allotment to feed the birds and do some weeding. I'll pop to Aldi for a couple of bits on my way home.

I've already ironed the two bits of uniform, so that job is done! I can sit down later now!

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 08/05/2022 12:02

And good luck with the promotion, Crazy. Will it lead to more meetings? That's what promotion leads to at our place. Hence avoiding it! 🤣

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 09/05/2022 06:20

230 morning! Lovely day yesterday. I got four loads of washing dry and we went to the pub for a drink. I caught the sun a bit Blush next week is looking even nicer

Countdown to Christmas 2022: spring has sprung, bring on the longer days! Thread 2.
NoWordForFluffy · 09/05/2022 07:36

Morning!

The cloud burned off here mid-afternoon, so I have a bit of a tan from the allotment!

We only dried one load, two on Sat. Then one went out yesterday evening and another is on now!

We have rain forecast for 5pm onwards, which is fine by me, as it saves watering the allotment / garden!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 09/05/2022 09:17

Morning. It's going to be warm but cloudy here today apparently.
Yesterday was lovely though so I spent the afternoon cross stitching in the garden while DH swore lots fitted guttering to the shed and attached drainage pipes to the water butts either side and put together a new garden storage box (which I did moan about him buying but it means I get the old, smaller one purely for plant pots and gardening stuff so it's actually worked out well).

Apparently we're not getting rain until tomorrow so I may have to throw some water on things later - but not the herbs because I think I'm overwatering them.

Fluffy most promotions in our place mean more meetings but the one I want is for a more technical role so I'd be more of a point of contact for queries and advice which all needs an audit trail so should be more emails rather than actual meetings (I hope anyway)!
