We ended up going to the cinema and for lunch. Tired now. Plus we only went to Bella italia and it was so slow, we arrived at 2 and got our mains at 3:15 Hmm we did have starters but had finished them a good 45 minutes beforehand.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/05/2022 18:27

Thank god you had starters, Wreck! That's really poor service, isn't it?

I'n feeling rather broken having done plenty of digging at the allotment! I put my peas out. I don't think they'll last, as they got eaten by the rabbits last year. Time will tell though!

I weeded one of the flower beds and put more seeds down; there are flowers about to bloom which came from seeds dropped last year, which is good!

I was working all day yesterday but today my daughter brought her doggo round and we went out to buy sunloungers from Morrisons.

Morning all.
We're in the middle of tidying up the garage. The order for the replacement door will go in tomorrow, but we need to get rid of a freezer and a load more accumulated random crap from in there too.
There's another batch of stuff to go in the loft...I just hope structurally it doesn't all fall thru the ceiling. 😱
I suspect DH is trying his hardest to kill the old Dyson. I've caught him kicking it more than once this week.🤣 It sound rougher than a bears arse at the mo...I'm not sure it'll last much longer. He said he'll have a party when he can finally get rid of it🍾🎉

pussycatlickinglollyices · 02/05/2022 07:37

hang on...it's missed a bit
I typed structurally it's ok and it doesn't fall thru the ceiling...

🤦‍♀️

WreckTangled · 02/05/2022 08:20

Morning. We're not doing anything today. Dh is working and I need to fold all the washing.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/05/2022 08:58

Morning!

The weather is at least dry here today. It's not hugely warm, but at least it isn't wet!

We're considering going to the local wetland place, but I need to get motivated first, let alone the kids! 🙈🤣

Posted too soon

Yesterday was almost a complete lazy day for me - I cleaned most of the house on Saturday so yesterday I knitted, cross stitched, walked etc while DH did the last few jobs, batch cooked and cleaned the kitchen.

I finally finished my Christmas card cross stitch (apart from adding glitter snow flakes which I'll do in December when I make it into a card) 🎅🏻

NoWordForFluffy · 03/05/2022 14:28

Afternoon!

I'm slightly up the wall today...as ever! One day it'll improve. 😬

What are you knitting Crazy? I'm crocheting a blanket for WH currently. I'm on the border so it's the home stretch but it doesn't seem to be getting any bigger. I need to start something portable to take to a knit and natter group I started at last week. Maybe some socks 🤔

CrazyBaubles · 03/05/2022 21:44

Ooh how is the group Woolly?

I'm not actually knitting anything yet, I'm still just practising so doing rows over and over, trying to figure out how to sort out my tension etc.

Tonight I've actually spent the last hour trying to remember how to cast on Blush and attempting continental style knitting.
I have standard knitting needles but they feel really long and hard to hold - maybe I'm too used to a crochet hook but I'm considering buying some short needles to see if that makes it any easier. What do you think?

TheWoollybacksWife · 03/05/2022 22:06

The group is fab. I'm the youngest and I'm no spring chicken! Plus I made the rookie error of wearing makeup and styling my hair before I went last week so it's going to have to be Glamorous Woolly that turns up every week from now on 😂

You could try short needles - I've got a set from Amazon although these days I prefer my circulars for pretty much everything.

I never got on with continental style. I'm meeting a friend this week who does the most amazing colour work continental style. She holds one colour in her right hand and one in her left. Its mind blowing.

CrazyBaubles · 03/05/2022 23:17

A colour in each hand and doing continental style? 🤯 And here’s me struggling to hold the needles properly 😂

Love the idea of glamming up to go to a knit and natter group. Wonder if it’ll be as dramatic as our previous posters mums one used to be….

Morning!

I think it potentially rained overnight, which is good news if it did. We have rain forecast today (or did; I've not checked yet), which is a shame for DD as she's on a school trip to some activity place.

Woolly, that sounds fun. You could gradually tone down the glam each week until you're 'normal' Woolly! 🤣

Crazy, I have no clue on continental style knitting, but my mind was blown with the colour in each hand!

I should finish my Nutcracker by the end of the week. Then I'll move on to the golden wedding one. If I can persuade my printer to sodding print the pattern, that is! 🙄

pussycatlickinglollyices · 04/05/2022 08:57

Morning.
Crazy try a pair of circular needles, they're easier to tuck away and not really much longer than your hand is wide. Like Glamorous Woolly, they're the only ones I use now, if at all possible.
Not heard of continental knitting, so thanks for the rabbit hole for this afternoon - I suspect needing 4 hands (one for each needle and one for each colour of wool) might be the limiting factor with me.🤦‍♀️
Rained here from about 8pm until 7 this morning.
I also have spud growth 🥔 so will need to top them up with more compost tomorrow when they've dried out a bit.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/05/2022 09:15

Now I think about it, I was woken at about 4am by the rain. I'm glad it rained properly; we really needed it.

No spud growth here yet, I'm not expecting it for a couple of weeks, mind. I think yours have been in longer than mine, Puss.

I do often ponder why we haven't evolved to have a second set of arms (retractable), Puss. It would make sense. 🤔🤔

I have a metal circular needle for making socks but prefer wooden needles for everything else. Very thin wooden needles are a bit fragile so I stick with metal for socks.

This is the set of circular needles I have. It comes with a few different lengths of cable and then the tips are screwed to the ends of the cable and tightened with a little key. I also had to buy a set of tips in a smaller size that wasn't in the main set but look how pretty they are - I've started collecting the crochet hooks too.

CrazyBaubles · 04/05/2022 11:46

puss at what point do you have to cover your potatoes? I think I have some very small green growth....

I think continental style knitting might help me because it seems more like crochet - you hook the wool with the needles rather than throwing it around.
Don't envisage me ever being able to use 2 colours at the same time though!

I'm going to try some circular needles - @woolly your pic / link hasn't posted (possibly an mn tech glitch because I couldn't post a picture yesterday) but if you could let me know which ones you went for I may copy you as I was going to ask for recommendations.

Fluffy what's your deadline for the golden anniversary cross stitch?

pussycatlickinglollyices · 04/05/2022 12:00

Crazy We put a generous scoop or 2 of compost over each one as they break through. It's to make sure the tuber/root is dark or the potato will go green and to encourage them to grow taller.
It'll be pretty much a daily task soon, that and watering, then a liquid fertilizer in a can of water once a wk. Although today watering won't be needed - it's still raining!
Eventually...they'll taste amazing.🥔😋

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 04/05/2022 16:59

Fluffy, how strange I was talking about having a second set of retractable arms at the weekend #SisterLink

NoWordForFluffy · 04/05/2022 19:07

Weird linking of minds there, Why! 🤣🤣

Crazy, I've until late-September. Or mid, to allow for posting time. The Historical Sampler ones usually don't take too long (famous last words!).

My beans are starting to poke through the compost now, which is good news. I do love homegrown beans!

234 morning. Ds came into my room at 6:15 as dd woke him up getting ready and he's fallen back to sleep. Most unlike him.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/05/2022 08:22

Morning!

I worked from 7, and am now going to school for a meeting with the SENCo to discuss post-diagnosis support for DS.

DH and I are giving blood later. I suppose it's a date of sorts! 🤣🤣
