Well our water butt is now empty and no rain forecast for two weeks. Might put a bowl in the shower to capture the grey water.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 27/04/2022 17:03

Are we taking bets on who gets rain first? It won't be me, I might need to tether a camel to the dust that used to be a lawn soon.🐪

NoWordForFluffy · 27/04/2022 17:21

Doubt it'll be me. I need to go to water the allotment later really.

WreckTangled · 27/04/2022 17:36

Were due rain Sunday Tuesday and Wednesday apparently...

pussycatlickinglollyices · 27/04/2022 18:10

Wreck can you waft it north??

NoWordForFluffy · 27/04/2022 18:29

Oops, just spent more points on more wine, as it's buy 6, get 25% off, at Sainsbury's from today until Sunday. That stocks us up nicely for Christmas, before the prices shoot up (I'm anticipating price increases).

We apparently have 50% chance of rain first thing on Sunday. I'll believe it when it happens!

CrazyBaubles · 27/04/2022 20:02

Just checked our forecast and closest we've got is a 20% chance of rain on Sunday. My poor poor plants.
I've just been out to throw water on them and noticed my strawberry plants have quite a few buds on each

I read somewhere that if you paint stones red and put them in the pot, birds will try them and learn to leave the fruit alone. Any idea if that's true as I'd like to actually eat some this year!

Morning!

I couldn't get to sleep last night, so I'm knackered this morning. It's not good.

I've not heard that strawberry thing, Crazy. IME, birds are far more clever than that, however!

Dds passport is being delivered today. I only sent it off last Tuesday.

I'm wfh to save fuel and do washing I think this month will fly by with another bank holiday and then ds has his residential just before half term which is only four weeks away now.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/04/2022 08:41

Yes, I reckon so too.

I have the Jubilee week off, so can't wait for that!

Am I missing out by not cross stitching a Nutcracker? I've got FOMO now.

I'm currently working on a WH blanket and knitting some hats in between for light relief. I've got wool for two pairs of Christmas socks that I might start soon and I want to do my bits and bobs for the WH Christmas sale sooner rather than later as I hate rushing.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/04/2022 20:56

No rain here in the 10 Day Forecast , I've been keeping a check on all my new baby plants and watering them either early am or late pm.

I did have a brief moment of I have reached the bottom of BOTH washing baskets then found a shirt DS wore today in his laundry hamper .
Ahh the Dream was nice while it lasted Xmas Grin

Bank Holiday Weekend beckons .........

HaHa Xmas Grin
I'm blissfully ignorant . I cannot sew /crochet/knit/cross-stitch
I'm guessing a Nutracker is the tall soldier type toy as opposed to a pair of plier type implements to crack actual nuts with......

Skips off into sunset , whistling

Morning!

We succumbed to a fair amount of heating yesterday. It was 14.7° in the front room! 😱🥶 Bloody weather.

Maybe we should all craft a Nutcracker in some way?! 🤔 (Definitely not things you crack nuts with, 70!)

This is the one I'm doing (hopefully photo attached!). I'm doing it on light beige Aida, not green, however.

I love that!

Our heating was on when I woke up this morning. I worked yesterday with my dressing gown on over my clothes. Today I'm going to the office where we can have the heating on until it's so hot we have to open the window Grin

Morning!

It's bright and sunny here today. Hopefully it's going to be warmer from now on.

We've put two lots of food out for our starlings already this morning! They have very noisy chicks to feed!

I'm just heading into town to buy bird food and a few freezer bits, as the pay day top up.

Thank god for the long weekend. Extra day off. Whoop, whoop!

CrazyBaubles · 30/04/2022 11:04

Morning. Sunny here today too so I've just emptied the washing basket (although I'm changing bedding later so it won't be empty for long).

Apparently I'm now getting all the rain tomorrow - met office forecast now has 80% chance of rain all day so that'll be a housework day (plus cinema with nephew).

I've put out some bird food (thanks for the reminder fluffy). I've repositioned the bird table to the back of the garden and there are definitely some baby birds in the tree in the garden behind ours. I haven't seen them but the food is disappearing quickly I can hear them.

Apart from housework and food shopping I don't think we're doing much today.

WreckTangled · 30/04/2022 11:11

Sunny here too. I should put another load of washing on. We haven't got any plans, dh is working today and Monday. Dd is being miserable.

NoWordForFluffy · 30/04/2022 11:25

DS is being narky, Wreck. Miserable children are endemic!

NoWordForFluffy · 30/04/2022 12:23

Oh, we apparently have rain from 4 today, through the night and then most of tomorrow. Looks like I'll be getting wet at the allotment tomorrow and Mr Robin will harass me for worms while I'm digging!

I've just mown the lawn and put down more lawn seed to sort the massive dead patch in the middle. The last lot didn't take, but it was old, so maybe unsurprisingly. I bought this box today, so here's hoping!

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 30/04/2022 19:05

It's raining! Not VERY hard yet (due overnight), but enough to need a brolly. ☔️

I've made a rod for my own back. I bought mealworms for the birds. They LOVE the bloody things! If they don't start knocking on the window for more, I'll be amazed! 🤣🤣

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 30/04/2022 19:24

I don't think we're getting rain now. I got two loads of washing dried today and had a nap Grin

Ds has regressed and is playing with all of his toy cars Confused obviously I think it's lovely but also one more thing to add to my list of things he does that isn't 'typical'.

We're trying to think of something to do tomorrow but we're not having much luck!

NoWordForFluffy · 30/04/2022 22:16

We apparently have proper rain now. It's needed, so it can keep going!

Tomorrow will be another lazy day (for the kids). I'm allotmenting plus baking plus cleaning!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 01/05/2022 07:33

238 happy May! Looks like it's going to rain this afternoon which is rubbish. Still undecided on what to do and dh wants to stay in bed until 8 so can't discuss it until then. Although the cat is currently scratching and meowing outside our bedroom door which will be annoying dh...

NoWordForFluffy · 01/05/2022 08:12

Morning!

I've only just woken up. DS came in at 8, as that's his getting up time at the weekend. I'm normally awake by then, so it was a surprise!

We've had steady rain overnight and more due today. My veg plants will be happy!
