How long do you keep decorations up?

I'm a bit sad to see so many are taking their decorations down before 12th night, but it has made me wonder...
Are the people who decorate early the same people who get sick of the tree and take it down early?

So, how long are your tree and decorations up ? Ours went up on 17th (a week later than usual as we had COvID) and will be up until the 6th Jan, so they will have been up for 20 days.
How about your house?

We put our tree etc up on Dec 4th & took it all down yesterday. Used to always wait until 12th night but got a bit fed up with it.

Pascha · 02/01/2022 18:55

Ours went up the first weekend of December and came down 2 days ago, NYE is our limit. We are not Christian so have no affiliation with any 12 night traditions. Also its ds2s birthday this week and we like to keep the celebrations separate.

Northernsoullover · 02/01/2022 18:56

New Years day it all comes down.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/01/2022 18:58

Up on 28 Nov and down today.

I go back to work on 4 Nov and have zero time on Twelfth Night to take two trees / decs down. So it always comes down before I'm back at work. It might last until Twelfth Night when the dates fall better and that's on the weekend.

Greydogs123 · 02/01/2022 18:58

Second weekend in December and coming down tomorrow. I’ve never waited until twelfth night because I like to have it all done and dusted before school starts again.

hiredandsqueak · 02/01/2022 19:00

Ours went up on 18th December and down on 28th which is long enough for me. I wouldn't bother at all tbh but put it up for the dc and dgs.

HeyMicky · 02/01/2022 19:01

Tree is still up as we had guests, but coming down tomorrow. Everything else came down last Thursday before the cleaner came

OldTinHat · 02/01/2022 19:02

Up on 23rd Dec and down on 28th Dec 🤗

TheDuchessOfMN · 02/01/2022 19:02

Ours went up the first weekend in December. I took them down yesterday

ecceromani · 02/01/2022 19:02

Ours went up on 8th Dec and coming down tomorrow. That's fairly standard for us most years

havemybreakfastthen · 02/01/2022 19:03

I love putting them up at the beginning of December and equally love to remove
them New Years Day. I've had enough of them by then.

user1471443411 · 02/01/2022 19:06

Ours always go up fairly late and stay up til at least early Jan. This year, I'm going to copy something I saw on here and keep them up til Candlemas Eve (1st Feb I think),

LoannaJumley · 02/01/2022 19:07

We took ours down today, we're busy all day tomorrow and then back to work so it was the only feasible day to do it without spending an evening after work doing it.

GiltEdges · 02/01/2022 19:11

Ours went up on the 1st December and came down on the 31st. I like to start the new year with a clean and tidy house free of Christmas tat decorations Smile

MadisonAvenue · 02/01/2022 19:12

Ours went up on the 11th and I took them down on the 30th.
They were a week later than usual in going up this year.

I usually taken them down in the week between Christmas and New Year, I just want to get the house back to normal. I’ve left the wreath on the door and the potted tree with lights on outside our front door though.

stargirl1701 · 02/01/2022 19:14

Up on Christmas Eve, down Twelfth Night.

But for DH, I would go for Candlemas!

twolittleboysonetiredmum · 02/01/2022 19:27

Start of December and down today. Normally make it to epiphany but timing is crap with return to work and other commitments so had to be today. I feel a bit bad but actually it’s also nice having all the crap away before we go back to school!!

DoubleShotEspresso · 02/01/2022 19:55

Normally New Year's Day but this year it'll be tomorrow as we have had 3 x bereavements in the family and I've just tried to keep everything rolling for our little one a bit longer

PurBal · 02/01/2022 19:57

Ideally twelfth night. Crib candlemas. But forgot to put the crib out this year - doh.

Sebastianthecoo · 02/01/2022 19:59

Ours went up 19th November when the DC had Covid and I was trying to brighten up our isolation. No planned date to take them down yet, probably once they are back at school. I’m going to keep some fairy lights though, they feel like a comfort in the darkness right now.

JurgensCakeBabyJesus · 02/01/2022 19:59

Ours went up on December 4/5th, DSs birthday is end of November so won't do it until after then and it depends when the weekends fall year on year target than a specific date. They will be coming down tomorrow so around a month. I'd like them to be up until twelfth night but we're back at work from Tuesday and have plans next weekend. I am going to leave my wreath up though, made it with some friends and it's still looking very healthy so wouldn't want to bin it yet.

Echoesandsilence · 02/01/2022 20:05

Ours went up in the last week of November.
We'll take it down this weekend.
DC are still on xmas holidays so I leave it up to let them feel festive for the last of their holodays.

iglpgl · 02/01/2022 20:10

Went up on the 23rd December and will be coming down on the 4th. Would wait until Twelfth Night, if it were not for the fact that my local council is collecting trees from the kerbside for recycling on the 5th, and we need to have it out ready by 6am!

Megan2018 · 02/01/2022 20:14

Roughly a month, 6 Dec to 6 Jan.
This year we were 2 days early buying tree due to circumstances though. I do get a bit irritated when back at work though and tree still up, so the last 2 days this week will give me the itch! When I’m off work until 6th it’s fine.

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 02/01/2022 20:16

Can't take them down until next weekend as we are away.
