The actual issues and arguments on Christmas and Boxing Day were where things that have been building up for a while but a bit of space then some conversations could have put it to bed but now the drama is being drawn out - and by people who weren't really involved (for an example, there was a fall out with MIL which has now been patched up but her dickhead husband still isn't happy and keeps trying to stir it back up 🙄

For me, the issues in my family are more upsetting but after some horrible conversations this morning I'm moving passed it.
I think my family are a bit upset that my way of dealing with it is to say I'll be away this Christmas but that's just tough.

Anyway, I've just ordered some of the Bothy threads Christmas cards (2 wrendale ones, 2 others), but I'm justifying it by the fact I sorted out my box of Christmas cards and realised I have enough for the next year or 2 already so I don't have to buy any).

So that's it - no more cross stitch kits for me this year

Morning!

Back to work today! At least I'm now on top of things, however...I left something like 26 tasks for today on Friday. I've a few emails to catch up with, but I won't have to kill myself this week!

Crazy, if people are kicking off at / about Christmas, then it makes sense to remove yourself from the firing line at Christmas. They can deal with it themselves!

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 04/01/2022 07:27

Morning

DH goes back to work today. I am going to take DS swimming.

I didnt buy the cards in the end. I really mustn't buy anymore cross stitch until I have made serious in roads into my stash!

NoWordForFluffy · 04/01/2022 07:30

I didn't buy them either, Hopeful! 😇

I have loads in my stash. A stupid amount. Plus a load of charts I want to do. And I've not done much recently, so I'm not even making a dent in what I have! 🙈

CrazyBaubles · 04/01/2022 07:40

Morning! I'm back to work today - I'm already dreading my inbox but my team is off until tomorrow so today will be spent working out what needs doing, organising myself and building myself an excel planner and to do list for 2022.
DH is also back to work. He set his alarm for 6am but somehow managed to switch it off in the night so didn't wake up until mine went off at 7:10. We're off to a great start here 😂

I bought the cross stitch Christmas cards because I want to send some this year but apart from that I need to just do the ones I have. I haven't actually done any crafting at all for 2 months as I've been busy and stressed but will get back in to it this week.

WreckTangled · 04/01/2022 09:14

Morning. My day six lft is positive. I'm not going to bother doing any more I'll just do the full ten days. Need to book a click and collect that dh can go and get Friday after work.

Back at work today, will see how long I can stay at the computer screen.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 04/01/2022 09:39

Morning folks. My daughter is moving today bless her. I can't help as I am working later but if she needs things taking over I am off for the next three days. The guinea pigs have already moved #priorities.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/01/2022 09:41

Her piggy photo on Facebook was very cute, Why!

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 04/01/2022 09:55

It was a very cute photo Fluffy. I do love the piggies they are great animals.

TheWoollybacksWife · 04/01/2022 20:30

I'm a bit cross. My Barnardo's order arrived today and only had one of each of the rolls of wrapping paper I ordered. I've sent an email but I feel a bit shabby complaining to a charity 😥

NoWordForFluffy · 04/01/2022 20:41

Oh no. How many of each did you order?

I had to send some 'new' Lego back to Scope last year, as it looked like the box bad been trampled by Santa's reindeer. They tried to make me feel bad, but maybe they should've not listed as 'new' something which looked battered to buggery. 🤷‍♀️

TheWoollybacksWife · 04/01/2022 20:50

Only 2 of each. The sets of gift bags are complete and I'm sure that by Christmas they'll recover from being rolled up to fit in the box.

Morning!

The kids are back to school today...I foresee a nightmare getting the kids ready, frankly!

The weather is very cold indeed...definitely turned again. It's been mostly cold up here, I think, since November. 🥶🥶

WreckTangled · 05/01/2022 07:34

Ds is back to school today. Dd doesn't go back until tomorrow but she's still testing positive so will be off until Monday. Although I could test her today and tomorrow. I should do that. I'm getting so confused with what day it is.

It's cold here this morning; there's a frost. It's meant to be -5 tomorrow morning 🥶

CrazyBaubles · 05/01/2022 09:24

why I hope your dd's move went well.

Woolly very annoying about your order but surely they'll either send you what's missing or refund you?

Good luck getting your dc into school today. If they're anything like DH and me, it'll be a shock to their system!

It's 🥶 here today. Apparently it's going to get up to 6° but feel like 3°, same as yesterday. I walked the dog and couldn't feel my face after a few minutes.

I picked up an old, half done cross stitch yesterday and did some work on it (the Riverdrift House Croeso one). I don't like it but I'm being good and trying to use up my stash and finish things.

We've also tentatively booked a holiday for Feb half term (Scotland). I can't bloody wait!

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 05/01/2022 13:20

Crazy I suspect you and your DH (and DDog) will emigrate to Scotland one day, to a nice little remote cottage with a paddock full of woolly coos. Grin

DH has been out to the pharmacy for his meds, still no LFTs. He has the dentist tomorrow and was going to do one beforehand.

CrazyBaubles · 05/01/2022 15:02

puss how did you know? Scotland is our plan for retirement!

DHs school have LFTs as he's been provided with 2 boxes along with instructions to test 3 times per week starting today (kids start back tomorrow).
He's not very happy with the increased testing and apparently there were some 'heated discussions' in a meeting today about teachers having to wear masks...

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 05/01/2022 15:59
Grin Crazy my DH would love to live in Scotland too. I prefer Wales as I can't stand bagpipes Didn't your DH have Covid a little while back? You're not supposed to test within 90 days as it may still show positive with a LFT, so he might have a little while before he needs to.
pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 05/01/2022 16:05

Crazy I thought my NDN said the Welsh and English were different we were chatting yesterday so I googled and the Welsh guidance says he has to wear a mask.

CrazyBaubles · 05/01/2022 16:56

puss I'm not a fan of bagpipes either but I don't think I'd hear them often in (dream) secluded cottage near a Loch... Grin

DH had Covid in October half term so he has around 2 or 3 more weeks before his 90 days are up. He hates doing the tests (his gagging and retching is ridiculous) 🙄

There are a lot of teachers (including DH) who feel wearing a mask is really unsettling for the kids. His school has kids from age 3-11 and some of the younger ones were getting upset when they wore them before plus he said it's hard to convey when he's being funny etc with his face covered.

I get it - I find masks really uncomfortable and would hate to have to wear one all day.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/01/2022 17:40

I'm not a fan of bagpipes either! Bit of a racket at times.

I love Scotland, but there's a law going through at the moment which means I will never move there, as I fundamentally disagree with it and where it takes the country, legally. It's a shame, as I'd have moved there if it became independent, otherwise.

Our school's heating failed today. They have to go dressed a bit warmer tomorrow! 🥶🥶

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 05/01/2022 19:11

Crazy tell him he's not alone, I start to gag when opening the bloody box. I agree that little ones should not be subject to a teacher in a mask, can't they wear a clear visor?

WreckTangled · 05/01/2022 19:24

Visors don't stop the spread of the virus. Seems to me they just want the teachers to stay well so they don't have to deal with sickness. I don't think it's fair on the primary aged children really but understand why they're doing it. Dh has been wearing a mask at work all day this week as they've been indoors and dd will have to wear one all day at school.

Fluffy ds wears thermals even with the heating working (it's a comfort thing) Grin poor kids they'll be freezing with no heating!

CrazyBaubles · 05/01/2022 19:42

Fluffy is it to do with self ID? If so I'm hoping by the time I can retire things will be better 🤞🏼

The school should be looking at some sort of temporary measure for the heating - it's bloody freezing at the moment (literally here - the cars are frozen over).

puss visors aren't allowed as they aren't really effective, which is a shame as it's the fact they can't see his facial expressions that's the issue.
He has some children with SEN in his class and they struggled a lot last time I think.
Most of the teachers also don't get the logic as the masks should stop them giving Covid to the kids who will just pick it up elsewhere but doesn't protect the teachers at all so it seems a bit pointless.
I keep my opinions to myself though!

I'm just having a late tea as we made a last minute decision to go and visit ILs. I'm starving!
