It's a difficult one.
I have a son who has additional needs in reception.
Face masks haven't helped us at all. His last Salt report talks about how little progress has been made because of the masking wearing he's not seeing the mouth movements he is needing to see. He also is very much set in the school is school, therapy is therapy and home is home. So we do struggle to use the techniques at home.

But I also see the need for them as he is vulnerable. I think it's a situation where your damed if you do, damed If you don't.

Yes, Crazy, but it's also about what a hate crime is in law as well. It's ridiculously draconian.

They have heaters arriving tomorrow, but if they can't get it warm enough they'll have to close. The head is desperately trying to stay open, however.

Morning!

Shite sleep last night means I'm knackered today. I need to do better on the sleep front!

We will have to get the kids' base layers out for school. Thankfully they're merino, so breathable and not suffocating if it warms up. They may have to close, I suppose. It's 'feels like' -3° most of today.

We finally got the mouse! Ds is very sad despite being petrified when he thought it was going to run out at him.

Apparently the engineers are still investigating the problem, Puss, so I doubt it will be this week, sadly. DH is just digging out the base layers upstairs!

Morning. Softplay followed by swimming lesson today.

Rang the reversal clinic yesterday to request the 14th April so hoping to get confirmation from them today.

All the decorations came down yesterday and I gave downstairs a good clean. All ready for spring now :) My seeds have been dispatched so looking forward to them arriving.

I hope they've got the heating working Fluffy - I have images in my head of a class full of shivering children bundled up in coats, scarves and gloves 🥶

Crap sleep here too and I've had the same headache for 2 days. Plus DH seems to have some sort of virus / bug as he was so hot last night he ended up sitting in the (freezing) conservatory in shorts and t shirt to cool down and didn't want tea. Marvellous.
We're both working today and hoping it's all minor and we'll be back to normal later / tomorrow 🤞🏼

Crazy my Covid symptoms started (and are continuing) with a headache. (Sorry, I know everything is Covid these days!).

It's so sunny here today. I'll enjoy looking at it out the window.

I am a bit worried about that Wreck so I'll be doing an LFT later, although I am now starting with an upset stomach too 🤢
DH can't because it hasn't been 90 days since he had it yet - can you get it again so quickly? I really bloody hope not, he was a PITA last time as he didn't cope with isolation well (although if I have it too he won't have to stay in a bedroom the whole time I suppose).

Still hoping it's something short lived and random though because we've got a table booked at a really nice restaurant with some friends tomorrow!

Anecdotally, and from what I've read, I think you can get infected with omicron if you had delta previously. Ds had a bit of an upset stomach with it but I didn't. I know lots of people are saying LFT's are unreliable but all of us showed decent positives on them so I'd just keep doing those.

Crazy does he normally run a bit hot? I do DH is always cold and if I've got a but I do the same, sit or sleep in a freezing cold room.

I remember the heating at our middle school being broken a lot in winter (v early 80s) there was snow and ice everywhere and we got to wear our coats in lessons. There was no chance of closing...the High School wasn't much better but was closer so I sneaked home at lunchtimes to warm up

Crazy, you DO test again within 90 days if you have symptoms. You don't do asymptomatic tests, I think.

Oh, and my friend's daughter tested positive at the end of Sept and was just outside the 90 days when she tested positive again! Omicron gets you regardless!

This is what I understand to be true too. Although dds school have been told that they still have to do lft even if positive in previous 90 days 🤷🏻‍♀️

We're both feeling better - my headache is gone and stomach is settling plus DH said while he's still got, his appetite came back hard around 12 and he ate a big lunch. Either way we're both going to do LFTs when he gets home with some.

It is bloody freezing here. I've switched the heating on and did hot water bottles (the long one for me and a little one for Ddog ) plus I'm wearing double lined fleece Christmas socks and have a woolly wrap around my shoulders. Much better!

Negative tests here and both feeling loads better 🥳

Morning!

It's still very cold indeed. Apparently the school may have to close next week if they can't get the heating fixed. Obviously the longer it's without proper heating, the colder it gets. They got to 16° yesterday, but that's the limit really. We shall see what today brings, but it sounds like a pretty bad fault.

Crazy, I'm glad you're both better and both tested negative! A relief on both counts.

Fluffy that's cold. 🥶🥶 Your poor DC although it's good that they have got decent base layers. I can't even persuade DS to put a t-shirt under his uniform or wear his coat. Magical cold repelling teenagers 🤷🏻‍♀️

Busy day filling up the freezer yesterday so I'm going to catch up on a film and do some crochet today.

Dh and I should be completely debt free by the end of June. Quite looking forward to that. Although I'm sure something will come along to scupper our plans

Woolly my nephew is like that with the weather. He actually said when I saw him last (and it was raining) "what do I need a coat for? I'll put on a hat to stay dry" 🙄

A T-shirt puss? I walked the dog earlier wearing a T-shirt, jeans, jumper, raincoat, thick socks, fingerless gloves and a hat!

DH has nearly finished the tub of Quality St...there's a green triangle left with my name on it and if he eats that I'll need volunteers to redo my patio.

The weather has got a lot colder now, we've had hail and rain. Sounds awful out there. I'll leave opening the back door going to the wheelie bin until morning.
