DH just asked for a refund. There's easily £1000 worth of work to be done immediately and then another £500 in the next few months. I don't think the guy even would have offered to do that.

Morning!

I got £2k back from our car dealer because it had so much doing to it in the first 4 months after buying it. We had to bloody rebuild it.

That was after the event though, and we couldn't take it back as it was dead, and he was 80 miles away! So we fixed it then threatened to sue him. 😁

I've done a Puss! 🤣🤣

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 04/03/2022 07:00

😹😹🤦‍♀️

WreckTangled · 04/03/2022 07:24

We only paid £2k for it. I can't imagine they would want to pay out for it. So frustrating and we will only get about half the tax back because we bought end of feb we will have to pay feb and March then they don't refund the 10% surcharge for paying six monthly and because the V5 hadn't been transferred yet I've got to fill in and send loads of forms to the DVLA to even get a refund which will then take six weeks to process 🤯 oh and the insurance is £80 if we cancel within 14 days. Hoping dh will manage to get a new van then we can just transfer it and pay the admin fee of £35. Feeling really stressed and fed up.

CrazyBaubles · 04/03/2022 09:17

That's really crap and stressful Wreck. Did they organise the refund straight away at least?

Not much going on here really apart from work and an annoying tickly cough 😷
Hoping to round off my work week by completing some things and at least feeling like my to do list isn't going to crush me on Monday morning 😳

WreckTangled · 04/03/2022 14:54

Dh paid on his car so guess we will have to wait. Wish he had used his credit card now.

WreckTangled · 04/03/2022 15:53

Saw diesel for £1.72 today Shock

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 04/03/2022 18:56

petrol still under 1.50, diesel around 4p more around here.

WreckTangled · 04/03/2022 18:58

More positive news is that our council tax is only going up by 2.99%. Petrol is £1.54 here I think. I got it a bit cheaper in the city today.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/03/2022 19:04

We still don't have our council tax bill for next year yet. I know it'll be the full whack though, it always is! So we'll have 2.99% + 3% on social care on top.

Diesel was 154.9 at Tesco when I went past. Imagine what motorway prices must be like...you'd literally put the minimum in and head off the motorway to hunt for cheaper elsewhere!

I still got nowhere today, Crazy. Story of my life! 🤣

WreckTangled · 04/03/2022 19:15

We haven't had ours yet either but I get the county council email updates at work (for some reason?!) and it was on there.

I'll see what the fuel is at Cobham services tomorrow when we go for McDonald's to take the van back.

I've got a sore throat which is annoying.

CrazyBaubles · 04/03/2022 19:20

£1.72 Wreck? 😳
It's around £1.45 for petrol and £1.50 for diesel I think.

Still no update on the council tax increase here either.

Fluffy I actually left work feeling ok today - first time in a while.
I competed around 3/4s of the things I wanted to do which is good but I also managed to stop a load of work being passed to me & my team (it was a bit of a, um, professional disagreement and I felt a bit odd after it but so happy I argued about it)!

Quiet evening here. I haven't started a new craft project after finishing my aunties blanket so I'm considering a cross stitch.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/03/2022 19:24

Oh, I just found an article on the council website saying it's only going up 2.99% as well. So 88p per week. Could be worse. Won't believe it til I see the actual bill though.

CrazyBaubles · 04/03/2022 19:35

I just checked our council website and got a bit of a surprise - they aren't increasing the council tax as much as expected due to receiving more funding than expected. It's going up by 1.95% which is around 50p per week.
I still don't understand how they justify forever increasing it but it could definitely be worse!

WreckTangled · 04/03/2022 19:48

Ours is up £1 a week so not as bad as I thought

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/03/2022 20:52

I bought petrol in Costco today (didn't look at the price Blush ) but I needed to fill up . It was really busy , Ive never seen such a queue there .

DH and DS gave blood , DS was being a whingey little git saying he was "too busy" but I did the withering look that only Mothers can replicate and said good job the person who donated the blood that I needed wasn;t busy or I might not be here and he can sacrifice an hour out of his ver' ver' busy day to do something decent for humanity Hmm
He did go off and give his arm up , hopefully thinking a bit .

NoWordForFluffy · 05/03/2022 07:47

Morning!

I'm all cosy in bed and we have 19 minutes before DS will appear (assuming he's awake, if he is, then 8am is the time he will come out of his room!).

We are having haircuts today. Then the kids are off to the grandparents and we're going out to the village for a few beers. Exciting! 🤣 🍻

I ordered this Lego to be delivered to the Sainsbury's in the village today. Not sure who will give it to him for his birthday, hopefully someone will buy it off me as I have a house of Minecraft Lego for him. 🤣

WreckTangled · 05/03/2022 10:38

£1.83 for diesel at the services. Couldn't see the petrol but it's up to £1.61 at home. The guy refunded the van via bank transfer so is already back in our account which is good. He was apologetic.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/03/2022 11:15

Just went past our local Texaco...167.9! 😱😱

WreckTangled · 05/03/2022 11:56

It's gone crazy!

NoWordForFluffy · 05/03/2022 12:03

Puss, are these the pellets you get?

Wilko had really low stocks of bird food, so I went to get the pellets from B&M. We don't have the boxes in our store though. These will do, however!

We're just back from Sainsburys. Petrol 149, diesel 155.

DH wandered off and came back with more solar lights for the garden - the ones I wanted when I accidentally ordered tiny ones from Amazon last year - so we got those using a £10 off offer.

It's dry with lovely blue sky here so I'm going to tidy up in the garden, fix my broken pot, clean the conservatory - once I scoot out the first bumble bee of the year - then spend a bit of time planning what I'm going to attempt to grow in my garden this year.

TheWoollybacksWife · 05/03/2022 13:39

The pied wagtails in our garden have started tapping on the patio windows if DH is a bit slow putting out the mealworms.

I filled up (unleaded) on Thursday at Asda for £144.9. I'm beginning to think I got a bargain.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 05/03/2022 16:50

Woolly it was 147.00 the day before the 144.00 pricing, so not sure why we were lucky enough to have a price drop. I need to fill up when I am off tomorrow as I am running very low.
