What a rubbish journey, Woolly. I'm amazed she wasn't delayed for longer.

I spent last night watching planes failing to land on Flightradar24! One poor plane went round and round Southampton with numerous attempts to land before diverting to Gatwick! 😱🙈

Geneva to MCR also went to Gatwick!

We're 'only' amber tomorrow too. Wouldn't fancy the red zone!

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 17/02/2022 15:55

fluffy 🤫 me too! I was quite relieved the evening A380 got into MCR ok.

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 17/02/2022 17:13

The plane with Man City on board had to divert from Manchester to Liverpool 😂😂

NoWordForFluffy · 17/02/2022 17:20

Oh dear! 🤣🤣

I saw the evening A380 take off for Dubai last night. Tomorrow day time may have quite empty skies!

Is your DH's school closed, Crazy?

CrazyBaubles · 17/02/2022 18:19

Yep Fluffy, he called me while I was out walking the dog to tell me he'll be wfh tomorrow.
Neither of us is happy tbh. Work for me is manic and he hates wfh so I imagine he's going to distract me and I'm going to be annoyed.

Hoping that the worst weather will be gone for our travels on Sat (driving to Gretna) 🤞🏼

Just about to start working on dsis fancy dress outfit. I've cut a dress to make it the right shape (while she was here) and now I'm sewing on embellishments then making some cuffs and bits to attach to sandals. Should be relatively straight forward she said nervously as it means creating button holes for the cuffs

WreckTangled · 17/02/2022 19:18

Dd has to do home learning tomorrow. Buses are cancelling or at least swapping to double deckers and as 850 pupils are bussed in they've decided the lower years should stay home.

CrazyBaubles · 17/02/2022 23:21

The warning here was upgraded to red this afternoon so all local schools are closed, bin collections cancelled, local parks and their car parks will be closed, trains and buses cancelled, council buildings will be closed and the local fb groups are full of warnings to ‘be prepared.’

DH and I went out and moved some garden stuff to make sure it doesn’t get damaged. Now it’s a case of hunkering down and hoping for the best.

WreckTangled · 18/02/2022 05:31

311 we're in red now too

NoWordForFluffy · 18/02/2022 08:51

Morning. Still amber here, thankfully. Max wind forecast of 68mph so far.

It's very much a stay indoors kind of day, isn't it?

nerosnewfiddle · 18/02/2022 09:43

How's everyone doing?

We've quite a bit of snow but wind is grand.

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 18/02/2022 09:56

trying to do stuff and watch BigJetTV from heathrow and MN at the same time.
I need extra eyes and hands.

WreckTangled · 18/02/2022 10:19

This thread has disappeared from the threads I'm on Confused we're ok here. Ds watching tv and dd doing school work. Dh at work.

WreckTangled · 18/02/2022 11:53

Power out

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/02/2022 14:02

Pretty blowy here , DS went into work this morning but got sent home early
DH is WFH
DD isn't at University on a Friday and they closed it today anyway
I have a NWD on a Friday

Watching things move about in the garden, already a fence panel from NDN fence , plant pots over .
The trees are waving about but hopefully flexible enough to weather it!

NoWordForFluffy · 18/02/2022 14:04

Lots of rubbish flying round outside. The wind is definitely increasing. No actual bins...yet!

Is your power back, Wreck?

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 18/02/2022 14:47

I have just got home from work and it is very blustery. Lots of little bits of tree crashing about but so far nothing huge. Wind speed is increasing mind you.

WreckTangled · 18/02/2022 15:52

Nope. They're saying everyone should be back on by 11pm TOMORROW Sad but hopefully most by 11pm tonight. Ffs.

CrazyBaubles · 18/02/2022 21:30

How are you doing Wreck?

We've had a few trees down locally, the roof of next doors shed has moved (DH has been over to help move it back and anchor it down), lots of branches and stuff blown around but it could have been a lot worse.

I'm all packed ready for the trip tomorrow (including a Christmas card cross stitch and a book).
This week has been bloody manic - I'm so ready for a week off!

WreckTangled · 18/02/2022 22:07

Still no power Sad and it's cold

CrazyBaubles · 18/02/2022 22:19

Do you use electric to heat the house Wreck?
It seems crazy to have you without power for so long. Are your dc ok?

The temp has definitely dropped loads here in the last few hours.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/02/2022 08:44

310

Morning!

We have heavy rain forecast today, which means I shall drive, rather than walk, to town in a bit. Then it's back to 50mph+ winds tomorrow!

Wreck, are you back on yet?

Crazy, it's a good day to drive north, as the wind has dropped briefly! Have a good drive.

We had people going to the allotment at the point the wind was at its strongest to check their plots. Madness, I tell you can't have seen Final Destination!

WreckTangled · 19/02/2022 10:29

We're not on and yes we're all electric. No heating, hot water or mobile signal. It's been 23 hours now. I've driven into town to charge my phone and call the electric company to see when we might get it back on.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/02/2022 11:23

Is the whole village out, Wreck? Are there any community places nearby which have power so you can stay warm?

It's freezing and snowing here. ❄️🥶❄️🥶 Then back to high wind tomorrow. Joy.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/02/2022 17:39

That sounds horrendous Wreck it is so difficult to get warm again once you are frozen ! And you'll need to keep the fridge/freezer shut to conseve the cold there , but I suppose it depends on how long you're without power , the contents might not be salvagable ?

I did venture out this morning ( bank , supermarket ) it was cold , windy
but not raining .
Not long till the next Rudolph Day . On a non Rudolph note , I bought a mug and plate for DD Easter ( rabbit design) a couple of weeks ago , ordered an Easter gift bag and looking at the Easter Eggs but deciding not to buy them yet .
They normally get 1 big egg (the £10 range) and some smaller ones .. The BodyShop usually do something rabbit related ( symbol of the PETA ethics rather than Easter ) soap/nail file/headband type .

But there's Shrove Tuesday and Mothering Sunday before then !

CrazyBaubles · 19/02/2022 19:33

We finally made it at 6:30 (DH arranged a detour so I could see some of Hadrians Wall). It's been a long day so we've had some quick food and now just going to spend the evening relaxing in the hotel room 🥱

It's is bloody freezing up here.

Wreck I hope you have power back by now!
