Do you think he'll be working or enjoying Xmas turkey?
I can't imagine his Xmas will be very relaxing!

Looking funny in a Santa hat

TerraNovaTwo · 25/12/2021 03:40

He'll be laughing at us all at how he has become the most powerful unelected official in government.

He's no more of a hero than any other doctor imo

PanettoneDisappointment · 25/12/2021 03:45

@LapinR0se

I have nothing but respect and admiration for him. He is worth a million of the absolute clowns who are actually running the country. He is dignified, knowledgeable, calm and poised even when faced with total ignorance on a daily basis.
This.

Not that it will matter one but to him but I hope he gets an OBE after this.

BeastOfBODMAS · 25/12/2021 04:36

Sitting in front of a plate of turkey, being handed plate after plate of vegetables, trimmings and sauces.

Declaring “Next Side Please”

How lovely that you think all doctors are heroes.

Special respect for CW though.

He gives off the vibe that all the press attention etc is not something he has courted.

And he gets a lot of hassle on the street from yobs, poor man, just for doing his job.

herecomesthsun · 25/12/2021 05:41

Oh and I understand he normally works on respiratory/ covid wards at least part of the Christmas period.

itsgettingwierd · 25/12/2021 05:49

Whatever he's doing - I'm sure it'll involve some good for someone/people somewhere.

The man is a pure gold angel.

I think he deserves a bit more than a One Boiled Egg!

Sir Chris Witty has a good ring to it.
I hope he's having a good Christmas. He comes across as a really decent guy.

IcedAbstinente · 25/12/2021 07:27

I hope whatever he is doing he enjoys it thoroughly. I am a huge huge fan.

So glad I have found this thread.

I always use to rave about Prof Whitty to DH when we were watching the daily briefings

So decent, honest, clever and professional.

I love him.

123MothergotafleA · 25/12/2021 08:04

I wish Prof.Whitty a very Happy Christmas!
He is the epitome of decency. Look carefully at it, you will not see it among the scoundrels he has the misfortune to share a screen with.(
I'm not referring to the delightful JVT or Sir Patrick.)

@BeastOfBODMAS - that is genius, love it!

Lampzade · 25/12/2021 10:47

I have got a soft spot for Chris Whitty.
He reminds me of Marcus Rashford in that he appears to be honest, thoughtful and kind.
Both men are very different but seem to be thoroughly decent people

herecomesthsun · 25/12/2021 23:37

Apparently he is getting a knighthood for Xmas (that is to say, in the New Year's Honours List)

Lockdownbear · 26/12/2021 00:05

@herecomesthsun, I hope that is true because he really deserves it, anything less would be an insult. Sir Chris! Smile

Next plate please?

CagneyNYPD1 · 26/12/2021 00:35

A friend of mine knows him from her previous job. Right at the very beginning of the pandemic, she described CW as one of the most trustworthy people she had ever met in her 25+ years in the Civil Service. A truly decent person who will try his very best.

I think her words have proven to be correct, time and time again.

Nowayoutonlydown · 26/12/2021 00:46

I hope whatever he's done, he's had a fabulous day.
He's been like a little beacon of light during this pandemic. The only governmental advice given that has seemed to be honest and trustworthy.
I can't imagine the pressure he has had to live with over the past two years, given that it very much seems a continuous fight between the science and what the government will accept.

I really don't envy his role, but very much respect him, and its lovely to see that I'm not alone in the respect for him.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 26/12/2021 04:54

Celebrating his knighthood I should imagine!

(in a characteristically calm and measured way, maybe involving a cheese platter and some Sancerre)
