I'm cooking this year, we're having:
Turkey
Ham
Pigs in blankets
Sausage meat stuffing
Sage and onion stuffing
Yorkshire pudding (a request from DD)
Roast potatoes,
Roast parsnips
Roast carrots
Sprouts (none of us like them but I still do them)
Bread sauce
Cranberry sauce
Gravy
(Apple sauce, mint sauce and horseradish have also been requested)

Ive got peas and broccoli but I might not bother with them.

How about you?

Jooox I'm not cooking it Smile. Our son (in a new relationship but she's away on Christmas Day) is cooking. I've supplied the meat and accompaniments. In 41 years of marriage, I've never cooked a Christmas lunch. My husband will be cooking on Boxing Day

Only doing so many vegetables so I can make bubble and squeak for the next day to serve with gammon, coleslaw etc.

Still on the food topic I suppose… I tried a baked Camembert as part of Christmas eve platter this evening and have to say I wasn’t impressed! They have such a huge following but I found it way too sickly…😌 I am a fan of some strong cheeses too but that wasn’t for me at all.

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 24/12/2021 23:10

We had baked Camembert for supper tonight. Studded with garlic and thyme, walnuts sprinkled on top and a generous drizzle of honey. Had with homemade ciabatta, as well as olives and grapes on the side. Washed down with a Spanish wine. It’s rich, to be sure, but then it is melted cheese...yum.

It changes from year to year but tomorrow we are having:

Rib of beef
Salmon wellington (for pescatarian family member)
Roast potatoes
Roast Brussels sprouts
Red cabbage
Buttered kale
Horseradish sauce and probably ketchup for the DC
Gravy

Dessert is this chocolate torte.

We totally over indulged on chocolate and mince pies this evening so the thought of any food right now is unappealing although I'm sure I'll be ready for smoked salmon and croissants in the morning :)

2 lots of stuffing

Remembered to snap it before I ate the lot.

Christmas Dinner - what's on your plate?!
HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 25/12/2021 20:00

@Blackmagicqueen I’m not keen on Camembert in its unmelted state so I do think that maybe I should try baking other, superior cheeses as they’d probably be far nicer (or, if I had a fondue set I’d have a go at that!).
