We're pescatarian and are having sushi, bao buns, spring rolls, tofu, miso soup, edamame, gyoza...plus apple pie and clotted cream for pudding!
That sounds absolutely delicious😋
bluechameleon · 23/12/2021 17:24

For the meat eaters, turkey, sausagemeat stuffing, pigs in blankets and pigs without blankets for 3yo DS2. For the vegetarians, squash stuffed with quinoa and mushrooms and chestnut and cranberry stuffing balls. Then roast potatoes, mashed potatoes (don't ask!), Yorkshire puddings, roast parsnips and carrots, sprouts with bacon/chestnuts, boiled carrots, peas, braised red cabbage, cranberry sauce, bread sauce and 2 gravies (meat and vegetarian). Pudding is Christmas pudding, mince pies or chocolate cupcakes.

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 23/12/2021 17:31

This year we’re doing three different Christmas dinners and the menu is quite different for each one.

Main roasts will be turkey, Flæskesteg (Traditional Danish pork joint), and duck.

Our Christmas dinner on the day itself will be quite low key:

Turkey from farm shop
Roast potatoes
Two stuffings (sage & onion, and I don’t know which one PIL will be providing)
Roast carrots and parsnips with honey, lemon, thyme and garlic
Sprouts sautéed with pancetta
PIL might bring pigs in blankets
Gravy

Christmas pudding with spiced rum custard for afterwards.

sweetbellyhigh · 23/12/2021 17:35

We have long dispensed with traditional fare plus it's summer here and so it makes sense to choose seasonal foods.

We have a lazy brunch spread of French pastries, smoked salmon, avocados, bagels, raspberries, blueberries and yoghurt, eggs and hash browns which does everyone for most of the day.

Later it's platters of cheeses, stuffed olives and peppers, prosciutto and ham, crudités and dips, strawberries and cherries.

Also amazing chocolate cake and meringues for anyone wanting sweet.
