Your own stocking

If you were doing your own stocking, and had a budget of around £50 all in, what would you put in it?

So far I am thinking M&S chocolates, a scented candle but not sure where from, and a new mascara ...

I’d put £50 in it Hmm

DiamondBright · 12/12/2021 09:34

I'd love someone to do me a stocking, but I never get one and I'm not doing my own.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 12/12/2021 09:35

Lego, couple of books, nice chocolates or wine.

Bellafrenum · 12/12/2021 09:36

So, for context, I am just looking for ideas of actual gifts to go in a stocking. Thanks!

Lindor chocolates, Clarins beauty flash balm, new christmas chic lit book, Wolford opaque tights and a bar of nice Italian soap

Mintyt · 12/12/2021 09:44

I do a stocking for my friend, she does her husband and child and her mum done her, sadly her mum passed away just after Christmas, so I do her stocking, I buy things all year, in sales and charity shops and bill her husband every so often, she says it's her best gift

Charley50 · 12/12/2021 09:44

A good bag-sized (eg. portable, not the size of a bag!) hand cream.

Some nice earrings or pendant.

NOT a nice notepad as everyone gives me those and they're nearly all still empty.

A pen.
Nice booze.

Outlyingtrout · 12/12/2021 09:50

Super helpful first couple of responses 🙄

St Eval candles
A book
Lindt chocolate
Some really nice shower gel (haven't discovered my favourite brand yet)
Space mask
Silk scrunchie
Nail polish

RJnomore1 · 12/12/2021 09:53

I’m always a tiny bit unsure so I’ll ask the question - what size is the stocking? I’ll have some ideas if I know that bit!

HerbErtlinger · 12/12/2021 09:53

Scratch card

LindaEllen · 12/12/2021 09:56

Books, chocolates and maybe some posh hot chocolate :). Done.

FedUpFelicia · 12/12/2021 09:56

Hotel Chocolat chocolate, fun socks, nail polish, mini gins and Clementines.

elQuintoConyo · 12/12/2021 10:01

Fudge.
Socks.
Book.
New tree decoration.
Necklace.
Joke pen (fluffy koala this year).

Innocenta · 12/12/2021 10:05

Really nice chocolate, for sure! For me that means fancy vegan bars, but Hotel Chocolat or Lindt as recommended by PP are great. I also think adorable foil wrapped chocolates (could be Lindt ones or liqueur chocs or marzipan) are great for stockings.

Neal's Yard hand cream, posh lip balm, bath oil if you take baths!

Mini Diptyque candle if you want a big treat? St Eval ones are cheaper but also gorgeous.

Cashmere blend socks! Or fluffy socks if you don't want wool.

A winter colour of nail varnish from a nice brand.

A cute little alcohol miniature.

Scrunchie!

Etsy stuff - washi tape, stickers Xmas Grin

Elodeastar · 12/12/2021 10:17

I wouldn't, I just don't see the logic. Sorry, that's not very helpful! Hope you enjoy whatever you decide to put in it. :)

Legoisthebest · 12/12/2021 10:27

It depends on what you like and what you consider a treat.
I am putting in mine small Lego sets, a couple of paperbacks, some fancy bubble bath from a brand I wouldn't normally buy and some socks. I might put in a new outfit for my Elf in the Shelf.
Some people might say it's daft to do your own stocking but it's become kind of my little tradition that I do one for my husband, my mother in law and me. (Why can't he do my one you ask? Because I LIKE doing it. I like getting presents - even if I buy them myself Grin. My husband likes Christmas food which I have zero interest in so he does that side of Christmas).

WinterOfOurDiscoTent · 12/12/2021 10:57

Interesting miniatures are always fun in stockings (as long as you drink), nice socks, chocolates....

tentative3 · 12/12/2021 11:07

Socks
Chocolates
Fancy candied fruit
Hot chocolate
Orange smarties
Lip balm
Nice soap
A silk scrunchie
Seeds
A Christmas decoration
Gin miniature
Magic flannel
Mascara
Hair stuff
A magazine
Coffee shop voucher

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 12/12/2021 11:12

A lipstick with a coordinating nail varnish

A book

A gift card for a (nice) coffee shop/tea rooms

A small box of especially nice chocolates

A pair of earrings

A pair of leather gloves

A cashmere hat (I’d have to hunt around to get one within the budget)

Good cosy socks

Vintage brooch

Legoisthebest · 12/12/2021 11:14

Oh I forgot - you have to have either a chocolate orange or chocolate coins !!

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 12/12/2021 11:26

I’d personally rather have a clementine or satsuma, now that Terrys chocolate orange is apparently vile and waxy. Some chocolate coins would be cute as long as you could find some made with good chocolate.

AdaColeman · 12/12/2021 11:27
