If you were doing your own stocking, and had a budget of around £50 all in, what would you put in it?

I also do my own. So far - cult board game; brass hair pin that works on the ‘twist and stab’ principle; nicely made book that’s better to read in hardback than paperback; and some measuring spoons for tiny quantities. I’ve got £5-10 to go to spend £50 I’d imagine. I’d love some F&M Rose Petal jam, but not for this year I fear.

In mine, I've got some new PJs (Primark, £12), some Hotel Chocolat peppermint penguins (£4), a dressing gown from White Stuff (£55 but got it for £16 by using a gift voucher from my birthday plus blue light discount).

I think I will add some black opaque tights (which I need anyway) and maybe will re-wrap my Sophie Kinsella Shopaholic at Christmas book to go in again, as that's a great holiday read!

Maybe some Tisserand bath oil too.

sadpapercourtesan · 13/12/2021 20:38

posh post-it notes
bath bomb, maybe coconut or something musky
crimson velvet hair ruffle
supersoft socks with bright colours/silly design

I do stockings for my whole family (DH, and our 2 young children). I grew up with the whole family getting stockings. It was the first thing we unwrapped Christmas morning as we all gathered around on the floor and they're still one of my favourite things about Christmas.

My husband never did stockings with his family. So in order to carry on the tradition I have to do them. He doesn't really like them and thinks they're filled with pointless things, but I love unnecessary trinkets. He doesn't really ever get anything for mine unless I specifically tell him to. So I usually end up doing my own along with everyone else's. Things I've put in mine over the years (or DH's that would like) are:

Nice tube of hand cream
Earrings
Chocolates
Soap
Nice pens / stationary
Fancy nuts / sweets
Makeup
Dry shampoo
Small pair of kitchen tongs
Nice spatula
Candles
Socks
Gloves
Abs the obligatory tangerine in the toe

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 13/12/2021 20:59

Oh! Forgot to say mini bottles of wine / prosecco and scratch cards

Flowersandhearts · 13/12/2021 22:30

A pretty notebook and pen, bath salts, small 'Prestat jewel' chocolate box, lipstick, earrings, fluffy socks, hot chocolate and a Disaronno miniature for amaretto hot chocolate. That's probably more than £50 worth though!

@Bellafrenum, socks Spode napkin rings from a charity shop as at Christmas she uses the Spode plates, 2 little Spode mugs (CS) Reed defuser, pumpkin syrup for coffee ( she loves pumpkin, set of battery indoor fairy lights. A pretty tea towel which will match her kitchen. Mini hotel chocolates. Socks she is very easy to buy for but then I know her well too

Echoesandsilence · 15/12/2021 05:52

A diary
Slippers

Scarby9 · 15/12/2021 06:03

Great ideàs here.
I don't think anyone hàs mentioned what all stockings in our family have to have down in the toe, no matter your age or who packed them:
Bag of chocolate gold coins
Satsuma
Pound coin (used to be a sixpence, but inflation struck). If you are already at your £50 limit, could be a 5p piece instead, but it must be shiny.
'Tis the law.
