If you were doing your own stocking, and had a budget of around £50 all in, what would you put in it?

@RJnomore1

I’m always a tiny bit unsure so I’ll ask the question - what size is the stocking? I’ll have some ideas if I know that bit!
It's quite big.

Lip balm, scratch card and silk scrunchie are in!

Thank you for the candle recommendations!

I often get a book or 3 from DH for under the tree. I LOVE Bath oil but he also knows this so will probably get some from him too.

@Mintyt

I do a stocking for my friend, she does her husband and child and her mum done her, sadly her mum passed away just after Christmas, so I do her stocking, I buy things all year, in sales and charity shops and bill her husband every so often, she says it's her best gift
What have you put in it this year? That's what I'm after - a few ideas x

Oh and fudge is in too

Also, in my mum's stocking this year I put a cute hare tree ornament from Joules, and last year a little China hare figurine I found on Etsy. If there's any animal or theme you like, then a cute thing like that, maybe?

I'm also putting a pre-mixed cocktail in each of my parents' stockings, and a mini Cointreau in my dad's, haha. Some LUSH 'olive branch' shower gel in my mum's, and paper clips shaped like cats because I know she'll love them (I got penguin ones for my brother too).

Hair clips/slides are also a really nice stocking-size gift if you like them! Or an enamel pin.

Book
Small nice chocolate
Unusual Miniture gin or liquer
Pretty pen
Slimline diary
Miniture handbag fragrance

This would only come to half the budget in the places I shop, I'd probably spend the rest on a single item tailored to the recipient. If buying for myself it would be a token or voucher in some form to do something, like cinema for two, lunch out etc.

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 12/12/2021 12:15

Here is what’s in my DMil’s. Same budget.

Crocheted owl hanging decoration from a national Trust shop (£6)

Walking socks (£9)

L,Occitan lavender soap (£10)

Neals yard orange and geranium hand cream (approx £10)

Book she chose (£7)

CD (£3 - bargain)

Keyring with picture of DS on (£2)

Medjool dates from M and S (£5)

Green and blacks tasting selection (on offer for £5.50 from Tesco)

I went a bit over budget. But she will like every item.

Nice soft bamboo socks.
Usually I’d like some really nice new knickers, but I went mad earlier this year and treated myself to a dozen specially nice new pairs.

Fudge
Chocolate
Books - the sort I like reading, but not the new release hardbacks that come out at Christmas. I can’t do with hardbacks - too heavy to read in bed.
Garibaldi biscuits (I hardly ever buy them, because of being unable to stop myself from eating them all within half an hour.)

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 12/12/2021 17:10

£50 kindle voucher Xmas Blush honestly it would my ideal present Xmas Grin

Nonicknamesforcatapillars · 12/12/2021 17:28

Me and DH do stockings for each other. I also do one for my sister when she stays with us. Have done it the past few years since the kids stoped believing in Santa.

In mine there is.
Nice shower gel
Mascara
Lindt chocolate
Premixed cocktail
Socks
Face make
Hand cream
And what ever interesting things DH has brought to put in.

We try and stick to around £20 per stocking but it often goes over.

MissyB1 · 12/12/2021 17:38

I have never had a stocking so I’m quite excited about doing this!
Miniature Tia Maria
Bobble hat
Beautiful scented soap
Lily O’Brians chocolates

Book
