As the title asks, what do you do on Boxing day?

We are staying in on Christmas day, so will have to get out for a couple of hours on Boxing day or toddler will become very restless.

We have a meal booked with extended family at 5pm, but will need to do something earlier in the day.

What do you do?

Eat our own weight in chocolate usually Grin

And sometimes play board games or go for a walk.

Pegasussnail · 10/12/2021 23:55

We usually go to the park buy mostly stay at home and have the remains of the Christmas turkey Grin

LadyCatStark · 10/12/2021 23:58

We go to the Lake District for a walk and coffee and cake or lunch.

2319inprogress · 11/12/2021 00:13

Play new board games, curl up with new books, build Lego, eat cold roast potatoes & this year hopefully an epic laser gun battle Xmas Grin

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 11/12/2021 00:15

Generally just lounge around eating, watching films and playing with new toys. Usually go for a short park trip at some point just to shake off the cobwebs.

TheGriffle · 11/12/2021 00:16

Walk, park, cinema, visit family

Twilight7777 · 11/12/2021 00:18

We have a very chilled out day, just me and my mum, catch up on tv and movies we missed, eat bubble and squeak and ham, cheese and biscuits and loads of chocolate. We spend Christmas Day with our friends and whilst we love it, it’s a long day and we don’t have the best energy levels, so Boxing Day is like our respite

Stormyinacoffeemug · 11/12/2021 00:18

Boxing day = buffet and board games. Bliss.

Stompythedinosaur · 11/12/2021 00:22

Hang around in pjs playing with christmas toys and eating leftovers! We might make it out for a dog walk.

caringcarer · 11/12/2021 00:26

I do a big Boxing day buffet and we lounge about drinking good coffee, watching TV, reading or playing top trumps or a board game. Walk the dogs around the lake. I year I baked a cake 🎂 as it was so cold and very wet out.

mrsmacmc · 11/12/2021 00:28

PIL descend on us for lunch 😩 was really happy when they couldn't last year 😂

Lessofallthisunpleasantness · 11/12/2021 00:35

Sit around and : Eat, drink, watch football, watch other telly, play games, go for enforced walk that noone wants to go on but most enjoy. Eat and drink more.

But this year, we are going to watch actual football at an actual stadium.... unless they cancel IT!

PermanentTemporary · 11/12/2021 00:37

For about 3 years we had a neighbours' rounders match in the park, everyone welcome but particularly for the teenagers. Quite a lot came.

Redsquirrel5 · 11/12/2021 01:23

Leftovers and watch a film. Visit BF who lives about 1/2mile away or she visits us and we go for a walk. Might call into the village pub. We don’t do much because I have been busy on Christmas Day.

repottingthescabious · 11/12/2021 02:09

Relax. Find good film. Leftovers. Phone rellies. Stay up watching more films Xmas Grin

BashfulClam · 11/12/2021 02:24

Try and prise Mil from our house 🙄 after much faffing we usually drop her off then go for a meal just to be alone for a while.

Sonex · 11/12/2021 02:35

Minimum possible.

Watch TV, eat leftovers, play a board game if anyone cba. Ditto a walk.

SimpsonsXmasBoogie · 11/12/2021 03:42

We try not to plan anything and relax. Go with the flow.

Usually end up running around the garden for a bit playing with the kids (it's summer over here) so they get some exercise/fresh air, but other than that it's pretty much just PJs, books, films and food.

Agadorsparticus · 11/12/2021 03:45

Have a lazy morning, kids play with their new gifts. Afternoon we go to BILs for a catch up with their family.

MintJulia · 11/12/2021 06:52

DS heads off to his dad's for 5 days.

I usually start redecorating the moment they have gone. This year, the sitting room needs freshening up.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 11/12/2021 06:55

We usually got for a walk on the beach or in the woods with all the family we didn't see on Christmas Day, then we go to someone's house for drinks, leftovers and usually play Trivial Pursuit. I love Boxing Day as much as Christmas Day.

piefacedClique · 11/12/2021 06:57

All to my parents house (about 2 hrs if we walk along the cliffs, have a BBQ at theirs with family friends…. consume a million gin and tonics.

LegoPandemic · 11/12/2021 06:58

Tidy up and put all the presents away takes a while!
DS builds Lego. I have a long bath with my new smellies. This year DH is going to a rugby match.
Film together. Very relaxed day.

desperatehousewife21 · 11/12/2021 07:54

We go to the family’s house who we didn’t see on Christmas Day.
This year my dad (lives alone) is coming to us for Xmas day, so Boxing Day this year will be at the in laws.
Then I have to see my mum and her husband at some point too so will maybe be the day after that. I’ll be exhausted by the end of it all!

RoseMartha · 11/12/2021 08:01

Similar to Christmas day, visiting family, but salad and leftovers for dinner.

We save a few presents to open for Boxing Day just little things usually.

Play board games or play parlour games.

Sometimes go for a short walk.
