Disappointed with Christmas tree

For the past 3 years we have got real Christmas trees, we went somewhere different this year and I am so disappointed with how it looks.
It looked fine in the garden centre, but now it’s decorated I can’t see past its funny shape, especially with our tree from 2 years ago just showing on Snapchat memories and how perfectly shaped it was 😭
It’s very obvious which is which, I can’t wait for this one to come down!

I like it

lightisnotwhite · 02/12/2021 16:55

There’s always one year with a too thin, too bushy, wonky, drop all its needles. Part of the fun of a real tree rather than a fake one.

Who cares frankly. It’s got your decorations on, hopefully smells nice. It’s not any sort of a big deal in the scheme of Christmas. Joy dies not depend on oerfect.

LiquidSodaCrystal · 02/12/2021 16:57

Aw, I like a slightly lame tree - I feel I’m doing him a massive favour glamming him up into his DREAM JOB.

Agree though - totally different species I suspect. Can’t never remember which is which.

Does he have a name? Robert the Spruce etc?

UsernameInTheTown · 02/12/2021 17:02

Poor dead cutted down tree.

Saladcreamormayo · 02/12/2021 17:05

I like it I think it looks just fine. I had a lovely shaped tree last year and I have just bought this years tree from the local home bargains. they are already netted so I have no idea what this years will look like until I take the net off. its like a Christmas tree lottery! luckily last year's was lovely. il prob be writing the same post as you tomorrow when I un-net it!

KimmyKimdoo · 02/12/2021 17:31

Ooh I prefer this year’s tree! The other one looks almost like a fake tree, this one looks real.

lightisnotwhite · 02/12/2021 17:56

@UsernameInTheTown

Poor dead cutted down tree.
Bollocks it’s living it’s best life. Growing in forest, saved from disease and being uprooted, dressed to the nines and eaten by goats afterwards. And it’s prodigy live on.

Much better than the lifeless fake tree slowly falling apart over the years , until it gets sent to landfill.

17caterpillars1mouse · 02/12/2021 18:13

Which is the bad tree? I prefer the first but really can't tell

Doomscrolling · 02/12/2021 18:20

The first tree is a Nordman Pine - doesn’t smell much but won’t make a mess. Minimalist and stylish.

The second is a Norway Spruce - smells divine, makes a mess, very traditional tree.

Both work fine. It can b nice to change things sometimes.
(I love the Norway Spruce best)

FrenchBulldogsareFab · 02/12/2021 18:34

I think your tree looks great. I bought a artificial Alpine Fir tree this year which is sparse and less dense conical type. Baubles hang, not lay. Think it will catch on. Cheaper too!

I thought this thread was going to be about Trafalgar Square's offering this year 😂

TenoringBehind · 02/12/2021 18:46

Yes, that one really is terrible!

Strugglingtodomybest · 02/12/2021 18:49

I like the first photo best, the second one looks fake to me.

PicsInRed · 02/12/2021 18:56

This year's tree looks like he's reaching out for a hug. Poor little guy. 🎄

Watapalava · 02/12/2021 18:56

It just needs trimming near the top so it goes in more

I get real trees every year and always trim them here and there

Babdoc · 02/12/2021 18:56

I’m still chuckling at lightisnotwhite’s tree with its “prodigy”! I think it’s a typo for progeny, but I love the idea of a tree with a genius child.

IslaInthesun · 02/12/2021 19:00

It's a different type of spruce.

I add dark green tinsel with berries and leaves etc to pad them out if I get one that's not as full.

It's got character Grin

VanillaSpiceCandle · 02/12/2021 20:00

I love them both. But I think mother main difference is you’ve not put the star on your tree this year, whereas it’s on the other one. I think trees need a topper to finish them off. And it’ll help elongate the shape too.

Mumofsons87 · 02/12/2021 20:07

I don't know why, but I feel bad for your unwanted misshapen tree! I want to hug it and all it's spindly oddness

Camembear · 02/12/2021 20:13

I like it. It’s a tree, it’s not made in a factory.

ChristmasCrafter · 02/12/2021 20:16

Not going to lie OP, I did giggle at your first tree picture compared to the second.
I do love it's character though. It reminds me of a proud toddler in their first nativity play. Obviously not of the same standard as a professional (second tree) but still an enjoyable experience all the same and very cute!

The4ks · 02/12/2021 20:25

Make me think of phoebe from friends, saving all the unwanted trees!
Love its character, fulfilling its Christmas wish!

MrsHookey · 02/12/2021 21:04

I think a few more decorations would help.

MrsHookey · 02/12/2021 21:04

Not that it looks bad! It looks lovely :)

thegreylady · 02/12/2021 22:07

I love your this year tree ! It looks as if it has a personality and needs a name to go with it. Have a “name my tree competition “!
