Disappointed with Christmas tree

For the past 3 years we have got real Christmas trees, we went somewhere different this year and I am so disappointed with how it looks.
It looked fine in the garden centre, but now it’s decorated I can’t see past its funny shape, especially with our tree from 2 years ago just showing on Snapchat memories and how perfectly shaped it was 😭
It’s very obvious which is which, I can’t wait for this one to come down!

I think it’s great! Trees don’t have to be one particular shape. It looks gorgeous and Christmassy. Love your cat by the way!

Hahaha that’s hilarious! It does look rather odd, but in a charming way. Maybe what you could love most about it, is that it’s created a Christmas memory!
“Remember that year we spent ages looking for a tree and it came out all misshapen and mum didn’t like it, cat loved it though 😂”

@foxgoosefinch it’s unusual for her to be on top of the tree skirt, she is usually asleep underneath it 🙈
@ChristmasKrackers the cat would love it if it was a twig as long as there was a bauble for her to bat and a tree skirt to cuddle into 😂

I love it! If you're having a real tree there's no point in getting a symmetrical one that will look like an artificial tree.

We have an artificial because - cats Grin - but I miss the weird and wonderful real trees of my childhood.

That’s the joy of a real tree, it has its own character!!

All I notice is how lovely your cat looks snuggling up in tree skirt,....... Smile

I love it more, quirky and different!

Your tree looks enchanting. You’ve decorated it beautifully, OP, and it works - the more so for its shape. The ornaments really ‘pop’. Merry Christmas!

It is interesting you were happy with it until you compared it to the one from last year. 'Comparison is the thief of joy'. Enjoy the tree!

I prefer this years - more tree-like and quirky, less instragrammy

Your new tree looks gorgeous. Perfectly imperfect. We have fake ones and seriously thinking about spending more on a decent realistic looking one as im starting to dislike the perfectness of mine nowXmas Grin

I haven’t read the thread but I prefer this years tree, a much more organic and natural looking 🎄

I like it!

You should see mine. I've never seen a shape quite like it. I won't be getting a tree from aldi again that's for sure. 😂

I like this year's one. But then I'm fairly handy with secateurs and wire, so I'd probably have tweaked it before decorating it.

ImStayingInside · 02/12/2021 15:14

@BeaMends wire?! Educate me 😂 what could I do with wire?

Can you manipulate the branches a bit?

Each tree tells its own story...This is one is full of character. And I’m not just saying that - I really think every real tree is fantastic in its own way. They don’t all need to be tall/huge/wide/full/symmetrical/perfect/Instagram-worthy. I prefer to find charm in their individual characteristics (and that’s coming from a proper perfectionist).

You’ll remember it fondly in years to come, I’m sure, like a ever so slightly flawed (in your eyes, anyway) but much loved family member or friend.

I can’t wait to pick ours, now that we’re finally in a house again and can have a real tree! It never feels quite right without one (being Danish I had never seen a fake tree in anyone’s home until I moved to the U.K.). If only I could convince DH that it’d be perfectly fine to have real candles on it too! 🕯🕯🕯

Ah OP I love it, it has character.

Also I’m impressed that your cat is so chilled out. I’ve put the skirt back round my tree about eleventy million times already this year, because my cats love to leap on it and use it to slide along our wooden floor.

It looks nice to me. It should not matter, what kind of tree you get, or what you pay for it, or how you decorate it. My three cats would soon paw off all your baubles though. !
