Until I see the Coca Cola advert. I like to see all the supermarket adverts etc but its not Christmas until I've seen the Coca Cola one! :)

MiracleBaby2022 · 23/11/2021 10:39
  1. December - that's when all our Christmas decorations go up - all at once!

First saw it as a child - it is pretty creepy and spooky in parts, but it has become an annual viewing tradition with us, final episode watched on Christmas Eve (with mulled wine) Smile

The same for me. It's a brilliant series. I've just got it on DVD and I'm so excited to introduce DH to the whole saga 😊

After my eldest's birthday

DiamondBright · 23/11/2021 14:30

I've watched Fanny Craddock Cooks for Christmas.

knackeredcat · 23/11/2021 14:38

@DiamondBright - yes! Once seen never forgotten. I can't say I've ever felt the need to recreate anything on that series. And she's equally horridly snooty yet fabulous. 😆

Awww - we all watch it every year. Dh always says 'I'm not watching that bloody thing yet again - what's the point, we all know it off by heart by now!'. But he always does end up watching it Grin. Dsis watches it with her lot too. We all had a Biox of Delights themed New Year's Eve together one year (with food mentioned in the series etc) Blush

Smileatthesmallthings · 23/11/2021 22:16

We've watched The Grinch. Little one discovered it last year and loved it so much that he cried when it went off Netflix in about April. I'm so excited to put it on for him, we're going to have a Grinch themed night and I've bought him some Grinch bedding!

OhGiveUp · 23/11/2021 22:46

Aw, I bet he'll love that @Smileatthesmallthings 🙂

I'll be watching and putting up the tree!!

I've watched Fanny Craddock Cooks for Christmas

Oh yes Xmas Shock

Her omlette with mincemeat filling ( is it a souffle omlette ? )
The choux pastries that you can keep for weeks in a tin and they're dry like cardboard
And the piping bag full of sausagemeat that she wedges up the business end of the turkey skin afer she's prised it off the bird with her bare hands ..........

Twilight7777 · 24/11/2021 00:09

For me Phillips schofields Christmas guide is a good marker, hoping it’s on again this year

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 24/11/2021 07:25

The farmer down the road puts up the “Merry Christmas” sign in the field on the S bends.

He usually does this the first weekend of December.

TherebytheGraceofGodgoI · 24/11/2021 08:01

Ken Bruce on radio 2 starts playing Christmas songs!
He puts it off for as long as possible.

languagelover96 · 25/11/2021 14:03

Until I've made 'Christmas Breakfast' for my DC on 1st December. I make a special breakfast and prop their advent calendar up at their place. I'm doing snowman pancakes this year! ☃️

A posset? Grin
SimpsonsXmasBoogie · 27/11/2021 12:33

A posset?

I honestly had never even heard of such a thing until I watched The Box of Delights Grin

Have you ever made one? I'm quite tempted to try...

Ethelswith · 27/11/2021 14:35

Until we crack open the Quality Street - I don't think they're as nice as they used to be, but they are a lifelong Christmas-only treat

(We had lemon posset at our wedding reception - all the rugger buggers assumed it was a mousse and made large and loud moose gestures!)

Gingernaut · 27/11/2021 14:38

It's not Christmas until someone cracks out the

elQuintoConyo · 27/11/2021 14:50

I'm in Spain, Home Alone is on terrestrial - it's CHRIIIIISTMAAAAS!

Also just opened the first panettone and will go online and get DS' gift in a bit.

Also up to my eyeballs sewing gifts yippee!

ShowOfHands · 27/11/2021 14:54

I finish the big pre Christmas clean and declutter in time for the Christmas Radio Times coming out. I buy a (decaf) gingerbread latte (never drink coffee at any other time) and sit with the highlighter and the Radio Times. Once I've done that, we can go and choose a tree and start Operation Christmas.

First Sunday in Advent (tomorrow!)
