I ordered one this evening from boots. There are lots half price and I used the code further up this thread for 10% off then paid with my advantage points. If you are a Superdrug member theirs are slightly better than half price (although boots with the code was a better deal for the one I got)

Could I ask a quick question of board games people. I need a board game to play with my DC (7 and 9 by Xmas). DC7 is very good at board games ( seriously into chess), older has ADHD so less patience and less good at losing and will find complex instructions hard to follow. It’s just me and them at Xmas so it’s for us to play together on Xmas day.

I’m therefore looking for a co-op game and can’t decide between Forbidden Island or Castle Panic? Is one better than the other at all? Forbidden Island obvs a lot cheaper …

My boys love castle panic. It's a great game. Easy to play and set up. You can get expansions as well.

Could anyone recommend any good authors/books for 12yo DS please? He does read but is sort of stuck with primary-school age authors IYSWIM. Trying to help him move on to something a bit more challenging without it being too much of a jump.

Do we think the aldi pickwick lights might be in store tomorrow?

The pickwick and Canterbury bells ones were in my local Aldi when I went in yesterday evening - guess they put them out early ready for today.

@Hanswurst, it might well be too big a leap, but if your DS likes fantasy, The Magician by Raymond Feist might appeal to him. It's the first in a trilogy. My DS12 had now read the trilogy twice and absolutely loves it. It's worth noting that is a big book.

@DeepestDarkestRiver thank you for your recommendation, it’s much appreciated. I guess at this point in time a big book might put him off, but I will take note for maybe later on next year, once he’s hopefully made the leap to other books

What about the Alex Rider box set by Anthony Horowitz? Or the Young Bond collection by Charlie Higson? Andy McNab also does a collection. Alex Rider was a definite favourite with my son.
