So many people talk about having to get excited kids to sleep so they can do the wrapping.

Why leave it til then? Confused

Did once. Went to bed at 4 am
Never
Again.
We wrap as we buy!!

rslsys · 11/11/2021 21:51

Cos I don’t buy most of mine until Christmas Eve . . .

Comedycook · 11/11/2021 21:51

Never done that before. Sounds stressful. I usually dedicate an afternoon when the kids are still at school.

00100001 · 11/11/2021 21:52

Same here mostly. Or I'll have it done over a few nights at the beginning of December.

I never forget what I've bought anyone.

I finished wrapping the absolute last of my gifts this past weekend. 80% was wrapped by October. But I'm trying to be super organized this year.

Titsywoo · 11/11/2021 21:54

I plan to do it before but life gets in the way! Luckily this year my teens just want money 😁

CryHavoc · 11/11/2021 21:54

Because it feels Christmassy then.

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 11/11/2021 21:54

It's a ritual in this house, part of the fun times

Chubbycatt · 11/11/2021 21:54

Because it feels Christmasy
Not many presents to wrap
Putting it off
Buying the presents late
Waiting until all presents are bought and doing it all in one go

pastaparadise · 11/11/2021 21:55
  • Presents seem harder to store wrapped in case paper tears
  • I'd forget what's in each one meaning more complicated labels
  • I'm permanently busy so never seem to get round to it
  • I want to feel christmassy while I'm doing it, and I wouldnt in October!

That said, I'm trying to be organised and do by 20th Dec this year!

SantanaBinLorry · 11/11/2021 21:55

Coz a lot of people dont get paid/can do any shopping til the very last minute [shrugs]
I'll be wrapping after I've finished working on xmas eve.

NeedsCharging · 11/11/2021 21:56

Because I have nosey children so stored presents elsewhere until Christmas eve when they still believed in Santa so presents could not be about until Christmas day.

JackieCollinshasnoauthority · 11/11/2021 21:56

Kids in bed, Christmas music on, glass of wine and do the wrapping. Great fun. My kids are both in bed by 8pm though.

thedaythemusicdied · 11/11/2021 21:56

Because not everybody thinks and acts exactly as you do. With more life experience hopefully you will begin to learn this.

ApplesAreTheBaneOfMyLife · 11/11/2021 21:57

Because good intentions to do it earlier always fail. Always something more urgent or interesting to do.

ELM8 · 11/11/2021 21:58

Because it feels Christmassy - Christmas is meant to be fun, not a chore. Can't stand it when everything is organised to within an inch of its life and you end up with a militant Christmas.

My Aunty starts buying in Jan and wraps as she goes (nothing to do with budgeting, she just likes to feel organised) so there is nothing to do in December... WHY?!

I did it oncem. Never again. Was so late and confusing what with mulled wine and 4 kids.

canonlydoblue · 11/11/2021 21:59

I usually finish up the last few things on Christmas eve but wouldn't dream of leaving it all until then. I actually started my Christmas wrapping today as due baby in the next two weeks and I don't want to be stressing over the wrapping of too many presents with a newborn.

Spacerader · 11/11/2021 22:01

I couldn't think of anything worse than wrapping on Christmas eve. Not for me. I have in the past, and I got so fed up I went to bed and got uo extra early Christmas day to finish a few. Never again.

Mine are now wrapped as they are bought, item is added to the Christmas gift list app I have and its put away until Christmas eve.

I'd say almost 90% of my shopping and wrapping is done.

ineedsun · 11/11/2021 22:02

I hate wrapping presents, can’t do it too early though or the wrapping gets ripped in the cupboard

3luckystars · 11/11/2021 22:02

Because they are BUSY and that is the first chance they get!
