I'm a Christmas lover and love all things Christmas so far we have booked;

A centre parks Christmas weekend
Ice skating
The local pantomime
Christmas markets another weekend
A visit to Santa and a Santa train
A family dinner at a local hotel that does a great roast.
My workplace family Christmas celebration

What have you booked...looking for any other ideas to add in!!
I'm so excited!

All our local lights switch ons are cancelled 😡

Bdelder · 05/11/2021 21:23

Ah I’ve found the people who booked all the Santa visits months in advance, so now my kids can’t go! There’s literally nothing left in my town now!

Don’t you feel a little greedy for booking multiple Christmas events, so other families don’t get a look in?

MysticCT · 05/11/2021 21:25

My Asda home delivery slot Smile

Rocketpants50 · 05/11/2021 21:29

I booked a christmas trip 2 years ago... just hoping we can actually do it this year.

TheGonnagle · 05/11/2021 21:31

Ocado slot
Wine delivery
National trust Christmassy decorated house of gorgeousness
NYE in a London hotel
West End tickets for NYE matinee

chrissysmusts · 05/11/2021 21:38

@Bdelder no I don't because there's still availability for most of things we're doing and it's a known fact a lot of these things are booked up quick.

I did notice our lights were being switched on by someone-out-of-LittleMix

I think we peaked with Twist&Pulse and it just cannot get better ..not even Jedward could compete Xmas Grin

I've booked DD and I a night at an ABBA Tribute but nothing else so far .
Pacing myself .

chrissymusts c'mon over to the Christmas topic ... much nicer over there .

CasparBloomberg · 05/11/2021 21:47

We are booked to do:
Ballet tickets bought for December performance as they’re a quarter the price of the panto in same venue but just as Christmassy
School Christmas performance & Carol Concert (if they don’t cancel them again)
Trip to a NT/EH house for a bit of Christmas spirit and walk round the gardens
Trips to visit friends and family

We won’t do:
Local outdoor Ice skating rinks as all been cancelled
Local light displays and Santa high street event as both cancelled
The Rubbishy “it’s never even seen Germany ever” German Christmas market, as it is still rubbish so still refuse to go

MondeoFan · 05/11/2021 21:53

The Polar Express train
Frozen the musical
Beauty & the beast Panto
Cinderella Panto
Santa's grotto
Christmas afternoon tea at local garden centre

That's it so far

romany4 · 05/11/2021 21:55

Weekend in Chester for the Christmas markets
Temple Newsam for the illuminations
Christmas lunch in a restaurant at beginning of December for DH and I

DentalWorries · 05/11/2021 21:57

Absolutely loads, I love Christmas!

Ice skating at Somerset House
Winter wonderland
Backyard Cinema (twice)
Christmas at Kew
Plus various dinners with friends and a Christmas drinks party that we will host

EileenGC · 05/11/2021 22:00

Flights to visit some family.
Appointments to sort out paperwork whilst visiting said family.
Next on the list is a dentist and ophthalmologist appointment, maybe the hairdresser's too.

That's about it, no time for Christmas stuff this year as I only get four days off and will spend half of that travelling. Merry Christmas to me.

I do live in Germany so have dozens of beautiful Christmas markets within a 5km radius Smile

DentalWorries · 05/11/2021 22:01

@mobear I didn’t realise you had to book the Christmas market. We have lunch booked at Alto in a couple of weeks and I was planned to have a browse afterwards so will book now, thanks!

PoshWatchShitShoes · 05/11/2021 22:03

This year, I've booked:

  • Christmas at Kew
  • Festive Fayre at Hampton Court Palace
  • Lapland UK
  • Elf school at Selfridges
  • Day out to Hamleys/NHM (DC inset day)
  • Breakfast with Santa at Selfridges
  • Glow at RHS Wisley

Need to add in NT visit to see our local property dresses for Christmas and a stomp through the forests, then hot chocolate and mince pies in the cafe 🤩

CasparBloomberg · 05/11/2021 22:09

@EileenGC the real German markets we visited years ago are so lovely. The UK ones should really not be allowed to use the German label. Surely it’s like French cheese or something.
Just selling imported baubles that names are written on in sharpie to personalise, or fidget toys and tea towels out of sheds with Holly stapled to it, playing loud German music and having a “frankfurter hot dog” stall nearby, isn’t a German Christmas market!

rant over

Mrsfussypants1 · 05/11/2021 22:10

*Disney on ice ( I know its not christmas related but its in mid December so I'm counting it)
*Local panto
*Story time with the elves Fenwicks
*Sunday lunch with santa and rooftop visit Fenwicks
*Hair appointment
*M&S food order

Still need to book some sort of outdoor, light type of activity. I missed out on booking Santa's roof top cinema so that's definitely on my list for next year. I think I'm now fully booked for every weekend in December.

sanityisamyth · 05/11/2021 22:12

Center Parcs for my son's birthday after Christmas
Car park panto and Santa special steam train before Christmas

sanityisamyth · 05/11/2021 22:12

Oh and a Christmas themed escape room

Kitkat151 · 05/11/2021 22:16

Weekend in Keswick ...with partner
Meal at Mowgli Liverpool on 23/12 for 8 family members
Weekend in Edinburgh with my Mum and adult daughter
LOL Surprise Show at Manchester Arena for 2 of my GD ( 🙄 )
Santa grotto at local garden centre for all 3 GC

mam0918 · 05/11/2021 22:19

Just the pantomime so far, going to try and book dinner with Santa soon... looked at the Santa train but it was crazy money.

EileenGC · 05/11/2021 22:23

@CasparBloomberg they really are something else, aren't they. I actually live in a big city so don't get the perfect magical village ones, but I have that planned with some friends for either this year or 2022, because nothing compares to the real ones in a little town where you're knee deep in snow, walking around to find some Glühwein.

anon51 · 05/11/2021 22:24

Kew Gardens
Waddeson manor Christmas market
Santa grotto
Breakfast with Santa

Louise5754 · 05/11/2021 22:27

Mine are 9 and 11 so no more breakfast with Santa or grottos. Quite relieved really but that's selfish.

lazylinguist · 05/11/2021 22:30

Wow - I had no idea people did so much booked stuff at Christmas! I love Christmas, but we don't book anything- we just spend the Christmas period with extended family, go on walks, cook and eat lovely meals etc.

ghejxodn · 05/11/2021 22:32

Iv booked:

  • lapland UK (first time never been before)
  • panto with DH family
  • different panto with my side of the family
  • centre parcs break
  • a Christmas walk at the local garden centre
  • legoland
  • Hyde park winter wonderland

That will be it, I don't anticipate booking anything else as I think that's more than enough to get on with! Obviously will still do walking the dog and seeing Christmas lights, Christmas crafts and pottery etc but they are the big things. I plan to try and relax over Christmas and spend some quality time as a family
