I'm a Christmas lover and love all things Christmas so far we have booked;

A centre parks Christmas weekend
Ice skating
The local pantomime
Christmas markets another weekend
A visit to Santa and a Santa train
A family dinner at a local hotel that does a great roast.
My workplace family Christmas celebration

What have you booked...looking for any other ideas to add in!!
I'm so excited!

We only see “old” films we’ve already seen at the cinema if it’s more of an experience like Backyard Cinema which is amazing for anyone that hasn’t been. So Christmassy!

MsSquiz · 14/11/2021 16:46

@oxfordgreen have you considered that people do these things with fiends and family?!

Im baffled by your description of Christmas events being "a sad reflection on modern life" because some people like to take their kids to see Santa or they choose to spend an evening walking through a Christmas light set up.

It couldn't possibly be that people enjoy doing things like that?

TheChosenTwo · 14/11/2021 16:49

@MrsSkylerWhite mil took Dd1 to the exhibition a few weeks ago and they loved it, said it was well worth it.

@Lesserspottedmama I don’t understand going to the cinema to see old films either but I’m not a film or tv watcher in general. Ds and I put home alone on last night, in front of the fire, had snacks and got very comfortable under the duvet on the sofa - there’s no appeal for me leaving my house to do that when I can watch the exact same thing in much more comfort at home!!
But then Home Alone isn’t really known for its special effects or whatever!
I know lots of people that have done the drive through cinemas since Covid, I think it’s a great idea if you’re a real film lover although it’s still not going to be as comfortable as watching in your own home, and particularly as most of the films I saw advertised were really old ones - my dc weren’t interested but then you can only really see if you’re in the front seats anyway?!
Not trying to piss on anyone’s chips, there are lots of things I do that many others would think are pointless Grin we like what we like!!

These types of threads always turn me into a conspiracy theoristGrin. Especially when you read comments like this -

There will be very limited availability for Christmas activities now, but I feel like as long as you book over the next few days, you will be able to book something if that’s what you want to do.

It’s like ‘posters’ write reams on the extravagant things they are planning so all the parents reading it at home chilling on a Sunday go oh shit I better book……

I think you might be imagining the reach of one thread the MN Christmas board to be a little bigger than it presumably is?
ItsSunnyOutside · 14/11/2021 17:15

Christmas lights
A Christmas pub lunch (a few days before Xmas)
Afternoon tea

That's it! All other Christmassy things we are going to are free and we don't need to bookGrin

Sweetcandles12 · 14/11/2021 17:28

Can anyone comment on the backyard cinema Christmas they are showing home alone or Elf? I am wondering what it is like?

Also the covent garden snow, is it near to a tube station? Is there anything to do around or is it just the Christmas tree and snow? Thanks

ronfa · 14/11/2021 17:54

@Sweetcandles12 interested in how good it is too, it's not cheap!

ronfa · 14/11/2021 17:55

@DentalWorries is it worth the ££££? will cost me more than £100

DentalWorries · 14/11/2021 18:14

@ronfa I’m not sure tbh, I guess it’s down to individual tastes. We love it and go every year (this year twice Blush) If you have little kids I think the first part where you go through the walkthrough experience is really magical but equally we don’t and still love it. It is quite an expensive day out if you buy snacks while you’re there as well. But it’s a lovely atmosphere and we usually stay afterwards for pizza as it’s all so Christmassy

PonderingTotskeit · 14/11/2021 18:25

I haven’t booked anything but I’ve been planning making chocolate Santa sleighs (candy canes for the sledge runners and a four finger Kit Kat as the base and then piled high with chocolates, and ferro rocher angels.

I’d love to go to a panto, I wonder if there will be one on the tv. We are still shielding as much as possible as DH not in great health..

maddiemookins16mum · 14/11/2021 18:35

My Asda delivery slot.
This ^^ 😅😅 it's the only thing I've booked too but I'll lie not cancel it and go with Tesco instead if I can get a slot - Asda had been pants in my area lately!

Immaculatemisconception · 14/11/2021 22:18

A bag fat zero.

musicviking1 · 14/11/2021 22:57

Nothing - I can't be bothered with all that anymore, plus we hate all the rushing around and just like to relax.

starsparkle08 · 14/11/2021 23:51

Santa safari
Breakfast with Santa at the ice cream farm on Christmas Eve
Trip to see Santa down a mine
Pantomime though this is booked for after Christmas as couldn’t get the seats I wanted or time before
I also want to take my son to see Clifford the big red dog once it comes out in December
