I'm a Christmas lover and love all things Christmas so far we have booked;

A centre parks Christmas weekend
Ice skating
The local pantomime
Christmas markets another weekend
A visit to Santa and a Santa train
A family dinner at a local hotel that does a great roast.
My workplace family Christmas celebration

What have you booked...looking for any other ideas to add in!!
I'm so excited!

Nutcracker, although I’m now wondering whether I’ve done the wrong thing buying tickets for us all as DC have rolled their eyes at the idea.

Taking my DD to the Christmas market in Lille, covid permitting.

Trying to book a few pub lunches with friends. I’m surprised how many places insist on you having a 3 course Christmas menu. I realise pubs have had a hard year but it puts me right off- find if it’s for office Christmas parties but surely not everyone has to eat turkey for every meal out in December.

ANameChangeAgain · 06/11/2021 11:51

We saw Nutcracker a couple of years ago @JumperandJacket. We loved it. Mine already knew the story and music, thanks to Barbie in the Nutcracker Blush, so they loved the ballet.

ANameChangeAgain · 06/11/2021 11:53

What absolute fwittery, calling people greedy for pumping their money into their local economy 🤣

rainbowstardrops · 06/11/2021 12:06

Absolutely zilch. I didn't even know it was a 'thing' to book loads of Christmas activities. It must be bloody draining and expensive

Thecomfortador · 06/11/2021 12:20

We booked the Santa train which was supposed to be the only thing. I did crack and book a Snowman with live music concert, mainly to fill my own desire to be in a concert hall and introduce an orchestra to my kids while they watch a screen at the same time, what's not to like.

I'd like to go to my childhood town Christmas parade in December as there's nothing I can find near here, that's as good, at least. But it we may not.

MsSquiz · 06/11/2021 12:29

@Bdelder

Ah I’ve found the people who booked all the Santa visits months in advance, so now my kids can’t go! There’s literally nothing left in my town now!

Don’t you feel a little greedy for booking multiple Christmas events, so other families don’t get a look in?

Why would I feel guilty for booking tickets for event when they go on sale? Other people were able to book at the same time as I was. I won't feel guilty for being organised, knowing in advance what we would like to do and being lucky enough to get tickets!
balonsz · 06/11/2021 13:08

I don't think people are greedy for booking things in advance, for myself I just prefer spontaneity. I find it really hard to think what I will be doing in 6 or 12 months time, I might have a new job or have moved house. Unlikely but it could happen if I see a job or house I love!

Chippymunks · 06/11/2021 13:18

balonsz could you not go on a Santa railway journey or watch Nutcracker or whatever if you got a fictional new job/house?

Bdelder · 06/11/2021 13:18

Places for Christmas events are still restricted due to Covid. So by booking 4/5/6 events super early you are denying other families with nothing booked the opportunity.

Where I live, all the Santa experiences were booked up months ago. I had no idea I had to book months in advance. It’s ridiculous! There’s no Santa grotto in the shopping centre due to Covid.

It’s remind me of the booking up of NT properties during Covid. People visiting multiple times, while other folk don’t get a look in because they’re not as speedy/ anal about booking.

I do think it’s pretty selfish to be booking up multiple Christmas events during Covid. It’s not like venues can lay on extra tickets to meet the demand.

Bdelder · 06/11/2021 13:21

@balonsz I’m not saying it’s greedy to book events well in advance, it’s just the volume of Christmas events people are booking at a time when supply is hugely restricted. At least where I live in the south of England anyway.

JumperandJacket · 06/11/2021 13:23

Thanks @ANameChangeAgain

JumperandJacket · 06/11/2021 13:25

Where I live (London) everything always sells out yonks in advance- it’s not just a covid thing. I remember years ago trying to book in September and it being too late.

Barbarababa · 06/11/2021 13:26

I’ve not booked anything, because there are no tickets left for events nearby.

balonsz · 06/11/2021 13:26

@Chippymunks I'm sure I could but would need to be mega organised. Tbh that was more related to holidays as opposed to a evening out.

I found losing the spontaneity the hardest thing about having dc particularly once they were in school as pre dc I would decide on monday to go on a city break that friday etc.

balonsz · 06/11/2021 13:28

@Bdelder I do see that. I booked lapland uk a few yrs ago quite late but it was all booked last time i checked this yr. I also booked a santa train last yr end nov. It was almost sold out in sep.

Barbarababa · 06/11/2021 13:30

Does anyone know of any decent online Santa experiences? As I say I can’t get tickets to anything locally, and my children have never ‘met’ Santa due to Covid (I didn’t take them as tots pre Covid). Thanks x

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 06/11/2021 13:32

Love the comment about a board for condescending pricks.
I'm answer to your question OP, naff all.
I felt quite exhausted reading your list, I hope you enjoy it all though Grin

PoshWatchShitShoes · 06/11/2021 13:43

Near London, you need to book Christmas events by August. In some cases earlier. I booked our Santa tickets for this December back in early February!!

That's because when my DC were tiny I tried to buy kids Christmas pjs at the end of November and couldn't find any. My fault, so now I buy them in September 😂

Every year, there are always parents posting on our local fb page on 30th November saying that they can't find advent calendars anywhere. It's no one else's fault they didn't plan ahead. It's the same date every year.

Notagoodmonth · 06/11/2021 13:46

Drivel!!!

How dare they!! Drivel indeed.

Op I've booked a light show walk through local woods.
Theme park Xmas visit, and a show in London.

Op, what happens at a centre parks Xmas weekend?

balonsz · 06/11/2021 13:48

@Barbarababa there was one with liberty (i think) last year

balonsz · 06/11/2021 13:49

Barbarababa · 06/11/2021 13:50

@PoshWatchShitShoes ugh! I’m not booking Santa visits in February!

Iseeyoulookingatme · 06/11/2021 13:51

I haven't booked anything yet as I have only just seen my Christmas rota. I'm skint till payday so will see what's available when I get paid, hopefully something will be available.

Barbarababa · 06/11/2021 13:54

@Iseeyoulookingatme judging by the posts on this thread I wouldn’t bank on it Grin

Barbarababa · 06/11/2021 13:55
