Can anyone help me with a heated fleece blanket recommendation. My Mum is 85 and has just broken her foot so is sitting in a chair a lot, not moving around and so getting cold. I saw some recommended on mumsnet last year that were soft and good for wrapping around you.
A discounted one would be good!

Kiduknot · 27/10/2021 00:54

Would anyone have a moshulu refer a friend discount code please?

thaegumathteth · 27/10/2021 01:15

Anyone have any ideas for dh ? He's still working from home and we're lucky enough to have a playroom the kids have outgrown but it's a bit of a storage area with a desk in it for him. It's also sometimes cold but he does a lot of video meetings so can't wear an Oodie for example. Any ideas to make his space a bit nicer??

[quote Kdubs1981]For any lovers of Spode Christmas Tree pattern-

TK Maxx has a great offer on serving dishes. Massive 77% off. I've recently decided to start collecting this and I've snapped up two!

Thank you for this. I've been looking for the oven dish. Such a good price

nicky2512 · 27/10/2021 06:40

@Autumnleaves4 I bought one from Lakeland last year as recommended on here (I went for the star print).
Someone might have a Lakeland money off code.

bigarse1 · 27/10/2021 07:06

@TuftyMarmoset thank you. The children have a switch and he just isn't able to do anything like that

bigarse1 · 27/10/2021 07:07

@Autumnleaves4 thanks for the idea. He isn't able to do anything like that which is where I'm majorly struggling. He is literally in bed drifting in or out

bigarse1 · 27/10/2021 07:11

@Minionbums you are completely right. I'm just getting lost in it all. My children have autism and expect Christmas to be exactly the same and it just isn't going to be
He has gone from someone who is a real foodie and active to someone laying in bed. I like the idea of the photo frame but think we have one somewhere.
I was thinking of a bundle of books and DVDs for them all so they could curl up with him and watch or they could all listen if I read but I worried that he couldn't tolerate them curled up with him so I dithered and missed the deal.
You are all lovely and I will keep reading as something may appear. Hadn't asked on here before as I didn't want people to feel like I just shot down all suggestions. Thanks

Brand Alley has Playmobil and classic wooden toys on offer. Some of the wooden toys are lovely. www.brandalley.co.uk

I bought one from Lakeland last year, they only sell things which work well. There are some codes for lakekand up the thread
IggyAce · 27/10/2021 07:34

@thaegumathteth for warmth how about a heated chair/back pad? Lakeland do one, they also seem to have a heated poncho coming in with front press stud fastening, so it could easily be removed for meetings.

Minionbums · 27/10/2021 07:40

@bigarse1 you’ve still got tons of time, it’s two months away and a lot can change in that time. Try to relax, keep reading and you never know what you will spot. And we’ll keep our eyes open for my little pony stuff x

clpsmum · 27/10/2021 07:54

@bigarse1 how about the book of everyone.
I've given it a few times and it's really well received.

weebarra · 27/10/2021 07:58

Bigarse, thinking of you. I've done the cancer thing myself so I know how crappy it can make you feel. Your DH is obviously in a different position though.
I'll definitely keep an eye out for things that might be appropriate.

Dolphintrainer · 27/10/2021 08:06

@bigarse1 The first thing that sprung to my mind for your husband was sleeping headphones. Headphones that you can wear lying down in bed. Then he can listen to music, stories, pod casts etc and help drown out background/household noise when he needs to. I am sure you’ll find what you need for him and your children to make it special. I have an autistic child and he surprises me occasionally in accepting things when I thought he’d have difficulty in doing so.

BellsaRinging · 27/10/2021 08:08

@bigarse1 does he have Spotify? Maybe a subscription and you make different playlists for him? Then if he is in and out he's just missing songs, which get repeated? Also there are podcasts which are good if he's feeling up to concentrating more, but can always be replayed? I link ours through the phone and Alexa sometimes. If you don't already have this set up you can also link alexa to other rooms and use as a tanjore so if he needed you he could just 'drop in' to the room you were in and ask for what he needed. Also I think you could then listen to the same players so you were hearing the same hints at the same time, even if he was not well enough for you and the kids to be in the same room all the time.
I hope you manage to have a comfortable and enjoyable Christmas.

Mudandrain · 27/10/2021 08:08

Thanks to everyone who mentioned Disney voucher code! Off to order some bits.

If you sign up to Hobbycraft mailing list then you get 15% off first order.

BellsaRinging · 27/10/2021 08:09

Sorry for the typos. You could use alexa as a tannoy and listen to the same playlists.

sittingonacornflake · 27/10/2021 08:12

@woodwaj how do you find the Amazon promotion please? I can't seem to find it on the app.

woodwaj · 27/10/2021 08:18

@sittingonacornflake try this link..

Carrie76 · 27/10/2021 08:18

Tuttle doves are doing 4 for 3, excluding neck warmers

Carrie76 · 27/10/2021 08:29

@thaegumathteth my DH is the same I’m thinking of getting turtle dives fingerless gloves (tho not sure if he’ll wear them). I like the idea of the heated chair pad I’m also thinking of an air purifier as the room gets quite stuffy

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 27/10/2021 08:38

@bigarse1 im sorry to hear about your dh, Christmas doesn't have to be the same to be fun.
Does he get cold? Maybe an oodie type hoodie or a nice fluffy fleece blanket. Hot water bottle, the long ones are lovely. Dunhelm sell them reasonably priced.

I also agree with the alexa suggestion, with a Spotify subscription. Or audible if he enjoys books. Could also get those smart plugs that link up to it for a lamp or the lights.

If he's up to reading, how about a kindle. Lighter to hold than a book and can adjust the back-light so he wouldn't need to get up and turn on lights.

Have you checked the works for books? They have some deals on and bundles of children's books. And I found a code for 20% off XGSG20.

For my little pony have you looked on places like truffle shuffle, emp? They might have adult bits which could work. H&M often have my little pony stuff too. If you are signed up to build a bear birthday club they send money off for birthday and randomly. they do nice plush toys. (Or if you don't mind second hand they go really cheap on facebook/ebay) if you ask nicely in the build a bear shop they might add extra stuffing in, they did this for my dds favourite pony who was getting a little flat!!

ShoppingBasket · 27/10/2021 08:41

Sorry I'm being really annoying with 3 messages in a row.
Just to mention that Aldi's toy event is starting and on the 31st they have some fab toys for younger kids. They have a fab wooden vet shop for 36euro. They also large teddies for 15e, there's a sloth, bunny and elephant. They aren't the massive ones but they are still quite substantial.
