Thanks @bizzey for the title, which tickled me! The day of the triffids? Nope, it’s the day of the cardboard boxes!

If you’re posting anything specifically for me please do @ me or I may not spot it. It’s helpful if when sharing bargain info you bold it to make it easy for people to differentiate between chat and bargain links.

Not the most Christmas themed item but a great little stocking filler of reusable straws in a cute box. Mine hangs off the nappy bag

@ItsAllBlahBlahBlah saw Ben 10 toys in Home Bargains this evening, £5.99 (rrp £19.99).

Reposting from end of last thread in case it can stack with the other Celtic and co offer 15% off and free delivery AW21BH.

Thanks for WH Smith codes- got great discount on Pokemon cards.

IHeartKingThistle · 18/10/2021 22:36

Anyone seen any good offers on Posca paint pens?

@UrbanMage I burnt out after 12 years and taught Adult Ed for a while, which was lovely even if it did pay peanuts. I'm back and a HOD now though GrinConfused. Got to find the right school Smile

IHeartKingThistle · 18/10/2021 22:38

Sorry, meant to add a sympathetic bit to that! I get it - it's so so hard.

Clucket87 · 18/10/2021 22:42

Just an idea, but if you have somebody hard to buy for, or you want to do something different, you could plant a tree for them.
You can do 1 tree for £5 on the National Trust website and they will email a certificate over.
We are going to do a family purchase this year. I might do it every year for my little boy and give him all the certificates when he’s older.
You can also do them in memory of somebody.

Gustavo1 · 18/10/2021 22:47

Thanks for the starlink set. (From entertainer) Great stocking filler for my boy!

Love this! Will definitely be buying as extra gifts for everyone. In fact I'm wondering if the certificate will fit inside Christmas crackers as well
UrbanMage · 18/10/2021 22:54

@Puffalicious

UrbanMage can you move to Scotland? I'm 26 years in the same school and still want to be there - that's a win! We seem to escape much of the tiresome, constant scrutiny that you guys get down south.

We only have 1 week half term and it's over! Try to totally switch off, you need it.

Remember how much good you're doing for the kids. I ignore the politics, it's great. I also have a great head teacher- makes a big difference.

Alas, DH’s job is pretty much London centric, otherwise I’d live the dream. I hate summers down here - far far to hot for me.
Greenstairs · 18/10/2021 22:56

@TidyOmlette

I can’t get the code to work for buyagift 😩 have I missed the deal?
The code didn't work for me, however I entered my email address to sign up for the newsletter, and they emailed a unique £10 off code straight away. I'm not sure if I've ever actually used buyagift before, so you may need to use a new email address?

LOVE this idea. Love a bit of the NT - getting my parents membership for Christmas this year.
Gustavo1 · 18/10/2021 22:57

For anyone who missed the hot diamonds or couldn’t make the codes work, there are a couple of pairs of their earrings on TKmaxx

Puffalicious · 18/10/2021 23:06

UrbanMage Well you could retire here- you certainly won't be too hot (well, it was this year, but not usually!) and do some supply- well paid and much more chilled. Plan your wee cottage in your mind's eye.

Rockhopper81 · 18/10/2021 23:06

I went back on the WHSmith site and bought more - the biggest saving is off the Lego Creator Ferris Wheel, which has an RRP of £79.99; with both codes, it was £53.99, which I was pretty darn pleased with!

It's a present for me, all mine...it will look awesome with my other Lego and I love a bargain!

Ruralretreating · 18/10/2021 23:08

Thanks @Changingagain for the Starlink set at the Entertainer. Code EXTRA15 gives a discount on already discounted toys so at £4.24, it’s brilliant.

ConsuelaHammock · 19/10/2021 00:20

There are several Lego selling Facebook groups. If you ask on one of those someone will be able to sell you a selection of the Lego minifigures or small sets.

ConsuelaHammock · 19/10/2021 00:22

@VeruccaSalty

Does anyone use any Chinese site for fake lego apart from Ali Express? My son wants a lego theme party and I want to buy about ten cheap sets. Or even a box of those 3in1 creator bags you get in Tesco. Where would I look? Not having much luck on ebay, although it doesn't seem to be working great at the moment.
Lego comment was for Verucca
PizzaCrust · 19/10/2021 01:14

Thanks so much for the WHSmith codes/cashback heads up. Was able to order my girls some Christmas books, get my youngest the Usborne book advent calendar and some lovely wrapping paper for about £30 off before cash back (think it’s about 6/7 quid which is decent!)

Think I’ll put a few of the books in their Dec 1st/Christmas Eve box (haven’t decided what I’m doing yet 😅) and then the rest as some stocking fillers.

Also, following on from my previous mention of the high street card, I spent mine today (well, I’ve 2p left 😅). Smyths had the Peppa Pig wooden playhouse in stock for £79.99 and then the Peppa Pig school set for £19.99 so that’s a dent made in DD1s presents. My partner’s is yet to arrive but we saw some stuff we liked for DD2 in Smyths today so as soon as it does we’ll be going up and getting those bought, too. Felt good to finally make some progress with the shopping. The playhouse will likely be DD1s main present/the one she’ll love the most so I’m thrilled we’ve got it.

PizzaCrust · 19/10/2021 01:17

endlesscraziness · 19/10/2021 06:59

@VeruccaSalty I use al express sites for my Lego Christmas village and never had any problems with it. It's the same just with the Lego logo drilled out.

Used it for a few sets for my daughter too
