After a crappy, stressful year (ttc with no succes, a lot of blood tests, a lot of work, a lot of stress) DH and I are making our Christmas lists. I've finished everyone's presents, but my list is pretty much empty (an electric blanket & a couple of books)

Any ideas? What would you like to get for Christmas?

Please inspire me, fellow mumsnetters

@Ellabella222

I find myself turning more Scrooge like every year. There is so much waste and rubbish in the world and Xmas just adds to it. All the waste and expensive presents, more ‘stuff’ we don’t need.

So I only want something I genuinely need and at the moment that’s a small handheld vacuum to clean up around kids and pets.

This is so true. This is why we decided to make a short list, to make sure we only buy useful things or small treats.
@CallieOpie - My Venetian Passport in Olive arrived earlier this week from Wanderers and it is a thing of beauty. Buttery soft leather. They are also doing an offer at the moment where you get a free card wallet with every order. I got the Venetian one to match the bag - worth £59.
@AConvivialHost ooooh thank you!!! That is good information. Off to have another wee look

I hope next year is kinder to you OP. When TTC I found Christmas and the build-up to it could be quite upsetting at times.

I would like a new wetsuit
Posh chocolates
Books
Storage for my craft things

I would love a gel nail satiation and some perfume. But I'm a single Mum so if I want either of those things I best get saving 🙈🙈🙈

HaNNaHC92 · 17/10/2021 02:00

Just a simple necklace with each of my three children's fingerprints. I can't think of anything else I want, but this would mean everything to me.

EKGEMS · 17/10/2021 02:07

A yeti brand cooler
High quality jumpers
Gold bracelet

yacketyyak · 17/10/2021 02:26

I'd love a voucher that would enable me to pay for composite bonding on my teeth. Absolutely sickening luxury but that's what I'd really love!

Vanuatu · 17/10/2021 02:53

A kindle voucher
A tanzanite, white gold ring (never going to happen)

What I really, really want is a delivery from my favourite Indian restaurant for Christmas dinner. Sadly they are closed on Christmas day and although I can make a decent curry, there is just no chance of anywhere near their standard.

After watching the New Horizons Nintendo Direct yesterday, I'm thinking I'd like my own Switch Lite & the game! :/

GavlarVIII · 17/10/2021 03:38

I buy my own 🎁. I’ve bought myself some Ruth Mastenbroek perfume, and a dress to wear to a ball, just to have something nice to open on Xmas day.

I buy myself what I need when I need it throughout the year so Xmas is a bit meh really (when you have to buy your own gifts).

Blackmagicqueen · 17/10/2021 08:39

@GavlarVIII sorry nobody gets you a gift to open and hope you enjoy treating yourself and at least something you want aswell Flowers

JingsMahBucket · 17/10/2021 08:46

@Vanuatu are they open Christmas Eve? If so, I’d order it for then and eat it the next day. Lots of people do that.

AleynEivlys · 17/10/2021 09:21

A Silke London hair wrap
A new Fitbit I can swim in
Various band hoodies/t-shirts
A new daith ring (partner hates my piercings so no chance of that, or indeed any of these things, as we never buy eachother presents!)

Bertiebiscuit · 17/10/2021 09:29

Not to have to have Xmas tbh

Gottoloveatakeaway · 17/10/2021 10:23

A spa weekend to totally relax

Thank you 🙏. I do get gifts from family members but feel the need to buy myself something nice to open.

groundcontroltomajormum · 17/10/2021 11:04

A stable home for my family. We are facing homelessness. I'm
Not bothered with presents.

JustJoinedRightNow · 17/10/2021 11:19

I would like some water colour pencils and pad, a couple of new books and some pjs. Hoping if I make a list I’ll get some of these things.

MarchingOnTogether · 17/10/2021 11:23

We set each other a really small budget at Christmas and just buy a few little bits, some treats and some silly bits. Some of the best presents have been the silliest ones,

ZealAndArdour · 17/10/2021 11:25

@yacketyyak
Have you enquired about composite bonding costs?
I’ve had it done on both my front teeth to close a big gap and it really wasn’t that expensive (well especially not for cosmetic dentistry). My dentist just charged me the price of two fillings. I think it was £262 in total. I know that’s probably a massive amount to some, but in comparison to the cost of veneers or braces I thought it was quite reasonable.
