Standing in for @Reastie as thread 10 was filling up quickly...

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link or the last word next to the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

Some top tips from thelegohooverer:

My tips are:
check out companies on trustpilot before ordering
be wary of companies that only have email/contact firms for customer services and no phone numbers or addresses (unless of course you enjoy meaningless replies from bots)
keep a list of what you’ve ordered so you can follow up if something doesn’t arrive. Sometimes it’s a numbers game where they’re betting on people not following up on missing orders.
check where things are shipped from, particularly if you need them quickly. I’ve got caught out waiting for the slow boat from China when I thought I was ordering locally.
I’ve started using Revolut to avoid putting in my main bank details (and it helps me budget)

Aliexpress have lots of stuff very cheap, order early as it’s all delivered from Chinahere. Be aware some items are a bit knock off in quality and safety, check reviews and be aware. Clothes can come up v small and take the photos with a pinch of salt as a guide for what you will receive.

Sylvanian families are ok for a two year old but closer to three if u know what I mean I bought my dd raspberry cottage and some figures for Christmas last year and she was almost 3 she turned three a few weeks after. She plays with them sporadically but is enjoying them more and more now being nearly 4

Delahot · 11/10/2021 10:40

Any tips or recommendations for beginners resin kits? Absolutely no idea where to start looking. For a tween. Any tips greatly appreciated x

Picklesbaby · 11/10/2021 10:40

@BeanyBops she got them at 2 and she played with them on and off, she started getting into them again at 4 and is asking for new families the babies and the pram figures now . The school set is a big hit now but it was the choo choo train and baby castle where better for when she was younger

PinkDaydreams · 11/10/2021 10:40

I'm currently on holiday and you guys are so fast with the bargains!! Sadly I can't keep up and have FOMO!
I notice a pp has said that Playmobil also sell on eBay, can anyone guide me in the right direction please as I've typed in Playmobil but there's that much that I can't find the official shop.

Thank you!

Delahot · 11/10/2021 10:42

Also, any ideas for small cheap gifts for 5x 11 year olds coming for a birthday party just before Christmas instead of a party bag. X

BeanyBops · 11/10/2021 10:44

Thanks everyone for the Sylvanian families advice! I'll wait until she is a year older I think, but I'll probably get a small Xmas set for her to play with as part of our as decorations! Thank you Smile

SpamIAm · 11/10/2021 10:58

@PinkDaydreams it was me that said playmobil sell through eBay. I've just found the shop but they have no items, so it looks like they've stopped unfortunately. You can filter by authorised sellers though so would assume you'll be safe buying from one of them.

RevolvingPivot · 11/10/2021 11:06

I bought 3 diamond kits last year. We got not even 1/4 through. They take forever. Maybe we have short attention spans 🤣🤣

BadgerFace · 11/10/2021 11:09

@Delahot my ds has a December birthday, in the past we’ve done selection boxes, chocolate Santa’s and annuals.

Duvetflower · 11/10/2021 11:11

@Delahot I like Resin8 They often have promotions on and will email you a discount if you leave things in your basket.

Haveyoubrushedyourteeth · 11/10/2021 11:17

@delahot we've done mugs before with hot chocolate sachets and marshmallows inside, I usually pop a Christmas lolly or similar in too - Home Bargains have Christmas mugs for around the 1£ mark. We've also filled them with Christmas socks and a bath bomb in the past when we've had children with food allergies here. I'm not creative at all but a bit of cellophane and a bow make everything look better!

Grin I must admit that my first thought on seeing the photos of those teeny tiny pieces of glass was that I would just throw the whole lot in the bin but I have absolutely no patience whatsoever!
NoWordForFluffy · 11/10/2021 11:18

Just had this from Sainsbury's.

I wouldn't let a tween use resin, the mixing and pouring requires a lot of protective stuff, proper rventilation and supervision. NO way I'd let young kids anywhere near it.
@MissMarple0203 we got a switch last year, just before our first lockdown here, for ds who was 4 at the time. Like you, I wasn't keen but dh thought it was a good idea. Surprisingly, dh was actually right Shock and it's been a big hit.
He's loved playing Lego City Undercover, Luigi's Mansion 3, Mario Odyssey, Pokemon Sword, Pokemon Snap, Lego DC Villians, and for a shirt time liked Animal Crossing. It took him maybe a few hours of game time to really get the hang of controlling it and since then he's been way better than me, and I considered myself a gamer until kids came along and free time disappeared!
Pokemon also really helped his reading as there's a lot of dialogue which is written out rather than spoken out loud.
Ahh that's interesting to know! Thanks! I might look into it then.... I think we would try anything to get 4yr old off ipad/YouTube as we are at our limit with annia and elsia (if you know you know) 😂

@AndddddHerewegoagain Minecraft ones in Next www.next.co.uk/style/st768595/272387#272387

ChristmasLightsAndSparkles · 11/10/2021 11:37

We do Resin with our DD(8, but very sensible). It does need full adult supervision and help, but she loves it. She chooses the proportions of colours to mix, adult does the pouring.

Lego has double vip points for the next few days. You also get a free mini set when entering code in basket. There is a skateboard set and lego friends one.
I've ordered one lego set and when the points are applied I'm going to apply the voucher to another set.

Re the primark Oodies

I’m Northern Ireland and asked about them today and was told : they don't have any stock even in the warehouse and they have been told they will likely only be restocked in the big English stores
