Someone you have to persuade into marrying you isn't worth marrying, IMO! 🤷‍♀️

Mine didn't need his arm twisted that much... Blush Xmas Grin

pussycatlickinglollyices · 14/10/2021 14:21

...actually, thinking back, I booked it and then told him when/where...I even bought my own ring 💍 🤷‍♀️

NoWordForFluffy · 14/10/2021 14:28

I proposed to DH. Sent him a - romantic - text saying 'Are we getting married or what?' He replied, 'Suppose so!' The rest, as they say, is history! 🤣🤣

For mine DH talked about booking a wedding as though it would happen years and years down the line (it was me who didn't feel ready) - then we went to his cousins wedding, I told him we should probably arrange ours and we'd booked venues by the end of that weekend ready for the following year

Also, my 'I don't care what we do, just tell me where to be and plan what you want' DH very quickly had an opinion on almost everything, he was more excited than I was I think! 😂

pussycatlickinglollyices · 14/10/2021 14:49

My Dad was given bad news about his cancer at the end of the year. I wanted to be married before he died. DH wasn't fussed, so we did it on my Birthday in March while my Dad talked his way through the ceremony Hmm 😂

pussycatlickinglollyices · 14/10/2021 14:49

Fluffy If I'd sent your text to mine, he would have replied with "What?"

WreckTangled · 14/10/2021 14:49

I never wanted to get married, then we had the dc and I changed my mind. Hence being together for 8 years before we got married.

I'm so stressed about my first uni assignment, I don't know where to start.

FireflyGirl · 14/10/2021 14:52

DH wasn't particularly interested in marriage after the sh*tshow that was his parents'.

I told him I wanted to get married, so he would need to propose to me. I also told him any kids would have my surname, whatever that happened to be... He proposed two months later (Christmas Day, soppy sod), and we were married in the July (I was off work for 4 weeks with my first mmc in the April and planning the wedding gave me something to take my mind off it!).

Fluffy I've just had an email that my Christmas Good Housekeeping is finally on it's way!

Lol! It worked though!

DH proposed to me, popped out to get a celebratory breakfast and I stood on the balcony drinking champagne at 7.00am wondering if it was all true (obviously it was - we've been married 6 years now)

NoWordForFluffy · 14/10/2021 15:54

Yes, I got that too, Firefly. I'd raised a dispute with PayPal too! 🙈🤣

DH proposed within 6 months of us meeting. We'll be married 10 years in April. When he got down on one knee I said "are you serious?!" Apparently he was 😂.

CrazyBaubles · 14/10/2021 16:10

Similar here Neros, although we were only 17 so no one took it seriously!

I'm winding down work now. My head is starting to pound (again). That makes 4 out of the last 6 days and I could do without it.
Stomach seems to be settling though 🤞🏼

Hayup · 14/10/2021 16:24

I'm curled up under a blanket feeling very sorry for myself - cold still lingering unfortunately.

Sending sympathy to you Crazy

TheWoollybacksWife · 14/10/2021 17:02

My DH told me we were getting married. He's not quite so dictatorial in his old age.

Crazy and Hayup hope you feel better soon.

Wreck have you tried writing your conclusion first (assuming it's an essay) and working backwards? That's what DD1 used to do when she was struggling for inspiration.

Fluffy it's Booths day tomorrow isn't it? Do you know if they are doing the physical books this year? My SIL usually sends me one.

Not much happening here. It's roadworks a-go-go locally so I can't go anywhere exciting even if I had somewhere to go.

WreckTangled · 14/10/2021 17:16

Thanks woolly I'll keep that tip for the essays. This time is something different.

CrazyBaubles · 14/10/2021 18:24

I'm now curled up too Hayup - I'm going to start watching Bake Off soon but am considering a CCF for after it Xmas Smile

Thank you woolly

Wreck I always wrote my conclusion in a bubble on one piece of paper then did a spider diagram of anything I could think of that would support it whenever I thought of one. Then started every assignment on in the middle, working towards the conclusion.
It meant I wrote my intro last (and the first 2 sentences were always the absolute last thing I wrote).
Sounds a bit mad but it suited the way my brain works and I use a similar method now for reports etc in work 😂

CrazyBaubles · 14/10/2021 18:25

Also, I think I've found some lights I want for my Christmas tree - they're colour change ones so I can have multicoloured or white but they're £££ so I need to keep looking (or continue putting 2 sets on my tree)

NoWordForFluffy · 14/10/2021 18:45

Woolly, yes, it's book day tomorrow! Do you want me to get one for you and bring it down at half term?

TheWoollybacksWife · 14/10/2021 22:17

Priorities Fluffy Priorities Xmas Grin

CrazyBaubles · 15/10/2021 09:51

Liking your priorities there Fluffy

70 I'm need to book up my remaining leave soon - I have 8 days and am rapidly running out of weeks I can take it!
I want a day soon to just mooch at home (not doing housework so I may not even tell DH), then a few days spread throughout Nov & Dec to do some Christmas shopping, writing cards, putting decs up then enjoying the decorations and lights while watching Christmas films Xmas Smile

I had a late start today thanks to my router being a PITA for half hour.

I'm going 'out out' tomorrow and can't wait. Meeting some friends in Cardiff for Christmas shopping then a late lunch and drinks 🍹 Fully expecting to overdo it and feel rubbish on Sunday but it'll be worth it.
Plus I'll need the drinks as DH is on a works night out tomorrow evening and is going to be drunk and annoying when he gets home - he's a lot easier to deal with if I'm Merry too Xmas Grin
