I wouldn't bother booking any more, Hairspray. I made that mistake when ours were little and it's really just for you, so probably not worth the money!

Oops re the vaccinations. Surely they're used to forgetful pregnant women, however?!

Wreck I would be 😡 if DH closed every window and vent. I like the room to be quite cool when I sleep so one set of windows is open in the bedroom 24hrs.
We also like a fresh, airy house so the landing window, bathroom window and 3 conservatory windows are also constantly open on the latch and the back door is open all day for the dog.

Does your DH know the spiders are already in the house? 👀 and if more want to come in they will find a way? And I say that as someone who hates bugs.

Hairspray my sister booked loads for nephew 1 when he was a similar age. I think it's very telling that for the following 2 she's booked almost nothing until this year when they're 3 & 4.

A full blown migraine appeared with almost no warning at around 4pm yesterday (I had an eye twitch for about 5 mins before the eyesight went and the exploding pain behind my eyes started) and no amount of meds etc would shift it.
I went to bed at 6:30 with cold face mask, ear plugs and a bottle of water. Dozed that awful semi-conscious sleep for a few hours (and was actually sick which only happens 0.01% of the time for me) then finally slept properly from 10:30 - 7.
I feel horrendous this morning too - migraine and meds hangover 🤢☹️

Just showing off my new username...

NerosFiddle · 11/10/2021 20:28

I started a new job today and quit within half an hour. Must be some sort of record.

CrazyBaubles · 11/10/2021 20:57

Hey Hayup Xmas Smile

What happened Neros?

NoWordForFluffy · 11/10/2021 21:00

Wow, that beats my looking for a new job after a week, Neros! What went wrong?!

Hi, Hayup!

Nero yup...that's got to be a record.🏆

Hayup · 11/10/2021 22:04

oh Nero Confused How come?

WreckTangled · 12/10/2021 07:00

Oh no neros!

DH obviously didn't notice I'd reopened the vents so nice clear windows this morning. Also the heating has come on which means the sitting room dipped below 18°. I've turned the thermostat down to stop it coming on again.

Uni day today.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/10/2021 08:10

Morning!

The air (through the windows; I haven't been anywhere, heaven forfend!) feels chilly, and I'm assuming our lounge is below 18° as it's only 18.2° in the dining room, which tends to be higher in the morning. We haven't put the heating back on yet, after a couple of colder days at the start of the month.

I had a nice little surprise last night. I'd forgotten about the car insurance cash back which hadn't traced, and it appeared as confirmed last night, and payable today. So, whoop, I now have £40 which will pay for my Booths deposit on Friday and some Christmas stuff I've bought this month (I have the new JKR and Tom Fletcher books coming this week, plus I've paid a little towards gifts I've bought mainly with Nectar points too).

NerosFiddle · 12/10/2021 08:18

Morning.

So the shortest employment in history was because they changed my hours. The reason I accepted was so that I could work around dc and that wasn't for happening.

Is booths out this week? It's usually around this week every year.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/10/2021 08:44

Yes, Friday this week, Neros!

I shall order online first thing, then we're collecting our books later on that day with the kids. 😁

How stupid of that employer to change your hours. And I bet they knew as well, before you got there, so could've at least asked you. 🙄

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 12/10/2021 08:49

It's definitely cold here - I had a too hot shower and had to open the windows to cool down so our bedroom is now freezing 🥶

Neros that's ridiculous, did they really think you'd stay after that?
Do you have another job in the pipeline?

Nice bonus Fluffy - I love it when money you'd forgotten about arrives Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 12/10/2021 08:54

Now I'm back on the cross trainer I have to have a cooler shower to bring my temp down. I'm a very sweaty exerciser! 🙈🤣

I sometimes stand outside to cool down, rather than open windows. Though my bedroom windows are open now and it's not that cold in here. Yet!

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 12/10/2021 08:55

Ah that's shit Neros

I once had an interview for a part time role where I was asked what hours I would like to work. Once I'd answered their question they told me what hours they wanted the candidate to work - why bother asking??

We always have the windows on vent and have the bedroom window open unless it is very cold in the depths of winter. If it was up to me they'd be open all year round but DH is nesh.

CrazyBaubles · 12/10/2021 08:59

Fluffy I have been known to stand in the back garden in my PJs if I wake up too hot in the middle of the night - I think it's a lovely way to cool down only at night in the dark though because no one wants to see me in my PJs in the daylight! Blush

NoWordForFluffy · 12/10/2021 09:06

I think I've sometimes scared the neighbours at the bottom of the garden with being partially-clothed outside! 😱🤣 They're the only ones overlooking us, as the flat next door only has the frosted bathroom window on our side.

Woolly, we're very much windows open. Though DH does need to learn not to freeze rooms by forgetting to put them back on vent!

May I join in please? You all seem so lovely and I love reading this thread everyday!

That's rubbish Nero Years ago I got a new job in a sandwich shop, an hour into my first day they told me they had made a mistake and hadn't actually meant to employ me but they had wanted someone else. I then had to get my stuff and leave! I was about 18 and have never been so embarrassed!

I've woken up feeling so Christmassy this morning. I'm not working til later so I'm in bed watching a random Christmas movie on Netflix and trying to do some gift planning and activity planning.

Anyone who watched a random Christmas film in October is definitely welcome Grin the crappier the better!
CrazyBaubles · 12/10/2021 10:53

Welcome sensible 👋
Which film did you go for?

I'm posting out of pure excitement - my LoveCrafts parcel arrived today. I got 2 bundles of Christmas tartan fat quarters, one of plain tartan and a cross stitch card.
My aim was to get enough to make napkins for my Christmas table but I may have gone overboard and am now thinking of other things I can make with my very very limited sewing machine skills...

Loving that fabric @CrazyBaubles, I have some similar left over from making decorations in 2019, think I might try and fashion some cutlery holders. Will need some plainer fabric too though so may have to wait until payday.

Sorry about the job @NerosFiddle, what an odd thing to do, employ someone then change their hours.

Been shopping this morning and feeling very Christmassy, bought some Spode diningware and some chocolate for stockings. Waiting on a few parcels of presents and researching desserts to make as thats our contribution to dinner at the in-laws. Does anyone have any recommendations? Apparently only FIL likes Christmas pudding.

TheWoollybacksWife · 12/10/2021 11:15

Only DH likes Christmas pudding here @MissingMo so I make a Yule log and then buy something ice creamy. Last year's Aldi frozen fererro rocher ice cream bombe was a huge hit and it is apparently available again this year so I'm on the look out for that.

Alternatively trifle is always popular just not in this house or there are various sponge pudding flavours that can be served like Christmas pudding.

Hayup · 12/10/2021 12:56

Hi 👋

I'm on my third crappy Christmas film:

Today's CCF is Christmas with a View. Absolute tosh. Bobby Ewing is in it. The leading lady and leading man had a romantic kiss, and naturally as they kissed, the snow fluttered around them.

There's tears, long lost families, lots and lots of plaid and obviously a nefarious character who is trying to come between our romantic heroes.

Xmas Grin
pussycatlickinglollyices · 12/10/2021 13:01

Hayup saves me watching that one! although the Bobby Ewing sounds familiar, so I may have seen it before Xmas Grin

Sainsburys have Christmas PJs in...

Hayup · 12/10/2021 13:11

Puss they are all the same, so very very cheesy, but sheer escapism. At least this CCF has real snow falling and was shot in the winter.

Gosh Darn It! It's finished.
