We've spent the morning doing the big clean of the dining room, ahead of the kids' tree going up in there. There was so much crap to sort / throw out. That's the two downstairs living rooms done now, so I'll do upstairs once I've finished for Christmas, as they aren't as important.

Sorry you're still feeling unwell, Constantly. Hopefully you'll improve quickly from now on.

I have finished my DDs Beauty Advent and they're all wrapped in paper gift bags with a number sticker , I think she'll be pleased Xmas Grin

DH and I have a day booked off to go shopping next week , I buy him lunch , he trails round after me carrying the bags and looking under-the-thumb Xmas Wink

I have A List ...........

CrazyBaubles · 20/11/2021 23:15

You've both been very productive today!

I definitely think something is wrong with my dh. Not only did he help me pick Christmas trees today (we didn't buy them, just chose type and size we are going to get), it was also his suggestion that we get 2 in pots, a 3.5 ft for outside and 5ft for inside so I can keep them both and hopefully not need to buy more for a few years and can - and I quote - "always have something Christmassy around" Xmas Shock

To top it off, he waited patiently while I looked at Christmas decs, made an unplanned stop at a second garden centre then when we were doing the food shop, he picked up advent calendars for us!

I'm starting to worry he's done something very bad and is trying to get on my good side!

Morning!

I've been awake too long...I had a weird / horrible dream so didn't want to go back to sleep.

Allotment day today. I have two more beds to clear, and then I'm done on the clearing front. I should get the raspberry canes done as well, hopefully.

Then it's home to do more Christmas baking (I made rocky road with DS yesterday...he loved whacking the amaretti into submission!).

Good morning all. Thank you for the good wishes. I have woken up without a headache for the first time in a week, so I am feeling optimistic about today! I wrapped DD's advent calendar yesterday, so might make a start on Christmas letters for older relatives today ( in between CCFs - A Christmas Prince yesterday - clearly ill me is around 15!)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/11/2021 09:03

Crazy same with mine .
"Do you want me to take the day off when you go shopping ? I havent been out for a-g-e-s "

Last night "What do you want for Christmas and what are you buying me"? ( We know each other well enough not to do surprises Xmas Grin )

It's still only November

Maybe taken over by a doppelgänger ?

Who are you and what've you done with my husband ???

NoWordForFluffy · 21/11/2021 10:13

Ooh. It all sounds very Invasion of the Christmas Bodysnatchers for our thread DHs! Mine is already on board, so no concerns there!

I've just done an opening time raid on Aldi to get some tree decs we saw online yesterday and were being put out yesterday when I was in store twice, as I hadn't realised we were missing mini marshmallows. I guessed they would hang about for long, so went there before the allotment!

I made chocolate brownie before I left, to use my time wisely!

They look lovely fluffy! We haven't got an Aldi nearby. I am always looking for new decorations.
My DH is still talking about Christmas being ages away and adding that he doesn't know why I start so early because 'it is always fine'. Hmm

Hmmmm...and he hasn't spotted the correlation?! Xmas Confused

Mine's already unprompted bought me some cross stitch kits and hidden them AND he wanted to put the tree up 2 weeks ago, last week and today...I keep saying it's a bit soon. Shock

I wonder if it's delayed "cabin lockdown fever" from last year IYSWIM?

fluffy I love the gonks Xmas Grin

HeyupitsChristmas · 21/11/2021 13:55

Afternoon Xmas Sad

We've all been for PCR tests this morning. DD has tested positive on a LFT 😩

It's been a hell of a week here, and I'm not looking forward to the next 10 days. DD is fake coughing, I have a headache and have sent DH for gin.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/11/2021 15:18

Oh shit, Hayup, what a nightmare. I hope she's OK and you don't catch it from her.

I've now made a load of gingerbread men / octopus / elephants / Santas etc and a batch of mince pies.

They have pink gonks too, Puss, but I preferred the silver. Shame the only nutcrackers were gold though. But beggars can't be choosers!

OP posts:
HeyupitsChristmas · 21/11/2021 16:10

So far (fake coughing aside) She's fine. Her class are dropping like flies - 5 positive LFT'S so far. Everyone has gone for a PCR though so that's a positive.

I had my booster on Monday so I'm keeping my fingers crossed I'm okay, DH is only double jabbed so he's a bit concerned.

Better now than nearer Christmas eh!

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 21/11/2021 17:27

Heyup not wishing to make you drink more Gin, but, erm, some variants show up on LFTs but not on PCRs.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/11/2021 18:29

I've finally sat down for the first time since breakfast! I'm tired. And hungry! 🤣

The kitchen (etc!) has been cleaned and I've ironed the school uniform, so all domestic tasks are complete for today. It's been a long day!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 21/11/2021 18:48

Lovely decorations Fluffy, especially the gonks

We had similar here Constantly until I pointed out (during a row) that we always had a great stress free (🙄) Christmas because I take care of everything except dinner. I left him to buy, collect, wrap and deliver everything for his side of the family and he got it then but I've taken the gift buying duties away from him again as he's incapable of staying anywhere close to on budget!

Heyup thats shit. Hopefully no one else catches it and it passes through your house quickly 🤞🏼

My feet hurt from shopping - It was so busy today. On the plus side, I got the majority of outstanding presents and a Garland type thing and some lights fell into my basket . I'm going up to sort through them in a minute, then I'll be sitting down with a cross stitch I think.

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 21/11/2021 19:01

If you can - watch Channel 5 now - it's all about Crazy Christmas Lights!

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/11/2021 22:22

Hope it's not too grim for you Hayup

I'm another one with a DH that just gives in and goes with the flow about Christmas now. He claimed to be shocked that Sky was showing Christmas movies this early. I shocked him further by telling him just how long some channels have been showing Christmas films. I haven't watched any yet but it's only a matter of time.

Morning!

It's bloody cold round these parts! But it's going to be nice and sunny today, which will warm the house up.

No cross trainer this morning as I'm dead from my digging yesterday. 🤣 I have a handful of parsnips in the ground, plus my bed of leeks (the weedy bit in the middle), plus my onions are growing nicely for over wintering. I was shovelling shit yesterday, with more to do next week. 💩💩💩

I think you have earned a day off the cross trainer after all the digging Fluffy! Fingers crossed for you and your DD Hayup. Headaches and cold-like symptoms are common with the new Delta variant. DD had covid in the summer and had no symptoms at all, while DS felt a bit tired for a couple of days. Our headteacher has reintroduced masks for all staff and is recommending them for children and we've been organising online learning for children who are in a household with someone who has tested positive.
Luckily the DC are full of Christmas spirit so they appreciate it (and join in the prep now - even just discussing meal plans) Xmas Grin

HeyupitsChristmas · 22/11/2021 18:22

Day 1 of isolation....

DD has been in her pyjamas all day and is very snotty. She'll be off to bed in half an hour dosed up on Calpol.

DH and I both still negative (hurrah!) But as the day has gone on, I'm feeling very down in the dumps.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/11/2021 18:33

Did the PCRs come back, or is it LFTs showing negative?

Can we cheer you up at all?

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 22/11/2021 18:44

Can I send you one of my Christmas murder mystery books to cheer you up Hayup? They go very well with gin (or rum, or hot toddies...) and festive snacks

I've finished knitting a pair of socks. One more to go but I'm currently making a cardigan for one of my great nephews.

I also need to make half a dozen Fererro Rocher covers for my friend. I've made them every year for the last 4 years and this year I'm lacking inspiration. I've made knitted Christmas puddings x2 as her mum stole the first lot, Santa hats and then last year was sprouts with googly eyes. This year 🤷🏻‍♀️ - possibly trees as a cone shape would be easy to knit or crochet and I've got dark green wool. The same shape would do elf hats and I think I've got some jingle bells for the ends. Has anyone got any other suggestions? I don't mind paying for a pattern (within reason) but I'm also happy to bodge something myself.
