Just enjoying wonderful Christmas smells as I am making my simmer &stir Christmas cake. As suggested on here a few years ago, I am using amaretto instead of brandy. I have my Christmas playlist on and sm in my happy Christmas place Xmas Grin.
(Under normal circumstances I only allow myself Christmas playlists and films from Dec 1. Although I an more flexible with books!)

Poor DD Wreck

There is deffo something doing the rounds (DD said only half her class showed up on Tuesday )
My DS is woefully coughing and keeping himself awake , keeps wandering about putting his forehead on my arm to temp test him (he's fine )

Good work on the plot Fluffy Xmas Grin

My DH is convinced we have some The Snowman looroll in the loft but I'm not sure . I haven't seen any advertised in Aldi yet and Wilko is awaiting stock.
M&S had their silver star loopaper in , I think they do a proper Christmas one too .

NoWordForFluffy · 07/11/2021 20:44

I'm waiting on the loo roll too, 70...it sells out quickly, so I grab 4-5 packs as soon as it's out!

I hurt. That is all! 🤣

Morning. I have the lurgy. Dh is back at work, dd is off school still and I'm ploughing through. Ds is back at school but lots of tears this morning after being off for two weeks, begging me not to make him go. He was just so nervous going back Sad

I'm loving the weather at the moment. It's bright and cold, lots of crisp leaves everywhere.

MissingMo · 08/11/2021 09:25

Morning all,
You can't catch a break can you Wreck I hope both you and DD are feeling better quickly and DS has a good day so he isnt as nervous next time.
No wonder after all that work this weekend Fluffy it's worth it I'm sure Smile
DS was awake between 3.30 and 5.30 so chill day today watching the cheesey Christmas movies I've recorded over the weekend and perhaps a bit of wrapping if he naps well.

TheWoollybacksWife · 08/11/2021 10:54

Get well soon Wreck. Your poor DS has had quite a time of it - no wonder he's feeling a bit shaky about going back. Hopefully he'll have a good day and will be back in the swing of it by the time he gets back home.

Fluffy is your hurt muscular and allotment related or your head due to weekend excesses?

I've got an unexpected day to myself tomorrow so I think I'm going to do a present stocktake, feed my Christmas cakes and make some more stuff for the freezer. I've got some veg that needs sorting and some pears - there's a HFW pear pudding that I've made before and it freezes very well.

CrazyBaubles · 08/11/2021 13:32

Today is flying by, I feel like it should be around 11am.

Woolly you're very organised. We have the opposite situation here - we're having beef stew from the freezer for tea because they're both stupidly full and we need to make space.

I hope your ds has a good day in school Wreck, and that you feel ok too.

I've received my email back from the local charity about buying presents - I've got a toddler, one in infants, one in primary and 2 teens to buy for. Quite a variety so I'll get started tonight - I think the drop off is the first week of December so I don't have loads of time Xmas Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 08/11/2021 15:10

The new Julia Donaldson is on Amazon for £3, Crazy, which would be good for the toddler. Squirrel something!

DS gets anxious about going back to school, which we put down to his likely-ASD due to how the anxiety manifests itself. It's not nice though, whatever the cause.

I'm just having a late lunch break. It's bloody cold in here and we've had our first bill since I had to agree to 50% higher charges with EDF which means our DD is going up by £49. Yay! 🙄

Our freezers are all rammed, Crazy. It's not helpful for Christmas prep! 🤣

Morning!

I still hurt (yes, Woolly, it's the digging, not the drinking!). And my cold had gone into my ear, so I have a channel of pain from my left gland, up my - sore - throat, and into my ear. Hurrah! Hopefully it'll go soon.

Morning all, it's a holiday day today so will take the kids to school and nursery and then I have a coffee date with SIL, looking forward to a blackforest hot chocolate! Will probably then declutter and tidy and wrap my secret santa. I've bought santa face booties for DS so must collect those today.

Sorry to hear of your ear and cold fluffy. Our energy bill has gone up almost £40 a month. I'm like a hawk at the smart meter.
What a nice selection Crazy I'm sure that will be lots of fun.
Enjoy your day off Woolly

TheWoollybacksWife · 09/11/2021 09:11

Ouch Fluffy have you got a wheat bag or a small hot water bottle you could use on your sore ear. Although it's probably not the done thing to use heat now - I had real problems with my ears as a child and in my teens and I've been left with scarred eardrums and pretty bad tinnitus on one side.

I'm starting on my list of jobs as soon as I've finished my cup of tea. The first wash is already in and I want to change the bed before I take a look at the presents so I can lay them all out and see what's what.

CrazyBaubles · 09/11/2021 10:03

Thank you for tip about the Julia Donaldson book - I bought it yesterday 👍🏻
Have you had a nice hot bath to sooth your sore muscles?

I'm dreading our energy tarring ending as we're on a good one now (slightly helped by having solar panels on the roof which powers a fair chunk of the house through the summer days).
Deal finishes in March though.

I have a basket full of stuff on the works website but I want to go back in and see if there's anything else I can add before I put it through - I'm going to do it as a click and collect and tie in collecting with another visit to town I think.

It's bloody freezing here today btw 🥶 I've got one of DHs woolly jumpers on over my dress and I'm wearing a pair of fleece walking socks he gave me. It's all glamour in the Baubles house I can tell you!

WreckTangled · 09/11/2021 10:13

It's warm here today. I woke up with a headache which I'm blaming on dh keeping the window closed. Again. Angry

Our tariff ends in June but I'm guessing if we move it'll have the change before then. We decided against the nice house as we wouldn't be able to get any help with rent whilst saving for a house and that's our goal.

Dds phone broke over a week ago (it was one of my really old ones) so I've ordered a new one. Was going to wait until Christmas but I don't feel that's fair on her. It's being delivered tomorrow and I'm going to wrap it in Christmas paper Grin she will be really surprised.

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 09/11/2021 13:09

fluffy I had ear/sinus/upper jaw pain last week. It woke me up a few times. It seemed worse on the side I slept on. Ibuprofen worked better than paracetomol for me.
Our freezers are a bit full too. I need to make room for a roulade (or 2) for Christmas, maybe by eating a cheesecake and some magnums. Xmas Grin
I need to get some Baileys and do a proper recce of what's where. I'll need chocs but can't get them too soon or DH will munch his way through (he goes to the dentist in 2 weeks so they might be safe after that)

NerosFiddle · 09/11/2021 13:21

Puss have you tried Tesco's knock off baileys? I don't drink it but dh says it's lovely

NoWordForFluffy · 09/11/2021 13:29

Aldi's knock off Bailey's is lovely too!

I had a bath for the aching muscles, but I still ache! #old

I shall try heat on my ear. It just all hurts. Bloody illnesses; they're like buses for me right now. Sigh.

OP posts:
NerosFiddle · 09/11/2021 13:43

Fluffy apparently they're worse this year because no one was sick last year. So we're all getting super doses now. A few weeks ago I had a really sore throat and lost my voice. It must have been a sinus infection too.

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 09/11/2021 13:47

Nero I got some knock off ones last year. One each from Tesco and Sains. They were pretty much all alike funnily enough and it was a scientific experiment, we tried the end of one bottle v the start of the next. Xmas Blush Maybe I need an Aldi one too...just for research purposes you understand.
fluffy It took just over a week for mine to go, and still hurts a bit if there's a cold wind.

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 09/11/2021 13:50

Nero that makes sense with the infections. I didn't even sneeze last winter, but this years tissue consumption is huge!

NoWordForFluffy · 09/11/2021 13:54

It's every time I go out. Wedding anniversary drinks? Ill after. Biffy gig indoors? Ill after (though my friend got Covid at their a London gig, so I dodged that one!).

I think science needs your knock off Bailey's research, Puss. Service to humanity.

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 09/11/2021 14:40

Happy to oblige, in the name os fience...erm, of science 🍻😂

WreckTangled · 09/11/2021 16:09

I agree that it's because we haven't been exposed to anything for so long, any bug is hitting us all hard.

Schools bankrupting me again. In the past week £60 for DD's trip, £30 for ds' next year £35 for another trip he's going on, Friday is CIN, last Friday bring a bottle and next Friday bring something for the school fayre Confused plus there's a Christmas trip next month so will await the money request for that, probably £20ish.

My throat is really itchy, I wish I could stick something down there and give it a good scratch Grin

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 09/11/2021 16:15

Wreck gargle with tequila? 🍸 😂
Oh, the bottle/school fayre...Ketchup? It's in a bottle. Wink

WreckTangled · 09/11/2021 16:30

Oh yes any bottle is fine! Not stretching to ketchup though Wink
